What does this mean?
Possible solution(s)
Alarm sounds
Auto-reader is designed to “alarm” as soon as a “positive” result is detected • No need to manually check auto-reader for positive results
Alarm feature may be silenced: • Refer to Operator’s manual
All 3 lights blink and buzzer sounds
BI has been removed from incubation well before the final negative (-) or positive (+) result
Replace BI in same incubator well within 10 seconds: • If BI is not replaced within 10 seconds, data will be lost, and the result is “invalid”
Red, yellow or green lights do not illuminate following insertion of a BI, or when time remaining button is pressed
One of the following may have occurred: • Specific light burned out • Not using 3M™ Attest™ Rapid Readout BI
• Check label of BI to confirm using 3M Attest Rapid Readout BI • Call for repair or replacement
Negative “Control” vial
One of the following may have occurred: • Vial not crushed • Media did not wet spore strip • Control vial was sterilized
• Crush vial before inserting into well • Tap vial on table until media wets spore strip • Check chemical indicator on label
Unexplained positive
One of the following may have occurred: • Adhesive residue on vial • Test vial absorbing fluorescent residue from a chemical indicator or tape
• Do not place another label or indicator tape on the vial or on the cap • Place the vial so it does not come in direct contact with chemical indicators or tape
