3. Indented use 16-2083 is a fluid pump featuring pressure limitation and is used in minimally invasive surgery. It can be applied in all endoscopic surgical procedures where the body cavities are not completely filled with liquid and where the volume of irrigation liquid is small compared to the volume of the anatomical cavity. The pump system is ideally suited for use in the abdomen, thorax and retroperitoneum. Page: 4 // 20

6. INSTALLING THE BOTTLE HOLDERS There are two separate bottle holders included to support bottle with irrigation liquid and secretion container. Please install both bottle holders left and right to the bottom of pump using the four fixing screws provided (see illustration). Insert containers into the holders and connect tubing set (see chapter 9.4.). Illustration of bottle holders:
7. spike 7.1. handling of spike The spike is needed to connect tubing set to the bottle with irrigation liquid. Push spike completely into the bottle with irrigation liquid. To ensure proper function venting hole must be placed inside the bottle but above liquid level. Tip of spike must always be completely immersed in the liquid. Connect tubing set IRRIGATION (see chapter 9.4.). Place bottle with inserted spike only in upright position! Use bottle holder on pump. Only original spike ensures proper function of pump. CAUTION! Use only original spike! Clean and sterilize spike before initial application and any further use.

7.2. reprocessing the spike Read all instructions carefully before reprocessing the spike. For pre-cleaning/cleaning we advise to use Neodisher FA (manufactured by Dr. Weigert). Pre-cleaning prevents the transmission of germs and stops residues from drying on. It therefore needs to be performed immediately after the operation. Rinse spike below the surface of the water. Use cleaning gun to rinse connectors and cannula at 4 bar / 3 min with cold water. Use a plastic brush to remove heavily Encrusted residues. WARNING! Do not use any fixatives. Do not use hot water for pre-cleaning. For manual cleaning procedure clean internal spaces with cleaning brush and use cleaning gun to rinse at 45-85 °C / 3-20 min. In addition you can clean the spike in an ultrasound bath (40°C; 35-45 kHz; min. 4 min). Turn the spike several times. Rinse with demineralized water, disinfect at 93-98°C and dry inside and out at 50-100°C/min.10 min. Make sure that venting hole is completely open. CAUTION! Do not use abrasive brushes or sponges. Avoid contact with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Use the sterilizer model Selectomat S 3000 made by MMM Group or Vario-calv 400 E made by Fisher Scientific. Sterilize the spike at 134-137 °C, 3bar / 8-30 min. Make sure that spike does not touch other components and the steam can circulate freely.
8. seCRETION CONTAINER 8.1. handling of SECRETION CONTAINER The provided secretion container is to be used for collecting the aspired organic fluid and has a maximum capacity of 2 litres. It is equipped with pressure lid, mechanical overflow protection with integrated float and a volume scale. Close the lid by pressing it onto the secretioncontainer. Ensure that integrated float of overflow protection can move freely. Connect tubing set SUCTION to the connectors „VACUUM“ and „PATIENT“ (see chapter 9.4.). Both connectors must not be mixed up! Inversion of connections could lead to contamination of the operator and/or the pump. Place secretion container with overflow protection only in upright position! Use bottle holder on pump. When overflow valve intervenes, switch off pump immediately. CAUTION! Clean and sterilize secretion container and its components before initial application and any further use. Operate secretion container in upright position only! Do not operate without overflow protection! 8.2. reprocessing of SECRETION CONTAINER Read all instructions carefully before reprocessing the secretion container. First of all disassemble secretion container into its single components (see illustration). Wash all surfaces using hot water (max. 60°C) and dry them carefully. All components are to sterilize by steam sterilisation (saturated vapour) at 121°C / max.15min. Therefore place the container upside-down. Carefully check components of secretion container for cracks and brittle parts after each cleaning cycle. ATTENTION! Do not use solvents, disinfectants or abrasive products for cleaning! Obey sterilization condition! Dispose after 30 cleaning and sterilization cycles! IMPORTANT! Make sure to re-assemble the seals correctly and ensure that integrated float of overflow protection can move freely after reprocessing.

9. handling of tubing set 9.1. elements of tubing set The tubing set consists of 4 single tubes, which are color-coded (see chapter 9.3). Tubing set IRRIGATION (blue): Tube 1 has got one male LL-connector and one female LL-connector. Single-use sterile filter is fixed to male LL-connector („to spike“). Tube 2 does not contain any components. Tubing set SUCTION (red): Tube 3 has got one male LL-connector. Single-use sterile filter is fixed to male LL-connector („to pump“). Tube 4 does not contain any components. There are blue and red color-coded connectors on front of the pump. IMPORTANT! Sterile filters are single-use only. Dispose after use, do not reprocess!
9.2. reprocessing of reusable tubing set Read all instructions carefully before reprocessing the tubing set. The entire user manual set consists of this product specific user manual (delivered together with the pump) and the user manual of the tubing set to be used for the pump. Furthermore obey RKI guidelines and standards ISO17664 and ISO11607. Before reprocessing remove and dispose sterile filters (see Fig. in chapter 9.3). Refer to user manual of tubing set for details of cleaning and drying. Carefully check tubing set for visible irregularities after each cleaning cycle. Tubing set is to sterilize by steam sterilisation (saturated vapour). Note: tubes 2 and 4 are to sterilize at least 20 min at a temperature of max. 134°C. Tubes 1 and 3 are to sterilize at least 5 min at a temperature of max.134°C. Dispose tubing set after 20 cleaning and sterilization cycles!

IMPORTANT! Insert tubing set only when device is switched-on and self test is passed successfully. Do not use tubing set without disposable sterile filters! Start surgery with a new, completely filled bottle of irrigation liquid, prepare a spare bottle. ATTENTION! If the bottle is empty, sterile air is transported to patient without any warning! To remove a bottle, first of all disconnect tubes from pump. To prevent the instrument from sucking to tissue, the suction instrument / cannula should have a bypass inlet.

9.4. connecting the tubing set Tubing set has to be sterile, see chapter 9.2. Step 1 - Tube 1, blue, irrigation: Connect disposable sterile filter to female LL-connector of spike. Connect male LLconnector of the tube to disposable sterile filter. Connect female LL-connector of the tube to connector IRRIGATION on pump. Step 2- Tube 2, blue, irrigation: Connect one side of the tube to tube connector on spike and the other side of the tube to irrigation connector on instrument. Step 3 - Tube 3, red, suction: Connect disposable sterile filter to connector SUCTION on pump. Connect male LLconnector of the tube to disposable sterile filter. Connect the other side of the tube to connector „VACUUM“ on secretion container. Step 4 - Tube 4, red, suction: Connect one side of the tube to connector „PATIENT“ on secretion container and the other side of the tube to suction connector on instrument.
9.5. Removing the tubing set First of all disconnect tubes from pump to release pressure from the bottles. Separate all other connections then. Remove and dispose sterile filters. Sterile filter is a disposable product and not suitable For reprocessing. The manufacturer is released from any product liability if products Intended for single use are processed and re-sterilized contrary to these instructions. Reprocessing of tubing set see chapter 9.2.
