Setting Up Please refer to Fig. 1 Page 4 Before setting up the ATP7 check that the voltage label corresponds with the mains supply. The ATP7 traction machine fits to a standard foot print mounting table (C) and is secured by a clamp knob (F) at the back of the ATP7 which clamps under the back of the mounting table (C). Check thatthe Traction Mounting Table arm is correctly secured to the Traction Table (A) and the two rigidity clamps (B) are tightened. When fitting the ATP7 to the table, first check that the mounting table (C) is the correct way round. The metal support plate (D) under the table has a long end which comes to the edge of the mounting table (C), this end should be facing awayfrom the traction table (A). Check that the mounting table (C) is secured to its arm by the 12mm nut (E) which should be tightened to allow the table to move from side to side with effort. Place the ATP7 on the mounting table (C) with the control panel and rope facing the traction table (A). Slide the ATP7 on the mounting table (C) towards the traction table (A) as far as possible and check that the clamp bracket is against the back edge of the mounting table (C) and tighten the rear clamping knob (F). The two locating stubs (G) on the underside of the ATP7 should be just in front of the front edge of the mounting table (C). Place the piece of angle -(H) over each locating stub (G) with one edge of the angle (H) under the table and clamp in position with the clamp screws (1) provided.

A TP7 Traction Machine For the attachment of harness positioningof patient and use of the table please refer to Traction Table InstructionsManual. ATP7 Machine has a rope release knob (K) on the righthand side of the rope outlet. The knob is operated by rotating firmly anti-clockwise. The rope release knob should only be operated when there isNO TENSION in the rope, attempting to operate while the traction rope is under tension could result in injmy to the patient and damage to the traction machine. The rope itself should always be controlled by hand when extending or shortening by use of control release knob (K). The main supply inlet is on the back of the machine and the LE.C. plug and cable should be securely fitted into the socket before switching on the machine. Make sure the supply cable is plugged into a live supply socket. The ATP7 main switch is situated alongside the main socket on the rear of the machine. Turn all the control knobs on the front panel fully anti-clockwise. Operate the switch which should illuminate to indicate the machine is on. For the first five to ten seconds after switch on, the ATP7 runs through a self test and calibration routine. If any fault is detected or the machine is out of calibration, the appropriate fault code willbe flashed on the digital treatment timer display and an audible alarm willsound. Press the start/cancel button once to cancel the audible alarm. Check fault codes on table. Page 2. Press a second time to clear indication, if the fault is gone the display will return to 00, if the fault remains, report the fault code to Akron or your dealer. Test patient interrupt by operating button on hand switch. The digital display should flash PI and the audible alarm will sound. To cancel, switch off main supply, then switch the unit on again.

A TP7 Traction Machine Setting Patient Treatment Programme. 1). Select programme type required by rotating control knob (A). The light in the corner of the selected programme icon will be illuminated. For full details of Treatment Programme, see pages 8- 14.
2). Set high force required by operating control knob (B) and movingthe bar display to required setting on force scale (J). NOTE: - If the force is higher than 20 Kgs, eight bleeps will be heard from the audible alarm. This is to indicate that the set force is not suitable for cervical traction.
3). If an intermittent or cyclicprogramme has been selected, set the low force by operating control (C) and rotate until the required force is indicated on the force scale. NOTE:- If the low force setting is to close to or above the high force setting, the complete force scale will flash.
4). Select the hold time required with control knob (D). The hold time is the length of time the traction force is at the high set value. 5). Select the rest time required with control knob (E). The rest time is the time the traction force is at the low force value. 6). Select the length of treatment time required using the two push button pads (F). Treatment time is displayed by digital read out in minutes and counts down throughout the treatment. Treatment is automatically ceased and all tension gradually removed from the rope when the treatment timer reaches 00. The audible alarm willthen sound for two seconds, pause for five seconds and sound for two seconds again repeatedly until the start/cancel button (G) is operated. 7). Before commencing the treatment, check that the patient harness is correctly secured and that the traction rope hook is fastened to the pelvic harness (or spreader bar if cervical traction is being carried out). Place the interrupt control in the patients hand. :
8). To start treatment, press start/cancelbutton (G) for one second. The dot after the set
time on the digital display will flash to indicate treatment is in progress. 9). Ifyou wish to interrupt treatment before the treatment timer has reached 00,press start/ cancel (G) once. The dot after the remaining time on the digital display will stop flashing and remain permanently on. Tension in the rope willbe reduced to zero and a small amount of slack given out. The audible alarm will sound which should be cancelled by pressing the start/cancel pad (G) once.

Example
Sustained traction is applied at the selected traction force throughout treatment time. The machine pulls at a constant speed to this level at the start of treatment and releases in the same manner at the end of treatment time. An audio alarm signals when the force returns to zero.
