2. Connecting the system
• Connect the plug on the aScope 2 cable to the socket on the front of the aScope Monitor.
• Push the ON/OFF button on the aScope Monitor to start up the system. After about 10 seconds the aScope Monitor is ready to display the view.
• Push the ON/OFF button on the aScope 2.
3. Preparation for use • Ensure that the endotracheal tube slides over the insertion cord without resistance. The aScope 2 can be used with ET tubes size 6 and up. If there is resistance put a small amount of lubrication half way up the aScope 2 cord to ease tube passage. Do not get lubrication or any other contaminant on the tip of the aScope 2. Place the ET tube on the green parking device at the top of the aScope 2 cord.
• Confirm that the bending section functions smoothly and correctly.
• If you are using a preformed ET tube unbend it before inserting the cord of the aScope 2 through it.
• Always have an additional aScope or reusable scope at hand as a precaution.
• Slide the bending lever slowly to its neutral position. Confirm that the bending section returns smoothly to an approximately straight position. • Connect the aScope 2 to the aScope Monitor to check picture signal.
• Antifogging agent is not required with this device. •N o additional lubrication is required. The aScope 2 has an easy glide surface. • Carefully slide the bending control lever forward and backward in each direction until it stops.

Ambu® aScope™ 2 - Quick Guide for Difficult Airway Management 4. Preparation for use • The aScope Monitor can be placed on a flat surface or secured to an I.V. pole using the bracket supplied. The bracket also has a hook that facilitates easy, accessible storage of the aScope 2 via the hole in the top of the aScope 2 pouch. • Most users find the default contrast and brightness settings to be optimal but these can be adjusted if required. • Consider dimming the room lights to see the image from the aScope 2 more clearly. • Check the battery indicator on the aScope Monitor. If the time remaining is not sufficient for the procedure – charge the monitor by plugging it into the mains.
5. Insertion of the aScope 2
• A good jaw thrust improves the operator’s view. • Keep the cord of the aScope 2 as straight as possible by holding the handle of the aScope 2 high. This increases the range of movement of the tip and allows you more control.
• Although not necessary, consider if a guiding device, such as an Ambu Aura-i or a Berman Airway might be helpful. • Advance the aScope 2 slowly, allowing the light of the camera to re-adjust at each stage. Advancement needs to be slower than that of traditional reusable scopes. • You can use a 3 way luer tap for spraying & oxygen. • Advance the aScope 2 to the carina and then slide the ET tube down the aScope 2 cord and fix in place.
6. Removal procedure • Slowly withdraw the aScope 2 while observing the image on the aScope Monitor. The distal tip must be in a neutral and non-deflected position.
Ambu® aScope™ 2
• Once you have completely finished with the aScope 2 disconnect it from the aScope Monitor and dispose of it in accordance with local guidelines for collection of infected medical devices with electronic components. • Wipe down the aScope Monitor as per the instructions in the Directions For Use.

• aScope 2 features ‘ClearLens’ technology. ClearLens is a self-clearing membrane protecting the camera lens that disperses secretions incredibly quickly and effectively. Nevertheless, a quick ‘sweep’ with Yankeur suction of the upper airways is a good idea prior to insertion of aScope.
