3. Instructions for Use 3.1. Installation CAUTION: Care should be taken whilst removing packaging; avoid the use of sharp implements wherever possible. Touch fastenings (where applicable) should be applied to a clean, dry, grease free surface. Remove any original touch fastener if required. Ensure that the touch fastener on the mattress / pad is correctly orientated with the touch fastener of the operation table / accessory, remove the backing strip from the touch fastener and apply firmly. Touch fastener adhesive does require time to cure and fully bond. Wherever possible the product should be left overnight following installation. The product should be cleaned, following the cleaning instructions provided, prior to first use. Ensure all components are present and correct, and that interlocking components fit and function prior to use.
3.2. General
Product should only be used, for its intended purpose, by suitably trained personnel. Familiarise use of product on an appropriate volunteer, prior to introducing to clinical use. K8 pressure care products may have a sheet placed over them; however, this will reduce the products pressure care properties. Ensure all positioning devices are secure before use. Do not over tighten handles. Before each use, inspect product for signs of deterioration, damage or component failure, following the care & maintenance instructions provided.

Fitting a Replacement Mattress Cover
Remove and discard the old mattress cover; take note of the foam orientation as you remove the cover. Inspect the foam for contamination to ensure it is fit for use. CAUTION: If the foam is contaminated, it must be replaced. Unzip and open out the replacement mattress cover. Insert the foam into the replacement cover ensuring it is orientated correctly. As you begin to pull the zip slider, draw together both sides of the zip to minimise any strain on the mattress cover; be careful not to snag the mattress cover, or the foam stockinet cover, in the zip slider. CAUTION: If the above action is not observed both the mattress seams, and the zip, will be overly stressed and could fail. Continue to draw together both sides of the zip as you pull the zip slider, working your way around the mattress in small sections. When the cover is completely zipped up, manipulate the cover to sit evenly on the foam, using the seams of the mattress cover as a reference. Make sure the zip cover flap is folded down protecting the zip.
