SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: ♦ For use on a single hospital style bed, with the bed at the lowest possible height with safety rails, or on single home style bed with appropriate safety rails. ♦ Ensure safety rails are used for high-risk mobile or dementia clients. ♦ The brakes on the bed should be locked ♦ Pre-use, ensure the bed has no hazards that may endanger the client or puncture the overlay. ♦ Avoid liquids spilling on the pump. If a spillage occurs turn the power supply Off, disconnect the pump from the wall socket, and clean up spill. Check the pumps safety with appropriate personnel.

FEATURES: ♦ EASY TO USE The Dyna Best 5000 pump is specially designed for simple operation. The pump is lightweight and quiet, with low power consumption. Operation of the pump is with a user-friendly ON/OFF switch, which illuminates when the pump is On. The Soft/Firm comfort control knob allows for the adjustment of air pressure to suit individual needs. The pump alternates airflow automatically. ♦ ALTERNATING WAVES The alternation of air cells occurs in a wave like motion. Every 9.6 minutes the cells change from inflated to deflated ♦ CPR RELEASE VALVE The CPR Emergency Air release valve when activated releases air from the overlay in approximately 20 Seconds to allow a firm surface to perform CPR. This is an essential safety feature for the nursing care of clients.

♦ WATERPROOF COVER The zippered top cover is made of Polyester and Polyurethane with a soft to skin 2 way stretch surface. The waterproof surface is “breathable” by having a monolithic membrane, which allows moisture vapour transmission reducing client perspiration. The zip is covered by a flap of top cover causing a “waterfall” effect reducing the potential of fluids penetrating inside the cover via the zip. The cover is fully removable to assist with cleaning. ♦ STATIC MODE The Pump incorporates a static mode for cessation of alternation during therapy sessions or whilst moving the client on and off the overlay, with an indication light illuminating whilst in this mode. ♦ AUDIBLE LOW PRESSURE ALARM & ALARM ON/OFF SWITCH The pump has a low pressure audible alarm function that if activated by depressing the black switch on the side of the pump, will beep if a pressure level less than 5mmHg occurs. The audible alarm function can be turned off at any time but needs to be re turned on to activate this function. The low pressure LED though cannot be suspended when the pump is in a low pressure state. USER’S INSTRUCTION Attention: Always read the Instruction Manual before use. 1. 2.

Place the pump unit on a flat surface, or suspend the pump unit over end of bed. Place the air overlay on the top of bed mattress and ensure air overlay lies completely flat, without any kinks. Place the “Foot End” of air overlay towards the end of the bed. Pull the corner elastic straps around the underlying mattress to secure. 3. Connect air hoses from air overlay to the CPC Quick-Release Connectors on the pump. When a “click” is heard or felt, the connection is complete. 4. ENSURE THE CPR VALVE (YELLOW) IS PLUGGED IN, located at the head end of the bed on the left hand side. Frequently the CPR valve is not inserted into the overlay and normal pressure levels cannot be achieved. The easiest way to ensure correct connection is unzip the cover up to the head section and plug in the CPR valve from within the cover ensuring it is pushed right in to the overlay connector. 5. Be sure the air tubes are not twisted or trucked under air overlay. 6. Ensure power switch is in the OFF position, then plug AC power cord in to an AC outlet 7. Now switch the power on. The pump will begin to pump air into the overlay. 8. The Yellow LED light indicates that air overlay is not yet fully inflated or in a low pressure state. When the air cells reach 5mmHg in pressure or above then the yellow LED light will go off, and the green LED light will automatically light up. 9. If the audible Alarm beeps on setup, then turn off the Alarm until normal pressure levels are achieved and the Green LED illuminates. Do not forget to turn back on the audible alarm if you require this function otherwise the only indication of low pressure is the low pressure LED on the front control panel. 10. Each time overlay in inflated; it is recommended that the pressure dial be set to "Soft 11. The Static mode is generally used for clients with a lower tolerance of alternation, when the client is having therapy or when transferring on or off the overlay. Remember though that the mode will stay on as indicated on the LED until the static mode button is pushed and alternation is recommenced. The use of a static mode for long periods reduces the potential pressure reducing benefits and should only be used for short periods less than 20 minutes. Page No 5

Setting the pressure level appropriate to the client. It is important when setting up the client not to assume the middle pressure is the most appropriate. Clinicians and carers do not base the pressure level of the Dyna Best 5000 on a client weight. The clearance between the underlying cells and any of the client’s bony prominences on the deflated cell band is what the pressure level dial should be set at. Pump up the overlay with the pressure adjustment valve on the minimum, and once the normal pressure LED illuminates then the client can be placed on the overlay. Initially the assessment as detailed below is done with the lowest possible inflation pressure (dial to max anticlockwise). If more pressure is required then turn the pressure dial up (clockwise) partially and then wait 10 minutes and reassess the clearances. The easiest way to assess the clearance is to unzip part of the cover, wait until 1 cell band is up and 1 cell band down and measure from underneath the main torso of the client.

A B STANDARD MATTRESS

The distance from any bony prominences (for example position A) to the underlying surface, which in the case of the Dyna Best 5000 is the underlying mattress (point B), should be no less than 5cms. This distance should be achieved with the pressure set at the lowest possible level to create the effective clearance. If the distance is less than 5cm, increase the pressure dial, if greater than 5cms reduce the pressure dial. After adjusting the pressure, reassess the client after 10 minutes. This allows time for the pump to adjust the overlay. If the client’s angle of lying is adjusted, for example a bed back is brought more upright then the pressure setting will need to be reassessed to maintain appropriate minimum clearance levels. Re-assessment of pressure and clearance levels is a constant responsibility of the clinician or carer so as to ensure the most appropriate therapeutic and preventative practices for the client.

PRESSURE ADJUST KNOB The Pressure Adjust Knob adjusts the output of air. By turning the dial clockwise, the output pressure will be increased, and by turning counter-clockwise, the output air pressure will be decreased.

ALARM ON/OFF SWITCH ALARM BUZZER FUNCTION: ALARM OFF ALARM ON (DEPRESSED) CAUTION: THE LOW PRESSURE ALARM BUZZER WILL ONLY FUNCTION WHEN SET TO “ON”

USE OF THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT NEGATE THE CARER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK CLIENT SKIN INTEGRITY, ON A 2-4 HR BASIS AND ENSURE CORRECT CELL CLEARANCES. CONSULTATION WITH APPROPRIATE MEDICAL PERSONEL MAY BE NECESSARY CLEANING AND STORAGE ●CLEANING: Pump 1. Check the pump for external damage, if damaged inspection by biomedical engineer may be necessary. Move the pump to a cleaning area. 2. Place pump on a work surface and spray or wipe the outside of the case with quaternary ammonium solution. DO NOT spray any cleaning solution directly on the surface of the pump. DO NOT Use a Hypocarbonate or Phenolic based cleaning solution as this may cause damage to the case. Allow the solution to incubate for 10 minutes or according to the package insert from the manufacturer. 3. Wipe the case with a clean cloth (top, both sides and bottom). 4. Spray cloth with cleaning solution and clean faceplate. DO NOT allow excess cleaning solution on face plate or control panel. (if solution gets inside damage will occur) Allow surface to thoroughly dry after cleaning. 5. After pump is thoroughly cleaned and dried, proceed to plug in the pump and test the pump to see if it runs normally. 6. Unplug the pump and store it aside. Page No 7

Overlay 1. Brush off or wipe down all surfaces with soap and water before wetting with any liquid disinfectant. 2. Any obvious blood spots are wet thoroughly with 1:10 Hypochlorite solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water) and allow to dry for at least 10 minutes, then wipe with a clean, damp cloth. 3. Unzip or unsnap the top cover from the overlay. 4. Brush or wipe down all surfaces with soap and water. 5. Covers are immersed and soaked in disinfectant for the required incubation time. 6. After pre-soaking, the cover is rinsed through a regular cycle in a washer with no soap, then laundered with mild detergent (wash on the coldest setting or less than 60 degrees Celsius) 7. Covers are aerated until they are fully dry. (Drying temperature on the coldest setting or less than 60 degrees Celsius) 8. If internal soiling, the air cells are sprayed on all sides with a disinfectant, let sit for the required incubation time and wiped down with a clean cloth. Spray the disinfectant on all sides, including all the connecting tubes and hoses. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes) 9. If the base is soiled remove all the air cells, the base has to be sprayed down with the disinfectant, inside and out. Let it sit for the required incubation time and wipe down with a cloth. If available wash in washing machine at less than 60 degrees Celsius 10. Repeat the process with the tubing set, spray down, incubate, and then wipe clean. 11. The carry bag should be turned inside out and completely wiped down using the disinfectant solutions. Allow it to thoroughly air dry. Once the inside is dry, turn it back and wipe down the outside of the bag with disinfectant or wash as above.

●REASSEMBLING: After the cover, base, air cells, and tubing are all cleaned as described above. Reconnect them together. Make sure they are all tightly connected to avoid any loss of air in the operation. Finally, connect the already cleaned pump to the overlay. Perform a test run to see if the whole system works properly. When the testing is done satisfactorily, roll up the overlay and pump; store it inside the carrying bag. Enclose the carrying bag with a large plastic bag or a plastic sheet. The system is now ready for the next use

●STORAGE Before placing the unit in storage, please check the followings: 1. Check the power cord and plug for abrasions or excessive wear. 2. Plug in the unit and check the airflow from the unit hose connection port. 3. The airflow should alternate between ports every 5 minutes 4. Check the air hoses for kinks or breaks. Replace it if necessary. 5. If unit is operating properly, coil the hoses loosely and cover the unit in plastic sheeting to protect from moisture and dust. Page No 8

TROUBLESHOOTING: 1. OUTPUT OF AIR BUT NO GREEN LIGHT Replacement of ON/OFF switch required. Consult local dealer. 2. PUMP WILL NOT OPERATE, NO GREEN LIGHT Check power supply, if power normal consult local dealer. 3. AIR PUMP IS NOT PROVIDING ENOUGH AIR PRESSURE The LOW-PRESSURE ALERT light will come on, and the alarm will beep if activated when there is an abnormal situation such as an air leak. If this occurs turn off the alarm and check all air connection between pump and overlay, the CPR release valve on the overlay, and check all connections on the overlay itself. If the LOW PRESSURE ALERT light still illuminates, check the output from the pump or consult the local agent. 4. Check that the overlay does not have a hole. 5. If no LOW PRESSURE ALERT light illuminates then a kink to the air tubing may be present. Check the air tubing 6. PUMP IS NOT CYCLING 7. DO NOT USE THE PRODUCT IF A LOW PRESSURE SITUATION CONTINUES OR THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE CLIENTS AND THE UNDERLYING SURFACE IS NOT SUFFICIENT. 8. Contact the local agent or GMS Rehabilitation.
