Introduction Welcome to the aquilon² nebuliser system. Please read this user guide carefully to achieve the best therapy for your medical condition. Nebulisers treat a wide range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD and bronchitis. They convert medication into fine mist for breathing deeply into the lungs for therapeutic effect. They should only be used if prescribed by a clinician treating your condition. Your clinician will guide you on how much medication to use, and how often to nebulise each day.
The aquilon² nebuliser system has been developed in collaboration with respiratory healthcare specialists and skilled engineers. It is specially designed to provide the highest possible clinical efficiency for treating respiratory conditions.

Quick Start Guide If you are already generally familiar with nebuliser systems and their accessories, follow the quick start guide and you can be up and running straight away!
1. Plug compressor into mains outlet socket 2. Unscrew nebuliser top and dispense medication into base 3. Replace top, connect tubing to base, and fit facemask or mouthpiece to top 4. Connect tubing to compressor 5. Place facemask on face 6. Switch on, breathe in the mist
5
Detailed Instructions for Use 1. Plug aquilon² compressor into the mains electrical outlet (wall socket). 2. Unscrew the nebuliser top and place base on a flat surface. 3. Check the insert is correctly located in the nebuliser base.
4. Dispense medication into nebuliser base.
5. Screw top onto nebuliser.
6
6. Connect facemask or mouthpiece to top of nebuliser.
7. Connect tubing to nozzle on base of nebuliser. 8. Connect other end of tubing to nozzle on aquilon² compressor.
9. Position facemask on face or hold mouthpiece to mouth. 10. Switch compressor on. 11. Breathe the mist in slowly and deeply. Avoid breathing too quickly or deeply which might cause dizziness. 12. When the aquineb nebuliser starts to splutter, continue to nebulise for one minute, then switch off. The session is complete.
7
Care of the Device After every nebuliser session, disconnect the tubing from the compressor, then wash, dry and store the nebuliser until the next session. The aquineb nebuliser may be cleaned effectively in a domestic dishwasher, and it is recommended to do this once a week. Once disassembled, its three parts should be put into a washing net such as used for washing tablets. The compressor filter should be washed every three months. Remove the filter element from the black plastic housing, and soak in hot water and a little disinfectant for a few hours. Rinse, dry and replace. Alternatively, it can also be put through a dishwasher, or washing machine cycle. After reassembly, a functional test of operation before use is recommended
The compressor should be wiped periodically with a cloth dampened with household disinfectant or surface cleaner. The aquineb nebuliser, tubing and facemasks should be replaced after 750 uses. If nebulising four times a day, this would be every six months. Replacement accessories can be ordered from the supplier where you originally purchased this equipment.

Precautions
Y Do not block the cooling vents on the side of the compressor. Do not nebulise more frequently than advised by your clinician. Use only medication prescribed by your clinician. If therapy has little or no effect, refer to your clinician. Do not dispense more than 8 ml of medication into the aquineb. The aquineb requires a minimum of 1 ml of medication to function correctly. Risk of electric shock. Compressor has no internal user-serviceable parts. Do not remove the housing. Do not operate the device if the power cord or plug shows signs of damage. Wash, disinfect and dry aquineb nebuliser after every use. Replace aquineb nebuliser, facemasks and tubing after 750 uses. Wash the inlet filter every 3 months.
9
Troubleshooting Nebuliser fails to operate Check the plug is correctly inserted into the mains outlet socket. If this does not solve the problem, then the equipment should be returned to the manufacturer or authorised service location for repair.
Nebuliser is unexpectedly loud or produces an unfamiliar noise Disconnect from the power supply and shake gently to check for parts loose inside. If so, then return the equipment to the manufacturer or authorised service location for repair.
Usual dose takes longer than normal to nebulise First, check the filter is clean. If not, wash in hot water with detergent, rinse, dry and replace. If the filter does not come clean, then purchase replacements from your distributor. If the filter is clean, then check the nebuliser chamber has not been used more than 750 times. If so, then purchase new ones from your distributor. If not, separate the nebuliser chamber into its three parts, wash in hot water with detergent, rinse, dry and reassemble. If this does not solve the problem, the nebuliser might need maintenance from an authorised service location.

Warranty The aquilon² is guaranteed for 3 years against defects arising as a result of manufacture or design. During this period, any breakdown attributable to design, manufacture or quality of components will be rectified at the manufacturer's sole discretion, at no cost to the customer. Please note that failure to wash the inlet filter at least every three months, or to replace the consumable accessories at least every six months, might cause a deterioration in performance which will not be covered by the terms of the warranty. Specifically excluded from the terms of the warranty are breakdown or deterioration in performance attributable to physical damage, failure to replace consumable parts as directed, or operation in conditions other than those stipulated in these instructions. Proof of purchase is required to support any claim under warranty, so please retain your receipt. You can register your warranty with the manufacturer at: www.afpmedical.com.
