WARRANTY Aquilon nebulizer systems are guaranteed free from defects in materials or workmanship for three years from the date of purchase. During this period, any breakdown or deterioration in performance attributable to the design, manufacture or quality of individual components will be rectified by AFP Medical at its sole discretion, at no cost to the customer.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that failure to have the compressor serviced at least every eighteen months, or to replace the inlet filter at least every six months, or to replace the consumable accessories at least every three months, may cause a deterioration in performance which will not be covered by the terms of the warranty. Specifically excluded from the terms of the warranty are breakdown or deterioration in performance attributable to physical damage, failure to replace consumable parts as directed, or operation in conditions other than those stipulated in these instructions.

and connect the facemask to the top. Connect the tubing to the spigot underneath the aquineb, and to the outlet nozzle on the aquilon.
Thank you for choosing an aquilon nebulizer system. Please read this manual carefully before first use. By following its instructions you will enjoy many years trouble-free management of your respiratory condition. The aquilon nebulizer system is used in the treatment of respiratory ailments for converting liquid medication into a fine mist, or aerosol, for inhalation. It should only be used on the instructions of a clinician, and then using only the medicines prescribed. The aquilon is a portable device, which operates from the mains voltage supply. Please be sure to read the warranty conditions outlined in these instructions. You can now register online for your warranty at www.afpmedical.com.
OPERATION Your aquilon nebulizer system consists of these instructions for use, the compressor and the consumable accessories. These are the aquineb nebulizer, an adult facemask, and tubing. Place the aquilon on a tabletop or similar flat surface. Plug into the mains socket. Unscrew the top of the aquilon and pour into the base the medication as prescribed by your physician. Replace the top, ensuring a tight fit and being careful not to cross-thread the fitting,
Place the mask on your face and secure using the elastic strap. Switch the power on. Aerosol mist will appear from the top of the nebulizer. Relax as much as possible, and breathe the mist in gently. Do not breathe in too quickly, as you may become breathless. Always sit upright when taking nebulizer medication. Treatment is complete when the aquineb starts to splutter. Tapping the chamber at this stage will create some further nebulisation, but a little liquid will always be left over after each session.
TROUBLESHOOTING If the aquilon does not work as expected, firstly check that all connections are firm.
MAINTENANCE Wiping the aquilon with a cloth dampened in disinfectant can check the spread of bacterial and other infection.
Switch the power off and unplug from the mains socket.
The consumable accessories should be replaced after 150 treatments, as their performance gradually deteriorates with use. Replacement aquineb kits are available from AFP Medical or from your local stockist where the aquilon was purchased.
After each treatment, remove the aquineb from the tubing and from the mask, disassemble and wash all parts in a household disinfectant. Rinse and dry, and store in a dry, dust-free place until the next treatment.
Any nebulizer used with this equipment must be in compliance with the Medical Device Directive, be labelled with a CE mark as shown on the cover of this leaflet, and be in compliance with EN 13544-1.
We recommend a functional test of operation be carried out after reassembly and before use.
The inlet filter at the rear of the device should be replaced when discoloured, or after six months, whichever is sooner. Simply unscrew and replace. It is recommended that the aquilon be serviced every eighteen months or so to maintain its performance. A loan device can be provided whilst your own is being serviced, and we operate a household collection and return service. Call 0800 328 2306 for details.
If the aquilon operates, but runs slowly, then replace the inlet filter at the rear of the device. If it appears to run normally, but takes too long to nebulise, or the aquineb bubbles without producing a mist, then it is time to change the aquineb medication chamber.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Do not block the cooling vents on the side of the compressor Do not nebulise more frequently than instructed by your clinician. If therapy has little or no effect, consult your clinician. Do not dispense more than 10ml of medication into the aquineb. The aquineb requires a minimum of 1ml of medication to function. Performance information may not apply to medication supplied in suspension or high viscosity form. In such cases, information should be sought from the medication supplier. Compressor has no internal user serviceable parts. Do not remove compressor lid.
