•
Note: The scale can be "re-netted" during operation.
A display test is performed and all segments of the display are shown for approximately one second. The display will show "WAIT" and after several seconds will display the mode that the scale is in. Hang the sling to be used over the spreader bar (not the jib) and press the operating button again The scale will display "NET 0.0" (see Fig. 5). Remove the sling and position it around the patient as in the normal lifting procedure.

Lift the patient until he/she is clear of any obstructions, i.e. bed, chair, floor etc.
Ensure that the patient is suspended free and clear of any obstructions, i.e. bed, chair, floor etc.
Ensure that the patient’s feet do not contact the jib.
Press the scale operating button (see Fig. 4).
Do not press the button again - the number displayed will be the weight of the patient.
•
Note: If the patient is agitated, the attendant should wait until the patient is calm before attempting to weigh.
Note: It is essential to position the lift on a flat, level surface before using the weighing facility, or the displayed weight may be slightly inaccurate.
A display test will be performed and all display segments are shown for approximately one second.
IMPORTANT: Do not touch or lean on the patient, jib or spreader bar during the weighing operation. Ensure that no part of the patient touches the mast or jib during the weighing operation, as the jib and spreader bar are integral parts of the weighing equipment.
Ignore the weight displayed and press the operating button again.
•
The display will show "WAIT" and after several seconds will display the mode that the scale is in.
The scale will display "NET 0.0" (see Fig. 5). mP1201
•
Note: The scale, once switched on, will operate for 6 minutes. After this time, the scale will automatically switch off. If this happens, press the button again.
Caution: Do not overload the scale. If the scale unit displays "MAX", remove the patient immediately. Fig. 5
For convenience, the scale display unit can rotate through 240º, to enable its use from the sides and the front of the lift.
Lower the patient to a suitable position and remove the sling. Hang the sling over the spreader bar only (not the jib).

Using the Scale
The weight is displayed, and, although having a minus (-) sign in front of it, is the weight of the patient.
To open the battery compartment cover, remove the two screws with a small-bladed screwdriver. Remove the cover.
Remove the sling.
Pull out the battery holder carefully.
•
Disconnect the push-on connector from the end of the battery holder, if necessary.
Note: It is essential to always position the lifter on a flat level surface before using the weighing facility, otherwise the displayed weight maybe slightly inaccurate.
Remove the existing batteries from the battery holder and replace them with four "AA" size batteries or equivalent. Ensure that the polarity is correct (shown on the holder).
IMPORTANT: Do not touch or lean on the patient, jib or spreader bar during weighing. Ensure that no part of the patient, sling or spreader bar touches the mast or jib during weighing, as the jib or spreader bar are integral parts of the weighing equipment. •
Replace the battery holder, refit the battery compartment cover and tighten the screws. When the batteries have been changed (and if the unit of measurement was previously set to lbs), the display will re-set to kgs. To change the units back to lbs, if required, press the operating button for a minimum of 10 seconds.
Note: The scale, once switched on will operate for 6 minutes. After this time, the scale will automatically switch off. Should this happen, press the button again.
•
Rechargeable batteries may be used. However, the operating time of the scale between charges will be shorter than if non-rechargeable batteries are used.
Caution: Do not overload the scale. If the scale displays ‘MAX’, remove the patient immediately For convenience, the scale display unit can rotate through 240°, enabling its’ use from both sides and front of the lifter. •
Note: The scale can be re-netted during operation.
