Product Specification NOTE! The information in this manual was correct at the time of printing. However, ARJO reserves the right to incorporate changes or modifications to the specifications without prior notice.
The MultiClean addresses the concerns over the effective cleaning and disinfection of bathing and showering products for hospitals, nursing homes and other health care environments. When used with the Arjo range of disinfectants / cleaners, the MultiClean delivers a solution of diluted disinfectant at a preset concentration.
A wall mounted unit, the MultiClean is intended for use in bath and shower rooms. It is designed for use with ARJO baths, air spas, showering equipment and other supplied bathing accessories.
The MultiClean is not to be used as a patient shower. The MultiClean features a trigger spray handle with a 2 metre (79”) hose. The spray handle stores conveniently and safely in a holder at the side of the unit. Two controls on the main panel enable the user to activate the unit and select between disinfecting and rinsing modes. A lockable door gives access to the 3 litre (101 fl.oz) disinfectant/cleaner supply bottle, isolation valve and concentration setting cap. The MultiClean is available in two models - Standard (Mains Water Fed) and Pumped (Electric Pump Operated). These are supplied according to installation conditions and local plumbing code requirements. The Standard system incorporates an in line back flow prevention device (vacuum breaker DA device - USA/Canada, pipe interrupter DB device - Europe), with a positive leakage to drain. The pumped system is protected from the mains water supply by an integral water tank with type AA airgap.

Operating Instructions ALWAYS ENSURE THAT: • Equipment is handled by trained staff. • Your skin and eyes are protected. Wear gloves and goggles in line with safety guide lines. • Users carefully follow the manufacturers instructions for the Arjo disinfectant/ cleaner. If the disinfectant makes contact with skin or eyes, rinse with copious amounts of water. If skin or eyes become irritated, consult a doctor.
General disinfection instructions for ARJO Bathing Equipment Where multiple use of bathing equipment is undertaken, there are real risks of cross infection from one person to the next. By definition, the users of these products are high risk persons and challenges from hostile micro-organisms should be avoided. ARJO bathing systems rely upon a strict cleaning regime using the MultiClean. The following schedule has been devised to optimise the hygienic cleaning of bathing or showering products after each occupant has been removed and the water drained to waste. Usage We recommend that bathing, showering equipment and accessories should be disinfected/cleaned at the following times. • Start of day Equipment should be disinfected/cleaned and rinsed thoroughly before the first use of the day. • After Each Use Equipment should be disinfected/cleaned and rinsed thoroughly after each use. • End of each day Equipment should be disinfected/cleaned, wiped and dried after the last use of the day. This is of particular importance to ensure that soiled water/surfaces are not left to stand overnight.

Contact Times The contact time of the disinfectant can be varied depending on the specific environmental circumstances. ARJO recommend that 10 minutes is the optimum contact time to insure best disinfection. This should be practised at the start and end of the day and after each time the bath or shower is used. However, it may be appropropriate for the contact time to be a minimum of 2 minutes where risk of cross infection is considered low.
e.g. ArjoClean setting 65-70

Operating Instructions (Bathing and Showering Products) DISINFECTING/CLEANING (YELLOW) Close the waste outlet of the bath. Close the suction if fitted. Turn the function selection control (10) to the disinfection setting (10A). Remove the disinfectant spray handle (12) from the holder and direct the spray handle into the product and turn the ON/OFF control (8) to the ON position. Secure the disinfectant spray handle into the injection port. Depress the spray handle trigger until disinfectant solution is flowing from all airjets/nozzles. Continue injecting disinfectant for 30 seconds before disconnecting the spray handle. Apply disinfectant to all inner surfaces of the product using the spray handle. Ensure that all surfaces are wetted by the disinfectant solution. Similarly, apply disinfectant to all accessories and attachments, behind and under the seat (where applicable) by spraying with the spray handle.
Scrub the surface of the product with a soft bristle brush or cloth to remove any build up of bio-film which may have been deposited.
Allow an appropriate contact time for sanitization or disinfection according to the instructions for the disinfectant cleaner. While waiting, wipe all other contact areas and accessories with a disposable cloth soaked in disinfectant solution. RINSING (BLUE) Turn the function selection control (10) to the rinse setting (10B). Open the waste outlet and the suction if fitted and drain the bath of residual disinfectant solution. Reconnect the disinfectant spray handle to the injection port. Close the suction if fitted. Depress the spray handle trigger until water is seen flowing from all airjets/nozzles. Repeat the rinsing procedure (pos. 6 -7) until all disinfectant in the system is carried away.
Rinse all parts clean.
Activate and run the air spa (where fitted) for 30 seconds to purge the system of any remaining water.
After the last cleaning/disinfection of the day, dry the bathing product and any accessories. Switch the unit off by turning the ON/OFF control (8) to the OFF position.
NOTE! At the end of the day close the isolation valve (5) to prevent unauthorised use
11

Preventive Maintenance Schedule The daily maintenance and customer obligations shall be carried out in accordance with the schedule below. Mandatory maintenance shall be carried out by fully trained, qualified service personnel using the correct tools and with knowledge of the maintenance procedures. Failure to meet these requirements could result in personal injuries and/or unsafe equipment. The equipment is a subject for wear and tear and the following maintenance instructions must be performed when specified to ensure that the equipment remains within its original manufacturing specification. Cleaning Clean the MultiClean with a soft cloth soaked with diluted disinfectant/cleaner dispensed from the handset. SYMPTOM
POSSIBLE CAUSE / REMEDY
No fluid from handset when trigger pressed
a) check water and electrical services for signs of interruption. Reinstate supply where necessary. b) ensure isolation valve is set to the open position. c) ensure the ON/OFF control is set to the ON position. d) check shower hose for damage or kinks. e) ensure the strainers and inlet / outlet fittings are not blocked.
Lack of disinfectant in fluid mix (the presence of disinfectant can be gauged by checking the flowmeter or the state of the fluid mix - foam, citrus smell)
a) check the function selector is set to the disinfect setting. b) check fluid level in disinfection bottle. c) check the position of adjustment screw on bottle connector. Unscrew and recalibrate the flowmeter as required. d) check disinfectant supply hose for damage or kinks.
Reduced flowrate from handset
a) check the strainers and inlet /outlet fittings are not blocked. b) ensure the supply pressure/flow rate is high enough.
Fluid leaking from handset / hose or main body of unit
a) tighten any loose fittings b) seal wear or damage - contact your local ARJO service department.
