Avoid unnecessary raising/lowering t o prolong battery l i f e , a n d a l w a y s p l u g i n t h e b a t t e r y c h a r g e r when n o t i n use .in order t o recharge b a t t e r y . P l e a s e Note: T h i s h o i s t is s u p p l i e d w i t h a d i s e n g a g i n g A c t u a t o r . When t h e Goom o r s p r e a d e r b a r e n c o u n t e r s a n o b s t a c l e , downward movement is i n t e r r u p t e d . The Actuator s h o u l d re-engage its d r i v e mechanism o n c e t h e o b s t a c l e is removed. I f t h e d r i v e mechanism is n o t engaged s i m p l y r a i s e t h e boom b y h a n d a n d t h e n I o w e r i t . T h e h o i s t . i s now. r e a d y f o r u s e .

CHARGING To c h a r g e t h e h o i s t - remove t h e c a n n o n p l u g t h a t is connected t o t h e Actuator from t h e female socket o n t h e r i g h t h a n d s i d e o f t h e Mast l o c a t i n g b o x . Place t h e battery charger cannon plug i n t h i s socket. Connect t h e c h a r g e r t o the, m a i n s power and t h e n o n l y s w i t c h on m a i n s p o w e r .
A t t h i s s t a g e t h e 'Power on' l i ' g h t and t h e ' B a t t e r y Connected' l i g h t should be on. The f l o a t l i g h t w i l l c o m e o n when c h a r g i n g i s c o m p l e t e . These i n d i c a t o r l i g h t s are l o c a t e d on t h e f a c e o f t h e c h a r g e r .
APPLICATION L I F T I N G FROM A B E D Roll the patient onto the sling using the same technique as f o r a draw s h e e t . Manoeuvre t h e h o i s t u n d e r t h e bed. Lower t h e j i b s u f f i c i e n t l y t o s e c u r e t h e s l i n g t o t h e h o i s t and a t t a c h a l l s t r a p s of t h e s l i n g to the spreader bar. Lift the patient s l i g h t l y o f f t h e bed and e n s u r e t h e s l i n g is not causing discomfort, i f s o return the p a t i e n t t o t h e bed and r e p o s i t i o n t h e s l i n g . Once s a t i s f i e d w i t h t h e p o s i t i o n b e g i n l i f t i n g a g a i n . When t h e p a t i e n t i s s u f f i c i e n t l y c l e a r o f t h e b e d , pull the hoist away. For maxi'mum safety and c o n v e n i e n c e p u l l t h e h o i s t a t a l l times d u r i n g p a t i e n t t r a n s i t a n d move s l o w l y t o m i n i m i s e p a t i e n t s w i n g . T h e h o i s t s h o u l d n o t b e u s e d on r a m p s g r e a t e r t h e n 5" d e g r e e s . To p l a c e a p a t i e n t on a bed simply reverse the process. P u s h t h e h o i s t u n d e r t h e bed and ensure the patient is correctly aligned over t h e bed, gently lower t h e p a t i e n t . Make s u r e t h e p a t i e n t is c o r r e c t l y p o s i t i o n e d a t a l l t i m e s d u r i n g descent. L I F T I N G FROM THE FLOOR E n s u r e t h e p a t i e n t is w e l l enough t o be l i f t e d b e f o r e a t t e m p t i n g movement. S l i d e t h e s l i n g c a r e f u l l y under the patient. Lift the patient into a semi-sitting p o s i t i o n and use a c h a i r o r s i m i l a r l y s o l i d o b j e c t and s o f t cushions t o give support. Page 4
Approach t h e p a t i e n t w i t h t h e open end of t h e h o i s t , and l i f t t h e p a t i e n t ' s legs over t h e base of t h e h o i s t t o t h e l e f t of t h e control end. Lower t h e j i b and hook o n l y t h e head end s t r a p s t o the spreader bar. G e n t l y ,raise t h e p a t i e n t i n t o t h e s i t t i n g position, then attach the remaining s t r a p s to- t h e s p r e a d e r b a r . L i f t t h e p a t i e n t g r a d u a l l y , making s u r e a t a l l t i m e s t h a t t h e s l i n g is comfortable and t h a t t h e p a t i e n t is fully supported. If so, c o n t i n u e t o l i f t as required

To a c h i e v e t h e i r maxim-um w o r k i n g l i f e o f 4-5 y e a r s t h e . b a t t e r i e s s h o u l d n o t b e l e f t d i s c h a r g e d f o r any l o n g p e r i o d of time. E l e c t r i c a l r e p a i r s s'hould be c a r r i e d o u t by a s u i t a b l y q u a l i f i e d p e r s o n . Pivots.
A t r e g u l a r i n t e r v a l s ( 6 m o n t h s maximum) c h e c k Replace worn p a r t s where f o r e x c e s s i v e wear. necessary greasing p i v o t s before re-assembly. E n s u r e t h a t a l l screws a r e f u l l y r e - t i g h t e n e d . Castors. A t 6 monthly i n t e r v a l s check t h a t t h e c a s t o r s r u n and s w i v e l f r e e l y . Remove a n y f l u f f a n d d i r t , check t y r e s f o r wear and t h a t t h e b r a k e mechanism is f u n c t i o n i n g c o r r e c t l y .
