QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE - CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

Enterprise 5000X, 8000X, 9000X WARNING Disconnect the bed from the electricity supply before starting any cleaning or maintenance activity. The bed will still operate on battery power if the function has not been locked on the ACP. Do not allow the mains plug or power supply cord to get wet. CAUTION Do not use abrasive compounds or pads, or phenol-based disinfectants. Do not use jet stream cleaning or wash tunnels. Do not remove grease from the actuator pistons. Clean and disinfect weekly. Clean and disinfect before new patients. Accessories needed: • • • • • • •

Protective clothing Neutral detergent Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) at 1 000 ppm (0.1%) of available chlorine Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) at 10 000 ppm (1%) of available chlorine Warm water Disposable cloth Disposable paper towels

Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) is recommended as disinfectant. If facility protocols require the use of a disinfectant other than NaDCC, use with care and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Cleaning 1. Remove the mattress and any accessories from the bed. 2. Remove headboard, footboard and mattress platform sheets from the bed. 3. Clean all surfaces with a disposable cloth moistened with water and neutral detergent. Start with the upper sections of the bed and work along all horizontal surfaces. Work methodically towards lower sections of the bed and clean the wheels last. 4. Wipe over with a new disposable cloth moistened with water. Dry with disposable paper towels. 5. Allow the cleaned parts to dry before replacing the mattress.

Disinfection 6. Wipe all surfaces with NaDCC (1 000 ppm of available chlorine).  In the case of pooling body liquids, e.g. blood, wipe with NaDCC (10 000 ppm of available chlorine).
