COBLATOR™ II system setup
Irrigation pump setup
A
1
Place the Irrigation Pump on top of the COBLATOR II Controller. The Irrigation Pump may also attach to an IV pole above the COBLATOR II Controller by placing the rear clamp onto the shaft of the pole and turning the knob clockwise.
2
Insert the power cord plug into the appropriate grounded electrical wall outlet.
3
Plug the Flow Control Cable into the back of the Irrigation Pump and the front of the COBLATOR II Controller.
4
Verify that the roller clamp on the IV tubing is restricting flow. Use the spike at the end of the IV tubing to start the flow of irrigant from the IV bag.
5
Press the power switch located on the front of the Irrigation Pump.
6
Open the Irrigation Pump door which is on the front of the Irrigation Pump.
7
Load the IV tubing into the Irrigation Pump by “snapping” the plastic fitting on the IV tubing into the place in the matching receptacle inside the Pump door.
8
Wrap the IV tubing clockwise around the Pump wheel and depress tubing into the catch in the Irrigation Pump tubing channel.
9
Close the Pump door.
C B
COBLATOR II with foot pedal and flow control valve Step 1
Plug in Generator (A) power cord and switch on (lower right corner)
Step 2
Attach Flow Control Valve (B) onto IV pole and hang 500ml saline bag
Step 3
Plug the Flow Control Valve (B) cord into Generator (A) – left slot
Step 4
Plug Foot Pedal (C) cord into Generator by aligning red dots – middle slot
Step 5
Plug Wand into Generator – right slot (blue ring)
Step 6
Confirm Ablate and Coag settings are at their default; only increase or decrease setting if requested by surgeon
Step 7
Press switch up on Flow Control Valve (B) – green light appears
Step 8
Spike the saline bag and thread IV tubing into Flow Control Valve (B) using an up and down ‘flossing motion’ until tubing is firmly seated inside valve
Step 9
Press switch down on Flow Control Valve (B) to AUTO
Step 10
Attach suction tubing from Wand suction port to suction canister
NOTE: If the Irrigation Pump door is not completely closed a yellow indicator light will illuminate above the prime irrigation button and the Pump will not operate.
NOTE: For REFLEX™ Wands see ONLY steps 1, 4, 5, and 6
10 Select the appropriate flow rate setting by pressing a flow rate selector button. NOTE: The Pump defaults to the low flow rate setting when the irrigation Pump is turned on.
Cleaning and sterilisation Controller
DO NOT sterilise or immerse in liquid. Wipe clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent as needed.
Foot Control
DO NOT sterilise. Clean with detergents and disinfectant according to standard practices. Disinfect with liquid chemical disinfectant such as chlorine solutions, iodophors, glutaraldehydes and hydrogen peroxides. Follow manufacturer guidelines for concentration and length of exposure.
Wand
The Wand is supplied sterile and is intended for single use only. DO NOT clean, resterilise or reuse.
Troubleshooting • If saline continually drips after spiking bag, switch up on Flow Control Valve and re-floss tubing until fully inserted, then switch down to AUTO. • If Wand tip steams at beginning of case, make sure suction is ON and tubing is attached to Wand suction port. • If Wand tip clogs, try the following: - Place Wand tip in saline and press Ablate pedal until suction returns - Wipe Wand tip with wet towel or press Ablate and wipe Wand tip on towel raw up 10cc syringe with saline, attach to Wand suction port, submerge Wand tip in cup and -D flush saline in / out of suction port while pressing Ablate. If needed, draw saline back into syringe and repeat the process 2 to 3 times

11
Open the roller camp on the IV tubing to stop restriction of the irrigant flow.
12 Press the prime irrigation button located on the front of the Irrigation Pump to manually activate the system. This will initiate fluid for 11 seconds. NOTE: If the initial priming is not enough, the prime button can be held down to continue to pump fluid until the button is released.
Plastic fitting (clip) instructions The Irrigation Pump (P/N SIP001-00) was designed to provide controlled delivery of saline through COBLATION™ Wands. This instruction sheet provides additional information about using the Irrigation Pump. Before using the Pump, review the Irrigation Pump user manual (P/N 22706). A plastic fitting (clip) is required to use the pump with COBLATION Wands. Before loading the IV tubing into the irrigation pump (Step 10 in user manual), attach a plastic fitting (clip) to the IV tubing with the arrow on the clip pointing towards the Wand. To snap the clip into the Pump (during Step 10), orient the clip in this fashion with the closed side inserting into the Pump and the curved surface of the clip matching the inner curved surface of the Pump.
It is very important to verify that the IV tubing is not restricting irrigant flow (Step 14 in user manual) either via a kink in the tubing or with the roller clamp. Restriction of irrigant flow by any means can damage the pump or the IV tubing.
