B. Braun Space Infusion Pump Cleaning NECESSARY MATERIALS TO CLEAN INFUSION PUMPS
Disinfectant/cleaner wipes or a clean cloth dampened with disinfectant/cleaner solution Soft damp cloth to remove the cleaner Dry soft cloth or absorbent soft tissue to dry the pump
Do not use abrasive cloth/tissues, cleaners, disinfectants affecting plastic Do not use alkylamine containing disinfectants
CLEANING PROCESS (VISUAL INSPECTION, CLEANING, DISINFECTION AND DRYING)
If any external damage is identified please refer to EBME. All damage should be repaired prior to the next clinical use.
Ensure the device is unplugged while cleaning Remove device from the pole clamp assembly, inspect and clean pole clamp as required Check the pump for visible external damage, soil and stains
CLEANING AND DISINFECTION WITH WIPES Use just one wipe at a time when cleaning/disinfecting with wet wipes. Check the wipe is not too soaked with disinfectant fluid. Make sure the pumps are kept horizontal while cleaning. Do not allow devices to be saturated or immersed in fluid.
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS
Ensure the devices stay horizontal during cleaning
Check how long the cleaner can stay on the pump. Check the disinfectant activation time!
Do not spray fluid directly onto/into the device Do not disinfect the mains connection by spraying Do not use sharp objects to remove soil or stains
When the recommended time has elapsed, remove the cleaner/disinfectant with a clean soft cloth, dampened with water.
DO NOT allow the cleaning solution to collect on the pumps. Residue build up may hinder pump operation Inspect the device before and after cleaning If cracks are detected please refer the device to EBME
Dry the pumps before attaching to power supply and before clinical use.
