Foreword
Dear customer! We are delighted that you have chosen to purchase this foot care dry technology device. The BaehrTec A700 has technical features, which will help to enhance your work. The BaehrTec A700 is made from a variety of high-quality aluminium, stainless steel and plastic parts, which are also used in sports car and aircraft construction and therefore, guarantee ultimate stability and quality. The microprocessor-controlled electronics also ensure maximum power and performance from the electronic components. Furthermore, the BaehrTec A700 has an electronic readjustment for the handpiece motor, which provides power and performance even in the lowest speed range. Try it yourself and you will be amazed. Another highlight is the Easy-Speed concept. Thanks to the instrument illustrations on the controller, setting the engine speed for the instrument currently in use is guaranteed to be child’s play (however, this is no substitute for the operator checking that the maximum speed for the instrument currently in use is not exceeded). In addition to the Easy-Speed concept, the BaehrTec A700 has a colour display, which provides you with additional information and which will facilitate adjusting several device settings (e.g. colour background). Modern electronic devices typically have energy-saving features. Therefore, we deliberately excluded a standby mode for the BaehrTec A700. So, when your device is not required, please turn it off using the main switch, which is located in a user-friendly position on the front of the device. Protect the environment and your purse. You have the following powerful advantages with the BaehrTec A700: - very lightweight - very low noise level - easy operation with a high degree of operational safety - high performance, perfectly adjusted to the working conditions - high robustness (for mobile use) - high and long-term reliability - high energy-saving potential (no standby mode) - Button on handpiece The BaehrTec A700 foot care device is manufactured and tested in accordance with strict quality criteria. Employee and Customer Protection It is essential that you read this section with the utmost care! It contains important information on protecting yourself, others and the device from damage! Only use high-quality rotating instruments with a standardized shaft diameter according to DIN EN ISO 1797 amounting to 2.35 mm, cylindrical TYPE 2 from the BAEHR product range. Please observe the specific instructions of rotating instruments when using them. Above all, observe the manufacturer's information on maximum speeds, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. Please refer to the “Rotating instruments” chapter in the current main catalogue of the Gustav Baehr GmbH for more detailed information regarding the instruments (including their specific function). Disinfect, clean and if required, sterilize the instruments after each use according to the specifications of the respective manufacturer of the instruments. Only use cleaned, disinfected and if necessary, sterilized instruments for each new customer, to avoid a possible transfer of germs to the next customer. Disinfect the handpiece after each use and before each new customer (please make sure that no disinfecting agent or other liquids penetrate the device during the process). Please refer to chapter 5.2 of this operating manual for more detailed information. Disinfect all parts of the device that could have come into contact with contaminated particles after each use and before treating each new customer (please ensure that no disinfecting agent or other liquids penetrate the device during the process). The operating staff must wear protective gloves as well as eye, mouth and nose protection when using the device. When using the device, the employees must make sure that neither hair nor any other loose objects such as wipes, cotton or the like can penetrate the area of the rotating instruments. A hair net must be worn where necessary. Objects, which can be caught in rotating components, cannot be in the area of treatment. The operating staff must bear in mind that the particles that are removed when working with the rotating tools may chip. The device must be maintained and cleaned according to the instructions before and after long pauses in use. The device can only be used with accessories approved for the device. Using unapproved accessories can lead to an increased emission or a minimized resistance to interference or other EMC phenomena. The national statutory provisions must be observed during use, in particular:
the currently applicable work regulations the currently applicable accident prevention measures To guarantee constant readiness for operation and preservation of value, the prescribed care work and maintenance services must be performed. The device can only be repaired using replacement parts approved by the manufacturer and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The recommended maintenance services (after notification, but at the latest within 24 months) and inspection and repair work can only be performed by the manufacturer. In line with a repair/maintenance work, please conduct or repeat necessary safety tests if applicable. This device cannot not be modified without the manufacturer’s permission. 2.4.3
Possible risks for customers
The suction technology and filter system used in the BaehrTec A700 significantly contribute to a minimization of potentially pathogenic dust in the ambient air and therefore, reduce the risk of communicable germs (microorganisms). Consequently, the customers’ risk based on inhalation is reduced to a minimum and the treatment of immunocompromised customers is justified. Page 10/60
English – V100 - Last update: 09/2018
Operating Manual BaehrTec A700
Possible risks of infection can be detected by routinely and diligently determining the medical history and in doing so, be prevented. It is extremely important that you only treat areas of healthy skin or nails with disinfected/sterilized instruments, in the event that you previously conducted work in infected areas. 2.4.3.1
Risks due to dust and removed materials
Due to the effective suction system and the filter system used for the BaehrTec A700, the risk to customers based on inhalation of potentially pathogenic dust is reduced to a minimum. A risk due to removed materials (such as nail residues e.g.) is regarded low based on the sufficient distance to the treatment area. 2.4.3.2
Risk due to moving or rotating parts/instruments
Intense pressure and high rotational speeds can lead to an unwelcome heat development in the area being treated and in the worst case, to damage of the tissue concerned due to heat development. The operator must always be aware that an unintentional puncturing of the skin can occur if he or she is inattentive or the customer makes sudden movements (out of reflex). However, this risk is extremely low in the case of professional handling and constant visual checks. ATTENTION! In any case, puncturing the skin must be avoided! 2.4.3.3
Allergy risks
The customer normally does not come in contact with the surface of the BaehrTec A700 but solely with the rotating instruments. Therefore, there can, at best, be a susceptibility to allergies regarding the components of the rotating instruments. However, since the treatment involves a very short times of contact (under 30 minutes), this is a minimal risk. 2.4.4
Possible risks for operators
2.4.4.1
Risks due to dust and removed materials
The suction technology and filter system used in the BaehrTec A700 significantly contribute to a minimization of potentially pathogenic dust in the ambient air and therefore, reduce the risk of communicable germs (microorganisms). Consequently, the operators’ risk based on inhalation is reduced to a minimum. Always wear personal protective equipment (such as face masks, which cover mouth and nose) when working. A risk due to removed materials (such as nail residues e.g.) is regarded a hazard to the operator based on the close proximity to the treatment area. In order to minimize this risk, the operator must wear eye, mouth and nose protection during treatments. 2.4.4.2
Risk due to moving or rotating parts/instruments
Loose objects such as hair, clothing, jewellery, etc. can get caught and wound up in the rotating parts and instruments. To avoid injuries, the operator must make sure that such loose objects do not come in contact with moving parts / rotating instruments. Hair must be tied back English – V100 – Last update: 09/2018

if necessary or a hair net must be worn. When choosing his or her work clothes, the operator must make sure that these cannot get caught in the moving parts / the rotating instruments. These measures minimize the risk. To prevent damage to/scratches on the device and for hygienic reasons, rings or other jewellery cannot be worn when operating the device. 2.4.4.3
Allergy risks
A susceptibility to allergies regarding the materials used in the BaehrTec A700 cannot be ruled out but is regarded extremely low however, can be further minimized by wearing disposable gloves. Disposable gloves should also be worn for hygienic reasons during every treatment session. 2.4.5
Safety information
The device is not approved for operation in potentially explosive areas. Before every application, the operator must make sure of the functional safety and proper condition of the device. Improper handling, maintenance and care can lead to premature wear and malfunctions. This can result in a reduced product life. Therefore, clean and maintain the device regularly and appropriately and send the device to be serviced on a regular basis (observe service indicator or at the latest within 24 months)! Damaged functional parts can cause damage or injuries to persons or objects. Furthermore, this may result in (even greater) damage to your device. Stop working immediately and disconnect the device from the mains when functional parts are damaged and contact customer service. If you put the handpiece down, there is risk of injury when reaching for the handpiece. Injuries from used instruments can result in infections. Please take care when setting down the handpiece, so that you do not injure yourself. Keep children away from the device! Risk of strangulation due to the power cable and handpiece hose. Manipulation of the device by children (for use at home) Risk of swallowing small parts/accessories (e.g. instruments) In households, there is the risk of the power cable being damaged by pets for example. Therefore, please check the power cable regularly for damage and if damage is detected, immediately disconnect the device from the mains! What to observe before every use! It is essential that you read this section with the utmost care! It contains important information on protecting yourself, others and the device from damage!
The term BaehrTec A700 used in this section refers both to the control unit as well as the handpiece. Before use, please check whether the type of current and the mains voltage of the power source are suitable for the use of this device. Information on the type of current and the mains voltage can be found on the type plate on the control unit. When setting up the device, ensure that it is placed on a level base, that it cannot fall down and that the extracted air can escape easily. Keep the BaehrTec A700 away from children. Do not expose the device to direct heat sources (heaters, intense sunlight, etc.). English – V100 – Last update: 09/2018

Make sure the power cable is not damaged by being pinched, bent or rubbed on sharp edges. If you notice any damage to the mains cable, please immediately stop working with your device, turn off the main switch and immediately remove the safety plug from the safety socket. To be able to work with the device again, please order a new power cable. Only use manufacturer approved power cables to operate your device. If you require a new cable, please contact the manufacturer. Operating the device using other cables is not permitted. Never operate the device with a damaged power cable. Your device has a detachable connector plug mechanism (see section "rear view") Please ensure that the device is positioned so that a disconnection is unlikely at all times. Do not work with the BaehrTec A700 in damp rooms such as saunas or bathing facilities for example. Wet conditions and moisture on the control unit can lead to dangerous current leaks, which pose the risk of an electric shock. Disconnect the device immediately from the socket. Please send the device in for servicing with a description of the defect. Before each use (including before first time use), please make sure that the dust bag and all other filters have been inserted correctly. Never work with the device unless all filters are inserted correctly. Avoid significant differences in temperature. These can also lead to the formation of moisture (condensation). Protect the BaehrTec A700 from frost. The device must be switched off and disconnected from the mains before carrying out any cleaning/maintenance work. Disconnect the safety plug from the mains immediately if you discover any damage to or malfunctions of the device. The manufacturer does not accept any liability for damages to objects, animals or persons caused by incorrect operation of the BaehrTec A700. Please ensure that the BaehrTec A700 and the instruments are always in a flawless hygienic condition, to avoid putting your own health or that of others at risk. Find more details in section "Care (disinfection)" of the BaehrTec A700. Rings or jewellery worn while working with the device can cause scratches on the handpiece. Such damage is excluded from the warranty. You should never wear jewellery when working with the device. Please only work with the suction turned on in order to suction off any pathogenic dust and to prevent the handpiece motor or the handpiece from becoming warm. Never submerge the device in liquids and do not suck up any liquids. If you suck up any cotton, paper or the like, this can clog the suction openings in the handpiece. This can severely affect the suction power. If the symbol for a filter change appears on the display, it is essential that you change the dust bag (the display can only function reliably if all filters are inserted correctly. Therefore, only work with the device if all filters are inserted). If you do not do so, the device will automatically switch to suction level 3 after approx. half a minute, to prevent any damage to Page 14/60
