SETUP 1.
Properly spike bag, fill drip chamber to fill line, and gravity prime IV tubing to remove all air from Y sites and backcheck valves.
2.
After IV tubing is fully primed, position and completely close both the roller clamp and blue slide clamp. For proper positioning, see image and detailed instructions on following page.
3.
Adjust pole height to ensure that the fluid level of the hanging solution is 51 cm +/- 5 cm above the center of the Pump (approximately the length of two 1 L IV bags.).
Tips to find proper positioning of roller clamp and blue slide clamp: • Position and completely close roller clamp low enough on set to allow blue slide clamp to be loaded properly. • See image below to view proper placement of blue slide clamp on IV set. There must be enough room above the blue slide clamp to allow any Y-sites to be free from the Pump door. In addition, the blue slide clamp should be closed in alignment with the Baxter logo on the front of the Pump door.
Power On 4.
Press
to power on the Pump.
5.
Pump will run System Self-Test then display Loading Guide.
IV Set Loading 6.
Pull grey door latch up and open door.
7.
Review direction of flow label above tubing channel and align IV tubing from right to left across tubing channel as shown.
8.
Again, ensure blue slide clamp is closed. Review loading points 1-4 on inside of door and insert tubing as instructed below, being careful not to stretch the tubing while also avoiding slack in tubing channel. 1
While holding the tubing left of the blue slide clamp taut, insert the ‘clamped end’ of the blue slide clamp into 1 as shown in diagram. Firmly push blue slide clamp in until a ‘click’ is audible and the grey clip drops down. IMPORTANT: Ensure that the tubing is BEHIND the grey clip. If the tubing is not secured behind the grey clip, reload the blue slide clamp. When properly inserted, the blue slide clamp occludes the set until the Pump is loaded correctly and the door is closed.
9.
2
Gently grasp the set outside the tubing channel and secure into notches at loading points 2 on sides of Pump. Listen for faint “click” sound.
3
Press the tubing into the grey groove at 3 . This is the air in line sensor.
4
Press IV tubing into ALL four notches at 4 .
Ensure tubing is securely placed into all loading points along tubing channel.
10. Grasp gray latch and push door up. Push latch down to secure door. NOTE: Once the Pump door is closed, there should not be any flow visible in the drip chamber.
11. If IV set is loaded correctly, either the New Patient or Select Care Area screens will display. • If IV set is loaded incorrectly, Loading Error screen displays, indicating loading points that need attention with . Open door and properly reload IV set to continue. 12. Open the roller clamp and before connecting to the patient, confirm that no drops are flowing within the drip chamber. • If drops are visible, remove the Pump from service immediately. 13. Attach IV tubing to patient access site.
PROGRAMMING THE PUMP NOTE: If the Pump was previously powered off at the Pause screen, the Pump retains previously programmed infusion values up to 24 hours.

SECONDARY INFUSIONS Secondary Setup 1.
2.
After spiking and priming secondary bag and set, close roller clamp and hang secondary bag so there is 51 +/-5 cm between top of fluid container and center of Pump (approximately the length of two 1 L IV bags). Use secondary hanger to lower primary bag. Scrub upper injection Y site of primary set and connect secondary IV set to primary set.
Secondary Programming NOTE: The primary infusion must have the secondary capability configured within the Drug Library in order to program a Secondary. Programming a secondary may take place while programming the primary or by stopping the primary that is already infusing.
