The Evo IQ Syringe Pump includes many features and functions which may or may not be in your facility’s standard for clinical practice. Some of the features discussed in this pocket guide may not apply to your facility’s protocols.

•

Always follow prescriber orders. Confirm all programming entries with orders from the physician or pharmacist.

•

Each Drug Library is specific to the facility, and drugs are configured for each Care Area.

SETUP 1.

Place the pump at a height that allows you to easily see and interact with the pump.

2.

Remove the IV tubing from the package, tear away the paper tape, and fully extend your tubing.

3.

If manually priming the set, attach a filled syringe to the female luer lock end of your administration set and gently press the syringe plunger to prime the set manually to remove all air.

4.

Close slide clamp, if applicable.

Power On 5.

Press

to power on the Pump.

6.

Pump will run System Self-Test then display Loading Guide.

7.

New Patient or Select Care Area screens will display.

Select Patient 8.

If programmed within past 24 hours, Is this a New Patient? prompt appears. • Press for Yes to clear previously programmed infusion values. • Press

for No to retain previously programmed infusion values.

Select Care Area 9.

If not programmed within past 24 hours, Select Care Area screen appears. • Press arrows to highlight correct Care Area and press .

Syringe Set Loading 10. Grasp the top of the door and pull the door towards you. 11. Review Syringe Loading Instructions inside the door.

12. Squeeze the Driver Head Lever on the Driver Head and pull the arm out. 13. Grasp the Barrel Clamp, pull out and tilt away from the pump until the clamp remains in the far right position on its own. NOTE: The Flange Retainer will pop out when the Barrel Clamp is tilted in the correct position.

Place the barrel flange vertically in the Flange Retainer and pull the Barrel Clamp out slightly and rotate to the left. NOTE: Make sure the barrel flange is in the notch of the Barrel Clamp.

14. Squeeze the Driver Head Lever and gently push the Driver Head to the syringe plunger flange. NOTE: Take care not to bump the Driver Head against the plunger as this may cause an inadvertent bolus or leakage from the administration set.

15. Check the alignment to make sure syringe is secure in the Plunger Grips and is pushed against the Driver Head.

16. Release the Driver Head Lever. 17. Place the administration set into Set Retention Hook on the left side so that the set does not get caught in the door. 18. Close the pump door. 19. If the syringe is loaded correctly, the Syringe Selection screen appears. 20. If syringe is loaded incorrectly, Load Syringe screen displays. Follow instructions on the screen and reload the syringe, if necessary.

Use the arrow keys to select the appropriate Syringe.

Press left/right navigation arrows to scroll through the pages.

to select the syringe brand and size. .

Prime 5.

Manual priming may be your practice, but it is important to use the prime feature to remove mechanical slack and reduce start up time especially at very low rates.

Ensure patient is not connected when Prime function is used. Press the use the pump to prime the line.

PROGRAMMING THE PUMP NOTE: If the Pump was previously powered off at the Pause screen, the Pump retains previously programmed infusion values up to 24 hours.

Programming a Drug 1.

Drug Search screen displays. Use arrows to highlight range containing first letter of drug name and press .

2. Drug Selection screen displays. Use arrows to highlight correct drug name and press NOTE: If prescribed drug is not listed on Drug Selection screen, request drug to be added to Drug Library per facility’s procedures and continue in BASIC mode.

BASIC INFUSIONS CAUTION: BASIC Programming Use. BASIC programming should only be used when the desired drug or concentration is not available in the facility’s Drug Library. IMPORTANT: If a drug is not available in the Drug Library, follow your facility’s procedure to request that the drug be added. NOTE: BASIC mode is outside the safety features of the Drug Library and doesn’t provide drug-specific safety limits.

OPERATING TIPS • Navigating Keypad: The navigation arrows are used to move through the programming and to enter amounts or values. The left/right arrows dictate the place value of the number. The up/down arrows dictate the value 0-9. For all programming, the button must be pressed to activate the field AND THEN AGAIN to accept the entered value. • Keep power cord plugged in at all times, even when Pump is not in use. Only use battery during patient transport or when AC power is not available. • Utilizing the prime feature on the pump may reduce mechanical slack and infusion start up time especially at very low flow rates. • During the entry of time parameters, pay careful attention to the units. Each parameter field clearly denotes the unit of measure for that entry. • Follow on screen prompts to clear alarms. Press minutes.

• Keypad Lock Feature: To lock keypad, press button and scroll down to Lock Keypad. Press . Notice the lock icon in the upper right corner of run screen. To unlock, press and hold button for three seconds until Lock Icon disappears. The automatic keypad lock function can be set from 1-5 minutes or turned off in Menu options. • The Standby Feature is used to retain programmed infusion parameters when the pump is not in use. While the pump is stopped, press “menu” and scroll down to Standby. Press , then press again to activate the field. The hold time can be set from 1 minute to 99:59. Press to confirm Standby time and observe the “blinking” colon on the countdown timer. Press to exit Standby. If Standby is not displayed on the screen, the pump is not in Standby. • Always clamp the line when removing a syringe from the pump.
