500nm Cell Safety Light The product is a special adaptation of a Galaxy Ultra HD-LED surgical light to reduce blue light toxicity in delicate cell tissue. Short wavelengths of visible light, ie visible violet and visible blue light, below 500 nanometers is known to damage delicate cells including embryonic cells, stem cells and human retinal cells. This product has been adapted to reduce this radiation to safe levels. A Cell Safety Light has the suffix F5. White light without the visible violet and blue appears yellow to the human eye. All other functions of the product described in this manual are standard.

2.2
Mobile Emergency Power Supply (MEL Versions only)
2.2.1
Warnings Mains Healthy Indicator - Under normal mains supply the green indicator will be illuminated.
Low Battery Warning – Batteries are about to become exhausted When the mains supply is disconnected then the yellow indicator will illuminate when the batteries are 80% discharged, showing the batteries are about to become exhausted. The operating lamp connected to the system will continue to operate until the batteries become fully discharged. At this point the batteries will be disconnected and the lamp will not illuminate. The mains supply should be re-established before the lamp will re-illuminate.
2.2.2
Storage To store the unit when in regular use; leave the unit connected to an energised mains supply. This will keep the batteries at a ready state and improve battery life. To store the unit when not in regular use; ensure that the unit is charged then disconnect from the mains supply. Isolate the batteries by pushing and holding the storage switch for 5 seconds. The switch is found on the underside of the base, see (Y) below. Failure to isolate the batteries using the storage switch may result in the batteries being discharged. The unit can not be re-energised until mains power is re-applied.

Transporting the Mobile (Mobile Versions only) Before moving the Mobile unit; ensure that the power cable is disconnected from the mains outet and then neatly stowed and that the brake casters are released. Lower the lamphead arm to avoid it swinging around and monitor it in transit. Always pull the unit using the handle on the column see fig X below. Never allow the mobile unit to tilt as it could over balance and fall over, see fig Y. Fig X

Operating instructions
2.5
Using the spring arm for the first time The spring arm is balanced so that it will work only when the lamp head is fitted correctly. Occasionally, the spring arm as supplied is rather stiff to start with and the first time it is operated it needs an extra hard pull to allow the free up/down movement of the lamp head and spring arm.
2.6
Warnings
IU-ALED
!
Do not remove any covers from the lamp heads as there are no serviceable parts inside. The warranty will be invalidated if any covers are removed from the lamp heads.
!
Do not attempt to remove the lamp head as serious injury could occur.
Refer to Astralite LED Routine Maintenance Guide for more information about the general maintenance of the spring arm.

Cleaning instructions !
Do not clean the lamp heads with alkaline cleaning solutions or bleach, which may damage the plastic material.
Brandon Medical approves the use of the following cleaning solutions on its products:
HexaquartR plus – dilute to strength
MeliseptolR rapid – pre-prepared spray
MeliseptolR HBV – tissues.
These chemicals are manufactured by B Braun Ltd and are available from Brandon Medical. To order these products please contact your local stockist. Please ensure that the solutions are not applied to warm surfaces and that any excess solution is wiped from the surface and not allowed to dry as this may lead to a build-up of deposits. Make sure you check the manufacturer’s instructions regarding the dilution factors for a particular solution. You can clean the body of the lamp using proprietary non-alkaline, sterilising solutions as instructed by the manufacturer.
