INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF WITHDRAWAL TUBE
Building 2 105 Windermere Avenue Ellington. CT 06029 Tel: (860) 875 2460 Fax: (860) 872 2371
1. IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: Cryogenic liquefied gases can cause severe cold burns if the liquid comes into contact with bare skin or other exposed parts of the body such as the eyes. Before handling any equipment associated for use with Liquid Nitrogen ensure you have read the Safety Data Sheet provided by the Gas Supply Company and protect eyes, face and skin from liquid splashes by wearing appropriate recommended protective clothing. 2. BASIC OPERATING PRINCIPLES This device is used to draw off Liquid Nitrogen from a Storage Dewar and refill a Cryogenic Spray Unit. When the Tube is inserted into the Dewar the heat from the brass sleeve causes the Liquid Nitrogen to boil off. By completing the seal between the neck of the Dewar and the Withdrawal Tube Plug results in instant pressurization and because there is no closing valve, Liquid Nitrogen flows from the filtered end of the Tube. Liquid Nitrogen will only stop when the Tube itself reaches the same temperature of the Nitrogen or the Tube is removed from the Dewar. 3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Position the bottle under the filter end of the Tube ensuring the filter is below the neck of the bottle. 2. Insert the Tube into the Dewar until a seal is made at the neck. Maintain a slight downward pressure on the Tube using the handle. As soon as the seal is made nitrogen will flow. If nitrogen does not flow, promptly remove the tube and check the filter for debris. 3. Fill the bottle to 75% of its capacity to achieve optimum performance from the Cryosurgery Spray Unit. 4. To stop the flow of nitrogen, simply remove the Withdrawal Tube from the Dewar. If the stopper is jammed rock from side to side to free it. 5. Store the Tube in a clean, dry and safe place in an upright position. 4. CAUTIONS Do not attempt to use the Tube without the filter attached, as excessive splashing will occur. Use extreme care when handling after use. Tubing is very cold. NOTE: If filling more than one unit, approximately five minutes will be needed between fills to enable the brass heat sink to warm up.
