Cane Crono PCA Abbreviated User Guide Caution: These notes apply only to: Pumps labelled only with the model designation CRONO PCA.
Pumps produced after June 2004, with serial numbers greater than 1000.04 Note: Because of the critical nature of applications using this device, in most cases the pump operating parameters will be set by the healthcare providers. Only users with specific training will be able to change these parameters. This guide is only intended to cover those functions available to the user. A separate programming guide is available. Starting the Pump Press the (+/ON) key for 3 seconds. At the start of an infusion [Pr] appears on the screen to allow priming of the infusion set. Press (+/ON) key again to start infusion without priming Or (Only when specifically instructed) Press the (d/Prog) button to initiate a 0.5ml Prime. This may be repeated a maximum of 3 times. Press the (+/ ON) key to initiate infusion after prime. During Operation: The screen will display F#.## to show the flow rate. The F will flash to show infusion is active. Press the (+/ON) button to switch display to show hours to end of infusion. Press the (+/ON) button to switch back to show current flow rate.
Giving a Bolus The pump may be programmed to allow a bolus dose. This may be limited by a minimum permitted time between boluses and/or a maximum number of boluses per 24 hour period. To administer a bolus press the (d/Prog) button for 3 seconds. If you try to administer boluses beyond those allowed within the programming the screen will display [Er.d],[Er.b] or [Er.t] and revert to normal display. No bolus will be administered. Stopping the Pump To stop the pump press the (+) and (-) keys simultaneously. To Reset Syringe Position This procedure must only be carried out when the infusion set/syringe is disconnected from the patient Ø Ø Ø
Stop the pump [OFF]. Press the (d/PROG) button and the (-) button simultaneously. The syringe plunger will withdraw to the start position. If a partial syringe volume has been set the plunger will withdraw only to the set value.
Alarms & Warnings The Crono Pump is extremely reliable and few alarms should be experienced. The following, however, will occasionally occur: This indicates a low battery condition and the battery should be changed before the next infusion. This indicates that the battery has fully depleted and infusion has stopped. Replace battery immediately. An occlusion (line blockage) has occurred.
