6. Daily Inspection and Maintenance  6.3 Cleaning and Disinfection 6.3.1 Objective Lens Clean the objective lens by the following procedure when it is dirty. (1)  Turn ON the power.  (2)  Turn the [IR. FILTER] knob in counterclockwise direction until it stops.  (3)  Look into the objective lens to find any dust or stains.  (4)  Remove the brush from the blower. Blow off the dust from the objective lens with the blower. NOTE: Do not wipe the objective lens when dust or dirt is on the lens. Otherwise, the lens will be scratched.  (5)  When the lens is stained by fingerprints or grease, wipe the surface lightly with sterile gauze or non treated lens paper, on which you can put some lens cleaner. Please consult Canon representative or distributor about lens cleaners that can be used. NOTE: Do not wipe the objective lens with disinfecting alcohol, lens cleaner for glasses, or cleaning paper containing silicone as the surface may be damaged or stained. Also, if the lens is soaked excessively with lens cleaner, the surface will be stained.  (6)  Change the paper and wipe the lens several times until there is no lens cleaner left on the surface.  (7)  After cleaning is completed, set the [IR. FILTER] knob to “IN”, and turn OFF the power.  IR  SP ON  R TE FIL I IN  F  OF  6.3.2 Forehead Rest  ! WARNING  Wipe the forehead rest with ethanol or glutaraldehyde solution to disinfect it each time a different examinee uses it, in order to prevent infection. Please consult a specialist for the procedure for disinfection. If you are using disinfectant other than those specified above, or if you a mixing another disinfectant with ethanol, please also consult a specialist, because they may harm the forehead rest.  – 28 –
