The device described in these Instructions for Use has been designed and tested in accordance with Carl Zeiss Meditec AG safety standards as well as German and international standards. This ensures a high degree of device safety. We would like to inform you about safety aspects which must be observed when handling this device. This chapter contains a summary of the most important information concerning matters relevant to instrument safety. Additional safety information has been incorporated in these Instructions for Use and is marked with a warning triangle and an exclamation mark. Please give this information your close attention. The correct use of the device is absolutely vital for safe operation. Please familiarize yourself thoroughly with the contents of these Instructions for Use before using the device. The Instructions for Use of the equipment used with this device must be observed as well. Supplementary information is available from our Service department or from authorized distributors. The device described in these Instructions for Use was constructed in accordance with the requirements of: –

Notes on installation and use Safe operation •

Do not use the power-operated devices contained in the delivery package –
in explosion-risk areas,
–
in the presence of inflammable anesthetics or volatile solvents such as alcohol, benzine or similar chemicals.
Do not station or use the instrument in damp rooms. Do not expose the device to dripping water, running water, gushing water, sprayed water or splashes.

•
Unplug the power plug immediately if you notice smoke, sparks or unusual noises issuing from your device. In this case, do not use the device again until it has been repaired by our service department.
•
Make sure that no fluids can seep into the device.
•
Never attempt to forcefully connect any electrical connectors (plugs, sockets). If the connection cannot be made easily, check whether the plug fits the socket. If you notice damage to any of the plug-in connectors, have them repaired by our Service department.
•
Potential equalization: if requested, the device can be incorporated into the protective "potential equalization" measures. Contact our Service team to request this.
•
Modifications and repairs of this device, or any device operated together with this device, may only be performed by our Service representatives or by other authorized persons.
•
We do not accept any liability for damage caused by unauthorized persons tampering with the device. Furthermore, this will forfeit any rights to claims under the warranty.
•
The device shall only be transported over long distances (e.g. relocating, returning the device for repair, etc.) within its original packaging or in a special return packaging. For details, please contact your dealer or Carl Zeiss Service.
•
Only use the device in accordance with the Intended use on page 20.
•
Operate the device using only accessories that were included in the scope of supply. If you wish to use other accessories, ensure that Carl Zeiss Meditec AG or the manufacturer of the accessories have verified and confirmed that these accessories meet the respective safety standards and can be used without risk.
•
The device may be operated only by properly instructed and trained persons. It is the responsibility of the institution operating the device to train and instruct all staff who use it.
•
Please keep the Instructions for Use where they can be easily accessed at all times by the persons operating the device.
•
Never look at the sun through the binocular tube, the objective lens or one of the eyepieces.
•
Do not pull on the light guide, power cord or any other connecting cables.
•
This device is a high-grade technological product. To ensure optimum performance and safe working order, we recommend having it checked by our Service team as part of regular scheduled maintenance.

If a failure occurs that you cannot correct using the "Troubleshooting" table, proceed as follows: –
Switch the device off.
–
Disconnect the device from the power supply.
–
Attach a sign to the device stating that it is out of order.
–
Contact our Service team.
Requirements for operation Our Service representatives or an expert authorized by us will install the device. Please make sure that the following requirements remain fulfilled for all future operation of the device: –
All connecting components (details in the Instructions for Use) that are relevant for device safety have been properly connected, and screw connections are firmly tightened.
–
All cables and plugs are in perfect working condition.
–
The voltage set on the device corresponds to the rated line voltage at the site of installation.
–
The power cord has been plugged into a power outlet which is properly grounded.
–
The device is connected by means of the supplied power cord.

•
Make sure that all the specified "Requirements for operation" are fulfilled.
•
Go through the checklist ("Operation" chapter).
•
Reattach any covers or caps that were removed from the device. Close any existing openings with the corresponding caps. Before starting the device, remove the protective cover used for transportation from the objective lens.
•
Pay special attention to labels on the device (warning triangle with exclamation mark) and parts painted red (screws, surfaces).
•
Never cover any ventilation openings.

Whenever the device is in use •
Avoid looking directly into the light source, for example through the microscope objective lens or the light guide.
•
When the illumination is switched on, there is a risk of fire and it is possible burn yourself if the light guide is not connected at both ends.
After every use of the device •
Use the main power switch to switch off the device.
•
The main power switch must always be off when the device is not in use.
Notes on EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) The device complies with the EMC requirements of EN 61326-1, Table 1, Class B. While operating the device, observe the EMC precautions specified below. Only use accessory equipment approved for this device by Carl Zeiss Meditec AG. Do not use any portable or mobile RF communication equipment in the vicinity of the device, as this may impair device functionality. The device meets the RFI requirements of Class B. It cannot be ruled out, however, that interferences may occur in RF receivers (e.g. TV or radio sets) in the vicinity. If such interferences are noticed, please inform Carl Zeiss Service.

Description
OPMI pico on table bracket Intended use The OPMI pico technoscope with table bracket is a practical and convenient technoscope for use as an incident light microscope in the laboratory area and for practicing microsurgical techniques using dissected biological tissue (wet lab).
Normal use The OPMI pico technoscope may not be used to perform surgical or ophthalmological procedures on people. A 5-step magnification changer allows you to set the desired magnification. A 12 V, 100 W halogen reflector lamp is used as the light source. A light guide directs the light to the illumination system of the microscope. This ensures that illumination of the object is almost coaxial with the observation direction and prevents any build-up of heat on the microscope. The lamp module has a built-in filter selector unit with a GG 475 eye protection filter and a KK 40 daylight filter. The device may only be operated after appropriate training and only in accordance with the instructions given in the Instructions for Use. The installation conditions and operation of the device must meet microsurgical requirements:
