Prerequisites
The instrument is factory-calibrated when delivered. If the calibration date has exceeded 12 months, the instrument should be professionally adjusted, e.g. by DrägerService. Optional: If the calibration date has been exceeded, a warning message is displayed after the startup screen. Confirm the warning message with a short press on the button or wait some seconds to continue. After the last alcohol intake, wait approx. 15 minutes before a measurement is carried out. Residual alcohol that is still in the mouth may cause incorrect measuring values. This may also occur by aromatic drinks (e.g. fruit juices), alcoholic mouth sprays, medicines and drops, as well as by burping and vomiting. Rinsing the mouth with water or non-alcoholic drinks does not replace the wait time!

4.3
Carrying out a breath sample A new mouthpiece must be inserted for each person who provides a breath test. For hygiene reasons, hold the mouthpiece only on the grip zones.
Do not allow any high alcohol concentrations on the sensor, e.g. by rinsing the mouth with a high proof alcohol shortly before the measurement, as this will shorten the service life of the sensor. Procedure 1. Remove the safety cap from the top of the device. 2. Insert a new mouthpiece (order no. 83 25 250) in the mouthpiece receptacle (see section 3.1 on page 4). For hygiene reasons, hold the mouthpiece only on the grip zones.

The instrument is ready to use. 5. Take a deep breath and blow evenly and without interruption into the mouthpiece. Do not block the outlet of the mouthpiece. You have to blow a volume of 1.3 liter and at least 1.6 seconds for a valid test. If blowing normally, this will take 2-3 seconds A continuous tone sounds simultaneously and stops, when the test parameters are fulfilled and the device has taken the sample. The test result is displayed after 3 to 60 seconds (depending on the instrument‘s temperature and the measured concentration). In case of a negative alcohol test, 0,00 will be displayed. In case of a positive alcohol test, the measured alcohol level will be displayed. To prepare a new measurement, press the button briefly. After a short recovery time, (see section 8 on page 16) READY will be displayed and the device is ready to use again.

Maintenance
Calibration Dräger recommends a device calibration every 12 months, because of the sensor drift the uncertainty of measurement increases over months. Instrument calibration and maintenance should only be carried out by authorized persons, e.g. DrägerService. The last 30 days before next service is needed, a day count down will be shown as information in the display after switching on the device. Please confirm this information with the button. It shall remind you that the device needs to be serviced in the next days. After the service date, the device starts to count up how many days it is over the requested service. This information can be confirmed by pressing the button as well. Cleaning Do not immerse in fluids and avoid contact of fluids with the connections. Do not use any cleaning agents containing alcohol or solvents. Wipe down the instrument with a disposable cloth.
