This document offers various tips and information on the use of the Embletta system. For more details on how to use the system, please consult the manual or quick start guide included in your system purchase. When using Somnologica for Embletta, you can always access the Online Help on the Help menu or by pressing F1. For further information, contact [email protected] or your nearest distributor.

Multiple Computers

When running Somnologica Studio and Somnologica for Embletta on multiple computers, make sure that all computers are running the same version of the program. On the Help menu, click About. To check your program version:

Performing CPAP Studies

If you perform CPAP studies and are not using a ResMed AutoSet, remember to clear the AutoSet check box when preparing the study in the Recording Wizard.

Sheet Templates

A sheet template is a pre-designed view of a sheet that can be used repeatedly for viewing recordings. To update the sheet templates, you can right click on the sheet tab (near the bottom of the sheet), and then click Update Template. This will save any changes you have made to the sheet.

Removing Unwanted Proxies

To simplify the flow of operations, you can remove proxies that you are not using from the Recording Wizard. To remove proxies from the Recording Wizard: In the Device Manager, click Devices, point to Settings , and then click Embletta. Uncheck all proxies that are not being used.

Customizing Reports

You can customize a report's appearance by hiding unwanted report elements, such as charts or tables. To decide which elements appear in the reports: On the Analysis menu, click Settings . In Report Graphs and Report Sections, select which elements should be displayed in the reports.

Analyzing XFlow

When using the XactTrace belts, you have access to the XFlow parameter. XFlow represents the true flow and is a calculated parameter. The automatic Respiration Analyzer can analyze the XFlow signal in the same way as the regular flow signal from the nasal cannula. On the Analysis menu, click Settings . In To use XFlow in place of the nasal cannula signal: the Apnea/Hypopnea | General section, change the value for Select Trace Automatically to No.

Batteries

The Embletta requires two AA batteries. Rechargeable or single-use batteries can be used but always check that the batteries are fully charged when initializing a study.

Secure the Nasal Cannula

It is easy for the nasal cannula to slip out of place during the night. Fastening the cannula to the patient’s cheeks with medical tape will help secure the cannula.

Artifacts in the SpO2 Trace

If you are experiencing many artifacts in your SpO2 trace from the oximeter, the problem might be a faulty oximeter probe. Try exchanging the probe for a new one.

No Data From the Oximeter

If there is no data coming from the oximeter, check connections to the Embletta proxy and the probe.

Use the Embla Nasal Cannula

Be sure to use the Embla Nasal Cannula with the system. It will increase the quality of your studies and analysis. It will also minimize the likelihood of failed studies. For EKG Recordings

Use the Embletta XactTrace EKG - X30 Extension Package. Record a 1-channel EKG signal in addition to the standard Embletta parameters.

For LM Recordings

Use the Embletta XactTrace LM - X20 Extension Package. Record limb movement activity for the diagnosis of Periodic Limb Movement (PLM). It also records the standard Embletta parameters.

For EEG Recordings

Use the Embletta XactTrace X100 Extension Package. Record 4 channels of ExG in addition to the regular Embletta parameters.

For Online Recordings For Sensors and Accessories

Use the Embletta Online Interface and upgrade to Somnologica Studio. Embla and local distributors are total solution providers. You can purchase all sensors and accessories from Embla or your local distributor.
