1 Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1 Giraffe OmniBed northeast (NE) and northwest (NW) wall latches This Service Instruction applies to the Giraffe OmniBed and Giraffe OmniBed Carestation NE and NW wall latches. The new NE and NW wall latches and receptacles are designed to prevent the bedside panel from fully opening, unless the user completely disengages the latch. This instruction applies to authorized service personnel to remove the old latches, install the new latches, and perform a checkout procedure to make sure the latches are correctly installed. Add this instruction to your service manual for future reference. • Each NE or NW wall latch is designed to fit a specific side on the device. When you replace more than one latch assembly, make sure to install the latches on the correct wall as instructed. • Do not replace the wall latches and receptacles at the south end of the device with the new NE and NW latches and receptacles. • Failure to tighten the screws could result in the bedside panel opening unexpectedly. • Take care to not damage the existing labels on the bedside panel. • Install every part included in the assembly kit.
