Clement Clarke Ophthalmic Synoptophore cleaning & disinfection guidelines This information is supplementary to the instructions for use, due to a level of uncertainty regarding the transmission of infectious disease. It is a more aggressive cleaning procedure, and it is recommended that users adopt this protocol during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Some parts of the device are not meant for frequent cleaning and disinfection, and may become damaged after some time. Please follow local infection control guidelines. Where possible, provide all necessary instructions to the Patient prior to positioning them on the device. To reduce the transmission of disease, face coverings should be used during testing.
Instructions •
Make certain you are in a well-ventilated environment
•
Turn the device off. Disconnect the power cord from the mains before proceeding with disinfection
•
Parts that are in contact with the Patient and/or Operator must be cleaned and disinfected, using >70% isopropyl alcohol or ethanol alcohol, prior to every examination
•
The outer covers may be cleaned and disinfected using a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with a disinfectant. Do not spray directly onto the surface
•
Wipe the optics with lens cleaning paper and cleaning solution
•
Starting in the centre of the lens, wipe in a circular motion slowly and radially toward the edge of the lens. Allow the lens to dry completely before use. The device labels are not designed for frequent cleaning and disinfection, these may degrade if the process is repeated multiple times. The optics are not meant for frequent disinfection and may be permanently damaged if the process is repeated many times.
Ensure no liquid penetrates the device.
