Before placing the patient on the bed
> Carry out individual risk assessments including but
not limited to: • Make sure that all the moving parts are in good working order • caught hazard, • potential falls from the bed, • patient in state of confusion, • patient’s learning ability, • children (aged less than 12 or under 1.46 m tall), • persons weighing less than 40 kg, • persons with BMI below 17, • persons lacking the mental capacity to recognize unsafe actions, • unauthorized persons, • check the list of recommended mattresses.

All persons authorized to use the bed’s functions must be capable of doing so in a safe and controlled manner. In case of doubt, the bed’s functions must be locked.

> When the patient is to be left unattended, the caregiver

must ensure that: • the brakes are applied, • the bed is in the lowest HiLow position, • the electrical functions are selectively locked out according to the protocol specific to the patient, • the siderails are raised only if it is required by the protocol specific to the patient.

Moving the bed
> Before moving the bed, perform the following checks:
• ensure that the siderails are raised and locked, • disconnect the general power cable and the power cable of the electric accessories, • check that the bed and accessories (e.g., patient helper) cannot hit door frames or other obstacles (e.g., lights),

place the patient in a comfortable and stable position.

Electrical function management
> 1. To inhibit an electrical function,
press and hold the lock symbol (A), then press the symbol representing the function to be locked out. The indicator light of the corresponding function comes on to indicate that the function is locked out.
2. To enable an electrical function, press and hold on (A), then press the symbol representing the function to be unlocked out. The indicator light of the corresponding function comes on to indicate that the function is enabled.
