Applications The “AvantGuard® 1600 LI160A2” medical beds with emergency Trendelenburg/Reverse Trendelenburg are variable-height beds for intensive care, for adult patients (emergency Trendelenburg function with battery backup is a mandatory requirement: SHOCK). They are also designed for medical, post-operative and obstetric wards administering intensive care and for the application of advanced specialised techniques, the easy intervention of caregivers, the use of monitoring equipment and the transfer of patients (examination wards, etc.) The “AvantGuard® 1600 LI160A1” medical beds with comfort Trendelenburg/Reverse Trendelenburg are variable height beds for general medical care for adult patients. They are designed for medical, post-operative and obstetric wards administering general care and for the easy intervention of caregivers, the use of monitoring equipment and the transfer of patients (examination wards, etc.).
Before placing the patient on the bed Carry out individual risk assessments including but not limited to: • caught hazard, • potential falls from the bed, • patient in state of confusion, • patient's learning ability, • children (under 12 years of age or under 1.46 m), • persons lacking the mental capacity to recognise unsafe actions, • unauthorised persons. Installation First-time installation Before using the bed, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of this manual. This manual contains instructions for general use and maintenance and the guarantees for improved safety. Caregivers must have access to this manual. Caregivers must be informed of the risks related to the use of electric beds. The many sources and types of accessories, hardware, or medical devices that may be used together with this bed prevents Hill-Rom from being able to guarantee both the safety and conformity of all possible combinations of use. It is therefore the operator who creates these device combinations who must ensure that safety and conformity requirements are met. Before installing the bed for the first time and after bringing the bed and its accessories out of storage: • wait until the bed and its various parts reach room temperature, • remove the transport chocks used to block the weigh system* (if the bed is fitted with this function), • connect the bed to the mains power supply (See “Connection to the Mains Power Supply” page 1-5), • wait 12 hours until the battery is fully charged before using the bed without the mains power supply, • make sure that all of the beds functions are working properly, • make sure that the bed has been cleaned and disinfected (See “Cleaning” page 4-1).
Connection to the Mains Power Supply The mains power supply for the bed must comply with the relevant standards: • NF C 15-100 and NF C 15-211 (France), • IEC 364 (International Electrotechnical Commission) for other locations. Check that the bed’s voltage rating as indicated on the identification label (See “Overview” page 2-9) corresponds to the voltage supply of the hospital. The power supply should be equipped with an earth leakage circuit breaker rated at 30 mA maximum, in compliance with IEC 364-5-53.
