Vascular Assist Short Form Guide Version 5 Software Application 1.
ABPI/TBPI ( pressures only)
Connect the Doppler probe and/or APPG sensor to any of the sockets on the side of the module. Connect the cuff and electric pump or inflating bulb to the pneumatic connections on the module.

to enter patient details and follow step 3, or press
to collect waveforms

Using the QWERTY touch screen, enter ‘assist’ for the password, then enter the patients Surname or Ref. no. and press

If patient details already exist, use the

Wrap the cuff around the left upper arm. Use the touch screen to select Left Brachial Pressure.

Doppler
Fit the APPG sensor to the second finger of the left hand press

Press and hold the probe over the Left Brachial Artery. Carefully inflate the cuff until the audible Doppler signal disappears.
Reduce the gain using keys, until the waveform is just off screen. Inflate the cuff until the ‘spiky waveform’ displayed on the screen reduces into the noise. to deflate the cuff. The system will Press automatically deflate the cuff and record the systolic pressure.
Press the probe switch or press to automatically deflate the cuff. The system will record the systolic pressure. This is the Left Brachial Pressure

Press
and use the touch screen to select Right Brachial Pressure.
Right Brachial Blood Measurement 7.
Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for the right arm.
Recording Doppler pressures and ABPI 8.
Use the touch screen to select the appropriate Doppler site. Repeat steps 5 & 6 using Doppler for the LPT, LDP. LAT. RPT, RDP and RAT.

Press
to view the ABPI. (Note: alternatively use PPG to determine ABPI by
following steps 5 & 6 using APPG sensors).
TBPI Measurement
10. Wrap the toe cuff around the toe under investigation. Use the touch screen to select the appropriate toe.

APPG
Fit the APPG sensor to the appropriate digit and press
.
Reduce the gain using keys, until the waveform is just off screen. Inflate the cuff until the ‘spiky waveform’ displayed on the screen reduces into the noise. Press to deflate the cuff. The system will automatically deflate the cuff and record the systolic pressure.

12. Repeat Step 10 for the other toe. 13. The TBPI’s are displayed.

to save the results (only possible if patient details have been entered first).

to print the report.

to return to the test selection screen.
