HINWEIS: Die genannten Reinigungs-, Desinfektions- und Sterilisationsverfahren garantieren alleine noch nicht die erforderliche hygienische Sicherheit von Instrumenten. Diese lässt sich nur erzielen, wenn nach anerkannten und validierten Aufbereitungsverfahren vorgegangen wird, die einer regelmäßigen Überprüfung/Kontrolle unterliegen. HINWEIS: Die Instrumente sind auf Grund ihrer unterschiedlichen Konstruktion, Beschaffenheit und Anwendung unter Berücksichtigung der Hersteller-Angaben in der Gebrauchsanweisung vor der ersten Aufbereitung zu bewerten. Zu beachten sind: • Wärmeempfindlichkeit: thermostabil oder thermolabil • Instrumenten-Aufbau: glatte Oberflächen – mit Spalten, aufklapp- oder bespülbar – Instrumente mit Gelenken, nicht zerlegbar – Instrumente zerlegbar mit/ohne Hohlräumen – optische Instrumente starr/flexibel • Verträglichkeit Prozess-Chemikalien • Leistungsprüfung (Prozess-Validierung) Empfohlenes Reinigungs- und Pflegezubehör sowie Siebkörbe, Trays und Sterilisationscontainer sind im Katalog „HYGIENE, Pflege, Sterilisation, Lagerungstechnik“ zu finden (Art.-Nr. 96211004x).

NOTE: The stated cleaning, disinfection and sterilization procedures alone are not enough to guarantee the required level of hygienic safety for the instruments. This can only be achieved if personnel follow recognized and validated reprocessing methods which are subject to regular inspection/checks.

NOTE: Due to differences in their designs, properties and applications, the instruments must be assessed prior to initial reprocessing, taking the manufacturer’s specifications given in the instruction manual into consideration: The following must be observed: • Thermal sensitivity: thermostable or thermolabile • Composition of the instruments: smooth surfaces – with crevices, folding or rinsable – instruments with joints, non-separable – separable instruments with/without hollow spaces – optical instruments rigid/flexible • Compatibility of process chemicals • Efficiency test (process validation) Recommended accessories for cleaning and care as well as wire trays, trays and sterilization containers can be found in the catalog ‘HYGIENE, Care, Sterilization and Storage Techniques’ (Art. no. 96211004x).

NOTA: Debido a las diferentes construcciones, naturalezas y aplicaciones de los instrumentos, estos han de evaluarse antes de la primera preparación considerando las indicaciones del fabricante contenidas en el Manual de instrucciones. Instrumente und Zubehör für die endoskopische Chirurgie sind in der Regel empfindliche Präzisionsinstrumente, die eine besondere Sorgfalt bei der Aufbereitung verlangen. Nur geschultes Personal (D: MPBetreibV § 8) ist in der Lage, Demontage, Reinigung, Desinfektion, Prüfung/ Pflege, Montage und Sterilisation durchzuführen, dass die einwandfreie Funktion der Instrumente erhalten bleibt.

The instruments and accessories for endoscopic surgery are, as a rule, sensitive precision instruments which require particular care during reprocessing. Only trained personnel (according to Section 8 of the German Medical Device Operator Ordinance) are in a position to carry out disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, inspection/care, assembly and sterilization procedures in such a way that proper functioning of the instruments is retained.

Los instrumentos y los accesorios para cirugía endoscópica son generalmente instrumentos de precisión delicados, que requieren un esmero especial en su preparación. Blut, Schleim, Ausscheidungsprodukte, Rückstände von Arznei- und Desinfektionsmitteln. Von Reinigung spricht man üblicherweise bei einer Reduktion von Mikroorganismen um einen Faktor von 103, beziehungsweise sie definiert sich durch eine Abreicherung der Kontamination auf einen definierten Grenzwert.

5. 1. 1 Cleaning Cleaning denotes procedures through which undesirable substances and other contaminations are removed, e.g., from surfaces. Blood, mucus, excretion and residues from pharmaceuticals and disinfectants, amongst others, are all considered undesirable here. Cleaning is normally defined as a reduction in the number of microorganisms by a factor of 103, but can also be defined by the depletion in the level of contamination to a specific limit value.

5. 1. 1 Limpieza El término limpieza designa los procedimientos mediante los cuales se eliminan sustancias indeseables y otras impurezas, p. ej., de las superficies. Entre estas se incluyen, p ej., sangre, mucosidad, excrementos y residuos de medicamentos y productos desinfectantes. Normalmente, la limpieza designa una reducción de los microorganismos en un factor de 103, definiéndose pues como una disminución de la contaminación hasta un valor límite determinado.

5. 1. 2 Disinfection Disinfection denotes procedures through which microorganisms are killed, inactivated and/or removed. Disinfection is a reduction by a factor of at least 104-106.

5. 1. 3 High-Level-Desinfektion (HLD) Es handelt sich um einen Prozess, der während einer kürzeren Kontaktzeit als bei der Sterilisation alle Mikroorganismen abtötet, aber nicht große Mengen von Sporen. Die geforderte Reduktion beträgt dabei mindestens 106 (siehe ANSI AAMI ST58).

5. 1. 3 High-Level disinfection (HLD) It concerns a process which requires a shorter contact time to kill off all microorganisms than sterilization, but does not kill off large quantities of spores. The reduction stipulated for this process amounts to a minimum of 106 (see ANSI AAMI ST58).

5. 1. 4 Sterilization Sterilization is characterized as procedures which kill or inactivate viable microorganisms, including spores, and make the transmission of infections impossible. An object is thus considered sterile if the theoretical value of no more than one living microorganism in 1 x 106 sterilized units is reached in the end product (European Pharmacopoeia Ph. Eur. 6.0). This means that from an original figure of 1,000,000 fertile microorganisms, no more than one survives: ‘Sterility Assurance Level’ (SAL). A product may only be described as ‘sterile’ if it

Risk of infection: These instruments are not sterile when delivered. The use of non-sterile instruments poses a risk of infection for patients, users and third parties. Inspect instruments for visible contamination. Visible contamination is an indication that reprocessing has not been carried out, or has been carried out incorrectly. Reprocess the instruments before initial use and before and after every subsequent use using validated procedures.

HINWEIS: Neue oder an der Oberfläche bearbeitete Instrumente weisen eine dünnere Passivierungsschicht auf. Diese baut sich erst nach einigen Aufbereitungszyklen vollständig auf. Eine alkalische Reinigung kann diesen Vorgang unterstützen. Die Passivierungsschicht stellt den erforderlichen Schutz gegen Korrosion dar, den auch sogenannte „rostfreie“ Stähle nur bis zu einem gewissen Maß besitzen.

NOTE: New instruments or those with finished surfaces exhibit a thinner passivation layer. This only begins to build up fully after several reprocessing cycles. Alkaline cleaning can support this process. The passivation layer represents the necessary level of protection against corrosion, which even so-called ‘stainless’ steels only possess to a certain degree.

Instruments undergo cleaning and a final inspection at KARL STORZ prior to delivery. Upon receipt of the delivery, the customer checks the instruments to ensure that they are complete, function properly and have not sustained any damage in transit. Should you wish to make a complaint, a description of the procedure is enclosed with every delivery.

NOTA: Los instrumentos nuevos o tratados en la superficie presentan una capa de pasivación más delgada. Esta se forma completamente después de algunos ciclos de preparación. Una limpieza alcalina puede favorecer este proceso. La capa de pasivación proporciona la protección necesaria contra la corrosión que incluso los denominados aceros “inoxidables” solo poseen hasta cierto grado. Durch die Vibration können sich Kleinteile wie Schrauben und Muttern lösen. Nach der US-Behandlung ist auf Vollständigkeit der Instrumente zu achten. Wenn Ultraschallbädern Chemikalien zugesetzt werden, keine fixierenden Mittel verwenden.

Small parts, such as nuts and bolts, may become loose due to the vibration. Following the ultrasound treatment, check that the instruments are complete. If chemicals are added to ultrasound baths, do not use fixing agents.

Durch die teilweise starke Bewegung des Wassers ist es notwendig, dass alle Teile in Haltevorrichtungen fixiert werden, die eine Beschädigung verhindern. Für eine ausreichende Durchspülung der Instrumente ist es notwendig, dass Hohlräume entsprechend angeschlossen werden.

As there is sometimes strong movement of the water, it is necessary to secure all parts in holding devices to avoid damage. To ensure that the instruments are adequately rinsed out, it is essential to connect up the hollow spaces appropriately.

Debido al movimiento relativamente intenso del agua, es necesario que todas las piezas se fijen en elementos de sujeción que eviten un posible deterioro de las mismas. Para asegurar un enjuague suficiente de los instrumentos es necesario que los espacios huecos se hayan conectado como corresponde.

HINWEIS: Speziell vorgesehene Beladungsträger für die RDG verwenden. Überladung der Siebe vermeiden. Bei der Bestückung des RDG ist zu beachten: • Spülschatten durch großflächige Instrumente vermeiden • Bei Instrumenten mit LUER-Spülanschluss ist bei Konnektion durch die Innenspülung auch eine gute Anspülung der Maulteile gegeben. Für bestimmte Instrumente sind spezifische Adapter zur An- bzw. Durchspülung verfügbar. Informationen hierzu finden sich in den produktbegleitenden Unterlagen. • Die Gelenkinstrumente sind so weit zu öffnen, dass eine gute Anspülung der gesamten erreichbaren Oberflächen stattfindet. Hierfür empfiehlt sich die Verwendung einer Öffnungsfeder (Art.-Nr. 39100 L).

NOTE: Use the loading trolley specially provided for use with the washer and disinfector. Avoid overloading the trays. When loading the washer and disinfector, bear the following in mind: • Large-surfaced instruments must be prevented from covering other parts during rinsing • When rinsing the inside of instruments which are connected via their LUER lock irrigation port, the jaws are also cleaned well. For certain instruments, specific adaptors are available for rinsing off/through. Information concerning this can be found in the accompanying documentation for the products. • Jointed instruments must be opened wide enough to enable effective rinsing of all accessible surfaces to take place. The use of an opening spring is recommended for this purpose (Art. no. 39100 L).

Al cargar la máquina de limpieza y desinfección, tenga en cuenta lo siguiente: • Asegúrese de que ningún instrumento de gran tamaño impida la limpieza de todas las zonas. • En los instrumentos provistos de conexión de irrigación con cierre LUER, el enjuague interno, en caso de conexión, proporciona además un buen enjuague de las mordazas. Para determinados instrumentos se ofrecen adaptadores específicos para el enjuague. En la documentación adjunta al producto encontrará información al respecto. • Los instrumentos articulados han de abrirse tanto como sea necesario para asegurar un enjuague adecuado de todas las superficies accesibles. Para ello, se recomienda utilizar un muelle tensor (n.º de art. 39100 L).

1. Place the product in an ultrasonic bath containing the cleaning solution. 2. If relevant, connect the adaptor 3.
