Durch die hohe Lichtenergie können sich das distale Ende, der Lichtanschluss und angrenzende Bauteile soweit erhitzen, dass es zu Verbrennungen kommen kann! Durch zu geringen Abstand zwischen Lichtaustrittsbereich und Gewebe kann es zu Gewebeschädigungen kommen. Vermeiden Sie direkten Gewebekontakt mit dem distalen Ende sowie dem Lichtanschluss der Optik und des Lichtkabels. Legen Sie das Endoskop und das Lichtkabel niemals auf dem Patienten oder mit direktem Kontakt zu OP-Zubehör ab. Wählen Sie die Lichtleistung der Kaltlichtquelle stets so gering wie möglich, um gerade noch eine optimale Ausleuchtung des OP-Feldes zu erreichen. WARNUNG: Blendgefahr! Schauen Sie niemals in das freie Ende eines angeschlossenen Lichtleiters oder Endoskops. WARNUNG: Verletzungsgefahr für den Patienten bei eingeschränkter Sicht durch defekte Optik. Defekte Optiken dürfen nicht weiterverwendet werden und sind unverzüglich auszutauschen. WARNUNG: Infektionsgefahr! Unsaubere Oberflächen werden nicht sterilisiert. Vor der Sterilisation müssen die Optiken von allen organischen Materialien und Rückständen befreit werden. WARNUNG: Infektionsgefahr durch nicht sterile Instrumente. Nur die in der Gebrauchsanweisung empfohlenen Sterilisationsverfahren verwenden. Jede Abweichung von den empfohlenen Sterilisationsparametern muss durch den Anwender validiert werden.

Warnings and cautions

WARNING: Risk of injury to the patient/ user: Instrument may only be used in accordance with medical rules and procedures for endoscopy. WARNING: Risk of burns for patient/user! The high level of light energy means that the distal end, the light port and adjacent components may become so hot that they can cause burns! Due to the minimal distance between the point where the light emerges and the tissue, tissue damage can occur. Avoid direct tissue contact with the distal end and with the light connection of the telescope and the light cable. Never rest the endoscope or the light cable on the patient or where it is in direct contact with the operating accessories. Always select the lowest light output of the cold light source which still allows optimal illumination of the operating field. WARNING: Danger of glare! Never look into the open end of a connected light cable or endoscope.

WARNING: Risk of injury for patients in the case of restricted vision due to defective telescopes. Defective telescopes must no longer be used and are to be replaced immediately.

The following instructions provide instructions for the correct handling of the miniature endoscopes and neuroendoscopes and related accessories and are not intended as an introduction to endoscopic techniques. Please consult the relevant medical literature for information on endoscopic techniques. Accessories for your miniature endoscopes and neuroendoscopes (catheters, guide wires, lithotomy forceps, lithotripsy probes, laser fibers, electrodes, etc.) can be found in the relevant KARL STORZ catalog. WARNING: Reduce the light intensity until optimal illumination of the operative field is achieved. The higher the light source intensity, the higher the heat emission is at the tip of the miniature endoscope or neuroendoscope.

Las siguientes indicaciones tienen como objetivo la correcta utilización del miniendoscopio y neuroendoscopio y de sus accesorios correspondientes, pero no son ninguna introducción en la técnica endoscópica. Las indicaciones sobre la técnica endoscópica las encontrará en la bibliografía médica especializada correspondiente. Hinweise zur endoskopischen Technik entnehmen Sie bitte der entsprechenden medizinischen Fachliteratur. Für Ihr Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskop geeignetes Zubehör (Katheter, Führungsdrähte, Steinfänger, Sonden für die Lithotripsie, Laserfibern, Elektroden u.a.) finden Sie im entsprechenden KARL STORZ Katalog. WARNUNG: Die Lichtintensität der Lichtquelle soweit reduzieren, dass noch eine optimale Ausleuchtung des Operationsfeldes erreicht wird. Je höher die Intensität der Lichtquelle eingestellt wird, desto größer ist die Wärmeabgabe an der Spitze des Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskopes. WARNUNG: Niemals das Ende des Lichtleitkabels oder die distale Spitze des Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskopes auf oder unter ein Sterilabdecktuch legen. Die Intensität des Lichts kann zu Verbrennungen des Patienten und/oder des sterilen Abdecktuches führen.

• Beachten Sie beim Anschluss und Betrieb von Lichtquellen und Saug/Spülgeräten die Gebrauchsanweisungen der jeweiligen Geräte. Die von KARL STORZ empfohlenen Spülgeräte sind auf einen maximalen Druck von 54 kpa (400 mmHg/7,7 psi) eingestellt. • Die Körperöffnungen, durch die Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskope eingeführt werden, müssen entsprechend der für endoskopische Verfahren anerkannten medizinischen Regeln und Verfahrensweisen vorbereitet werden.

WARNING: Never place the tip of the light cable or the distal tip of the miniature endoscope and neuroendoscope on top of or under the sterile drape. The light intensity may cause burns to the patient and/or the sterile drape.

• When installing light sources and suction/irrigation units, please observe the instructions for use of the relevant units. Irrigation units recommended by KARL STORZ are set at a maximum pressure of 54 kpa (400 mmHg/7.7 psi). • The body cavities where the miniature endoscope or neuroendoscope are to be inserted must be prepared for endoscopic procedures according to recognized medical rules and procedures.

Zu langes Einlegen sowie falsche Konzentration können zu Beschädigung führen. Beachten Sie das mikrobiologische Wirkungsspektrum der verwendeten Chemikalien. VORSICHT: Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskope niemals mit Metallbürsten reinigen. VORSICHT: Der ständige Wechsel zwischen verschiedenen Aufbereitungsverfahren bedeutet eine besondere Belastung der Materialien und ist daher zu vermeiden. Eine einmalige Verfahrensänderung z.B. durch Neuanschaffung von Reinigungsgeräten ist jedoch unbedenklich. VORSICHT: Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskope dürfen nicht im Ultraschallbad gereinigt werden. VORSICHT: Ausschließlich Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskope, die mit einem Ring mit der Aufschrift „AUTOKLAV“ (siehe Pfeil) gekennzeichnet sind dürfen dampfsterilisiert werden. Sämtliche nicht entsprechend gekennzeichnete Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskope dürfen keinesfalls dampfsterilisiert (autoklaviert) werden. Dies würde zu irreparablen Schäden führen. Eine Übersicht der verschiedenen Ausführungen finden Sie auf Seite IV. VORSICHT: Die zulässige Maximaltemperatur für nicht autoklavierbare Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskope beträgt 65 °C für Dekontamination, Sterilisation, Transport und Lagerung. VORSICHT: Miniatur- und Neuro-Endoskope dürfen keinesfalls in physiologische Kochsalzlösung eingelegt werden, da bereits kurzzeitiger Kontakt zu Lochfraß und Korrosion führt.

CAUTION: When preparing and using the solutions, follow the chemical manufacturers’ instructions paying close attention to proper concentration and exposure times. Prolonged exposure or incorrect concentration may result in material damage. Bear in mind the microbiological range of action of the chemicals used. CAUTION: Miniature endoscopes and neuroendoscopes should never be cleaned with a metal brush. CAUTION: Constantly changing between different preparation methods causes particular wear on the materials and must therefore be avoided. A once-only change in methods however, e.g., when acquiring new cleaning equipment, is perfectly safe. CAUTION: Miniature endoscopes and neuroendoscopes should not be cleaned in an ultrasound bath. CAUTION: Only miniature endoscopes and neuroendoscopes bearing a ring marked ‘AUTOCLAVE’ (see arrow) may be steam sterilized. All miniature endoscopes and neuroendoscopes not labelled accordingly may never be steam sterilized (autoclaved). This would lead to irreparable damage. An overview of the various models can be found on page IV.

CAUTION: The maximum permissible temperature for the decontamination, sterilization, transport and storage of miniature endoscopes and neuroendoscopes is 65°C.

CAUTION: Miniature endoscopes and neuroendoscopes should never be immersed in physiological saline solution as even brief contact can lead to pitting and corrosion.

9.1 Aufbereitung von Medizinprodukten unter CJK-Aspekt

9.1 Processing of medical devices with regard to CJD

9.1 Preparación de productos médicos considerando la enfermedad de CJ

Die Aufbereitung von Medizinprodukten zur Prävention bzw. bei Verdacht auf Creutzfeldt-JakobKrankheit (CJK) oder der Variante der CJK (vCJK) muss jeweils auf den aktuellen länderspezifischen Anforderungen beruhen.

The processing of medical devices for the prevention of or in the event of suspected CreutzfeldtJacob Disease (CJD) or the variant of CreutzfeldtJakob Disease (vCJD) must conform to specific national regulations.

La preparación de productos médicos en caso de sospecha de existencia o como prevención de la enfermedad de Creutzfeldt-Jakob (CJ) o de la variante de CJ (vCJ) ha de basarse en las exigencias específicas de cada país.

Grundsätzlich gilt bei klinisch nachgewiesener CJK die Vernichtung der angewandten Medizinprodukte. Bei einer klinisch möglichen CJK sind die wiederaufzubereitenden Instrumente zu kennzeichnen und bis zur Diagnoseklärung isoliert aufzubewahren. Bei nichtbestätigtem Verdacht erfolgt eine konventionelle Aufbereitung, bei bestätigtem Befund die thermische Zerstörung des verwendeten Instrumentariums.

In principle, all medical devices should be discarded if CJD is clinically proven. If there is a clinical suspicion of CJD, the instruments to be prepared should be labelled and quarantined until diagnosis is confirmed. If a non-CJD diagnosis is established, conventional reprocessing can proceed; in the event of a clinical finding, the used instruments should be disposed of by incineration.

En principio, han de destruirse los productos médicos utilizados si hay pruebas clínicas de la existencia de la enfermedad de CJ. En caso de una posible presencia de la enfermedad, hay que marcar los instrumentos y aislarlos hasta la confirmación diagnóstica. Si no se confirma la sospecha, hay que realizar una nueva preparación convencional; si, por el contrario, se confirma el hallazgo, habrá que proceder a la destrucción térmica del instrumental utilizado.

Generell kann für alle dampfsterilisierbaren Artikel aus dem Hause KARL STORZ das von der WHO empfohlene Dampfsterilisationsverfahren sowie die in der RKI-Richtlinie „Die Variante der CreutzfeldJakob-Krankheit (vCJK)“ (2002) empfohlenen Maßnahmen zur Inaktivierung von Prionen verwendet werden (18 Minuten bei 134° C). Eine Verlängerung der Sterilisierzeit auf bis zu einer Stunde ist bei 134° C in Sonderfällen möglich. Zur Klärung, ob das KARL STORZ Instrumentarium zu den darüber hinausgehenden länderspezifisch angegebenen Verfahren kompatibel ist, wenden Sie sich bitte im Einzelfall an die Abteilung Service oder entnehmen Sie die Angaben der betreffenden Gebrauchanweisung (Kapitel Aufbereitung).

Additional recommendations can be obtained from publications by the Commission for Hospital Hygiene and Infectious Disease Prevention of the Robert-Koch-Institute (RKI), the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices and/or the respective national authorities. In general, the steam-sterilization processes recommended by the WHO as well as the RKI guidelines on Variant Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease entitled ‘Die Variante der Creutzfeld-Jakob-Krankheit (vCJK)’ (2002) can be applied to all KARL STORZ steamsterilizable products to inactivate prions (18 min at 134°C). Prolonging sterilization for up to an hour at 134°C is possible in specific cases. NOTE: We recommend the use of a plastic basin (Art. no. 27647 V) for disinfection to prevent scratches, especially to telescope end surfaces. A plastic basin also prevents electrolytic corrosion which can occur if various metals are immersed in a solution. Before cleaning, remove both adapters from the light inlet port b to provide unhindered access to the fiber surfaces.

NOTA: Para la desinfección, recomendamos una cubeta de plástico (número de artículo 27647 V), para evitar rasguños, especialmente en las superficies ópticas terminales. Una cubeta de plástico evita, además, la corrosión electrolítica, que puede aparecer si se encuentran diferentes metales en una solución. Antes de la limpieza, retire los dos adaptadores de los pitones de entrada de luz b, para disponer de acceso libre a la superficie de fibras.

All instrument parts should be rinsed thoroughly, at least three times with demineralized water. Each rinse should last for a minimum of one minute. The used rinsing water should be discarded at the end of each rinse as it is contaminated with the cleaning solution. All parts should be rinsed thoroughly to remove all traces of impurities and residue from cleaning solutions as these can interfere with sterilization results and cause damage to the surfaces.

Enjuague abundantemente todos los componentes del instrumento, como mínimo tres veces, con agua desalinizada. El enjuague debe durar un minuto como mínimo. Tras cada proceso de enjuague hay que desechar el agua de enjuaque utilizada, ya que está contaminada con la solución de limpieza. Die Laufflächen am Hahnreiber dünn einfetten (Spezialfett für Hähne; Art.-Nr. 27657).

Lightly grease the contact surfaces on the cock plug (special grease for stopcocks; Art. no. 27657).

HINWEIS: Diese dünne Fettschicht dient nicht nur der Schmierung der aufeinander laufenden MetallMetall-Oberflächen, sondern auch der Dichtigkeit der Hähne. Öl ist als Dichtmittel nicht geeignet. Hahnreiber einsetzen und mit Federkappe fixieren. Leicht anziehen.

NOTE: This thin layer of grease not only serves to lubricate the metal-to-metal surfaces in contact with one another, but also prevents the stopcocks from leaking. Oil is not suitable as a sealant. Fit the cock plug and fix in place using the spring cap. Tighten slightly.

Engrase ligeramente la superficie de deslizamiento del macho de la llave (grasa especial para llaves; n.° art.: 27657). NOTA: Esta delgada capa de grasa sirve no solamente para la lubricación de las superficies metálicas que rozan entre sí, sino también para la hermeticidad de la llave. El aceite no es adecuado como agente hermetizante. Coloque el macho de la llave y fíjelo con el tapón de muelle. Apriete ligeramente.

Test the cock plug for proper operation. Disassemble the cock plug again for sterilization.
