Warnung: Die Gebrauchsanweisungen und die Schnittstellenspezifikationen der in Kombination verwendeten Medizinprodukte und/oder Systemkomponenten sind genauestens zu beachten. Warning: The electrical installation of the operating room in which the unit is connected and operated must comply with the applicable IEC standards. Warning: Keep out of reach of patients. Warning: The instructions and interface specifications for medical devices and/or system components used in combination must be observed precisely. Warning: Combinations of medical devices are only assured to be safe if • they are identified as such in the respective instruction manuals or • the intended purpose and interface specifications of the devices used in combination permit this (cp. IEC 60601-1-1). Warning: Grounding reliability can only be achieved when the equipment is connected to “Hospital Only” or “Hospital Grade” outlet (i.e., approved for use in an operating room environment). Routinely inspect electrical plug and cord. Do not use if inspection reveals damage. Warning: Always unplug the unit before doing any maintenance work on it (e. g. cleaning). Warning: To avoid the risk of electrical shock, do not open the unit. Refer servicing to qualified personnel. Removal of covers by unauthorized personnel will void the equipment’s warranty.

Caution: The DUOMAT® may only be operated with tubing sets and accessories which have been designated as suitable for the unit by KARL STORZ. Caution: Avoid allowing fluids to enter the unit. Do not store liquids on or above the unit. Caution: Before connecting the unit to the electrical supply lines, verify that the line voltage stated on the unit’s identification plate agrees with that of the electrical supply lines to be used. Caution: Use only fuses of the correct rating. Caution: To avoid contaminating the unit a bacterial filter must be fitted between the fluid collection bottle and the unit.

Entnehmen Sie den DUOMAT® und das Zubehör vorsichtig der Verpackung. Überprüfen Sie die Lieferung auf Vollständigkeit und auf eventuelle Beschädigungen. Sollte die Lieferung Anlass zur Reklamation geben, so wenden Sie sich bitte umgehend an den Hersteller oder Lieferanten. Wenn möglich, bewahren Sie die Originalverpackung auf, sie kann bei einem Transport des Gerätes nützlich sein.

Carefully unpack the DUOMAT® and remove the unit and its accessories from their packaging. Check for missing items and evidence of shipping damage. File any complaints with the manufacturer or supplier immediately. If possible, retain the original packing materials for later use; these can come in handy if the unit has to be transported.

Extraiga cuidadosamente la DUOMAT® y sus accesorios de la caja. Revise si el envío está completo y compruebe posibles averías de transporte. En caso de reclamaciones, diríjase inmediatamente a fábrica o a la empresa suministradora. Note: The DUOMAT® may only be used in medical rooms in which the electrical equipment has been installed in accordance with applicable national regulations.

Das Gerät ist mit einer Steckvorrichtung 햽 für den Potentialausgleich ausgerüstet. Lassen Sie die Erdung ggf. durch sachkundiges Personal durchführen.

The unit is equipped with a connector 햽 for attaching a ground line. The unit’s ground line should be installed by a qualified electrician.

EI equipo está provisto de una conexión equipotencial 햽. Es recomendable que la conexión a tierra sea efectuada por un técnico experto en la materia.

Set the unit on a flat surface. If a bottle holder is used, screw it onto the side of the unit.

Netzsicherungshalter 햻 entnehmen und Spannungswahlmodul herausziehen. Das Wahlmodul so in den Netzsicherungshalter einsetzen, dass die im Sichtfenster an der Rückseite angezeigte Netzspannung mit der lokalen Spannungsversorgung übereinstimmt.

Remove power fuse holder 햻 and withdraw voltage preselection module. Insert voltage preselection module into power fuse holder so that the mains voltage indicated in the window at the back of the power fuse holder agrees with the local voltage supply.

Retire el portafusibles de la red 햻 y extraiga el módulo selector de tensión. Netzkabel anschließen, Netzstecker bis zum Anschlag in Netzbuchse 햺 einschieben.

Connect power cord. Insert power cord into power cord receptacle 햺 as far as it will go.

Note: The following installation steps depend on the accessories that you have for the unit. Fit the bottle cap with connecting pieces onto the suction-line bottle and place the bottle into its holder. Note: Make certain that the cap of the suctionline bottle is firmly seated since adequate irrigation will not otherwise be achieved.

Nota: Los pasos subsiguientes para la instalación dependen de los accesorios disponibles para el aparato. Coloque la tapa provista de boca de conexión en la botella de succión e introduzca la botella en el soporte. Insert the irrigation bottle into its holder. Remove the cap of the irrigation bottle; attach the sterile bottle cap and secure it with the sealing clip.

Deposite el recipiente de líquido de irrigación en el soporte previsto para ello. Extraiga la tapa de cierre del recipiente de líquido de irrigación; coloque la tapa esterilizada y asegúrela mediante la abrazadera de cierre.

Attach the LUER-lock connection of the vacuum tube to the unit’s connector 햴. Screw the bacterial filter into the vacuum line fitting 햵 on the fluid collection bottle and attach the vacuum tube to the filter housing.

Connect the long, grooved section of the puncture cannula to the suction/irrigation tube or the suction/irrigation handle by means of the second silicone tube.

Netzschalter 햲 einschalten. Das Gerät arbeitet mit vorgegebenen, konstanten Druckwerten für Absaugung und Spülung. Absaugung und Spülung können über die Ventile des Saug-/Spülrohres oder des Saug-/ Spülhandgriffes aktiviert oder deaktiviert werden.

Switch on power switch 햲. The unit operates at preset constant pressure values for suction and irrigation. Suction and irrigation can now be initiated using the valves on the suction/irrigation tube or on the suction/irrigation handle.

Conecte el interruptor de la red 햲. El aparato funciona en base a valores de presión preseleccionados y constantes para la succión y la irrigación. Ambas pueden ser activadas o desactivadas a través de las válvulas del tubo de succión/irrigación o del manipulador de succión/ irrigación.

Testing the unit for proper operation

Hinweis: Der Benutzer hat sich vor Anwendung des Gerätes von der Funktionssicherheit und dem ordnungsgemäßen Zustand des Gerätes zu überzeugen. Den vom Geräteanschluss 햳 kommenden Schlauch von der Behälterverschlusskappe 햶 abziehen. Gerät einschalten. Finger auf das Schlauchende legen und prüfen, ob ein Luftstrom entsteht. Anschließend das distale Ende des Absaugschlauches mit dem Finger verschließen und prüfen, ob sich ein Vakuum bildet.

Note: The unit must be checked to ensure safe functioning and proper condition prior to use on patients. Remove the tube coming from fitting 햳 from bottle cap 햶. Switch on the unit. Place a finger on the end of the tube and check whether a flow of air forms. Then seal the distal end of the suction tube with a finger and check whether a vacuum forms.

Nota: El usuario debe cerciorarse de la seguridad de funcionamiento y el buen estado del aparato antes de cada aplicación. Extraiga el tubo conectado al aparato 햳 de la tapa del recipiente 햶. Ponga en marcha el aparato. Toque con los dedos el extremo del tubo y compruebe si hay corriente de aire. A continuación, tape con los dedos el extremo distal del tubo de succión y compruebe si se produce un vacío.

Wiederverwendbare Schläuche sofort nach Gebrauch in einen Behälter mit Reinigungslösung (gemäß Herstellervorschrift) legen, um zu verhindern, dass Verunreinigungen auf der Oberfläche des Schlauchsets antrocknen.

Place the reusable tubing in a container filled with a cleaning solution (as per the manufacturer’s instructions) immediately after use to prevent contaminants from drying on the surface of the tubing set.

Machine preparation of reusable tubing

Preparación mecánica de los tubos flexibles reutilizables Para la limpieza mecánica, es preciso acoplar los tubos flexibles reutilizables a los dispositivos de fijación de tal modo que quede garantizado el lavado de los espacios huecos. En casos de fuerte suciedad visible de los tubos flexibles es necesario llevar a cabo una limpieza previa antes de la preparación mecánica.

To prepare using a machine, connect the reusable tubing to the retaining mechanisms in such a way that the instrument channels can be completely rinsed through. Visible, heavy soiling must be removed in preliminary cleaning prior to machine preparation.

To check for leaks use leakage tester 13242 XL for example. For this purpose connect one end to the leakage tester and block off the other end, with your finger for example. If there is a leak in the tubing set, a pressure drop will be observed on the pressure gauge of the leakage tester.

The suction fluid collection bottle and lid, including the overflow protection unit, can be either steam sterilized or gas sterilized. We recommend steam sterilizing the reusable tubing before use at 134°C (+3°C) using the fractionated prevacuum procedure.

Die Behälter sind so in den Sterilisator zu stellen, dass eine ausreichende Dampfzirkulation und durchdringung gegeben ist, sowie die Luft entweichen und das Kondensat abfließen kann. Den Sterilisator entsprechend dessen Gebrauchsanweisung beladen. Nach Beendigung der Dampfsterilisation müssen die sterilisierten Teile langsam abkühlen.

Warning: Tubing sets may only be sterilized using the fractionated prevacuum procedure. Trays should be positioned in the sterilizer so that there is adequate circulation and penetration of steam, air removal and condensate drainage. Load the sterilizer according to its instruction manual. At the completion of the steam sterilization cycle, all instruments should remain untouched until adequately cooled.

Das fraktionierte Vorvakuumverfahren besteht aus vier Phasen. • Konditionierphase In der Konditionierphase wird in der Sterilisierkammer bis zu viermal ein Vakuum erzeugt. Anschließend wird Dampf eingeblasen. • Sterilisierphase Die Sterilisation findet bei einer Temperatur von 134 °C (+3 °C), einem Druck (absolut) von 300 kpa (3 bar) über eine Dauer von 5 Minuten (Mindestzeit) statt. • Evakuierungsphase Der Dampf wird abgelassen. • Trocknungsphase Die Trocknung findet unter Anlegen eines erneuten Vakuums über eine Dauer von ca. 5–20 Minuten statt.

The fractionated prevacuum procedure consists of four phases. • Conditioning phase The conditioning phase removes air from the chamber by pulling a vacuum up to four times. Steam is then blown in. • Sterilization phase Sterilization takes place at a temperature of 134°C (+3°C) and a pressure (absolute) of 300 kpa (3 bar) over a period of 5 minutes (minimum time). • Evacuation phase The steam is released. • Drying phase Drying takes place under renewed application of a vacuum over a period of approx. 5–20 minutes.

Wartungsdienste können bei Ihrer zuständigen Gebietsvertretung oder beim Hersteller erfragt werden. Unabhängig von den in den verschiedenen Ländern vorgeschriebenen Unfallverhütungsvorschriften oder Prüfungsintervallen für Medizingeräte empfehlen wir eine Funktionsoder Sicherheitsüberprüfung des Gerätes mindestens einmal im Jahr. Detaillierte Hinweise entnehmen Sie bitte der jeweils gültigen Version des Service Manuals, Bestellnummer SV 3403 (englische Version). Hinweis: Um einen sicheren Betrieb zu gewährleisten, sollten alle 12 Monate folgende Prüfungen vorgenommen werden: 1. Prüfung des Ableitstroms vom Chassis <100 μA. 2. Preventive maintenance is not essential. Regular maintenance can, however, contribute to identifying potential problems before they become serious, thus enhancing the instrument’s reliability and extending its useful operating life. Maintenance services can be obtained from your local representative or from the manufacturer. Regardless of the accident prevention regulations or testing intervals for medical instruments prescribed in different countries, we recommend a functional or safety test of the unit at least once a year. For detailed instructions please refer to the version of the Service Manual currently valid, catalog number SV 3403 (English version).

Auf Anfrage stellt der Hersteller ihm verfügbare Schaltpläne, ausführliche Ersatzteillisten, Beschreibungen, Einstellanweisungen und andere Unterlagen bereit, die dem entsprechend qualifizierten und vom Hersteller autorisierten Personal des Anwenders beim Reparieren von Geräteteilen, die vom Hersteller als reparierbar be- zeichnet werden, von Nutzen sind. Das Verfügen über technische Unterlagen zum Gerät stellt auch für technisch geschultes Personal keine Autorisierung durch den Hersteller zum Öffnen oder Reparieren des Gerätes dar. Ausgenommen sind im Text der vorliegenden Gebrauchsanweisung beschriebene Eingriffe.

On request, the manufacturer will provide those circuit diagrams, itemized spare parts listings, descriptions, sets of adjustment instructions, and other items of available documentation to suitably qualified user personnel duly authorized by the manufacturer for their use in repairing those components of the instrument that have been designated as reparable by their respective manufacturers. Supply of such technical documentation relating to the instrument shall not be construed as constituting manufacturer’s authorization of user’s personnel, regardless of their levels of technical training, to open or repair the instrument. Explicitly exempted herefrom are those maintenance and repair operations described in this manual.

Folgende von KARL STORZ hergestellte Instrumente und Optiken sind nicht für ein komplettes Einlegen in Flüssigkeiten geeignet: Optiken mit Okularfokussierung n. HAMOU®, Lupen mit Fokussierung, IMPERATOR Bohrhandstücke, Prismenscheinwerfer. Bei Motoren und deren Handstücken sind die Angaben in der jeweiligen Gebrauchsanweisung zu beachten. Folgende von KARL STORZ hergestellte Instrumente sind nicht für eine Ultraschallreinigung geeignet: Starre Optiken, Flexible Optiken, sonstige Instrumente mit optischen Glasbauteilen. Beachten Sie bitte, dass bei der Herstellung und Anwendung der Lösungen die Herstellerangaben über Konzentration und Einwirkungszeit genauestens zu beachten sind. Bezüglich der mikrobiologischen Wirksamkeit wenden Sie sich bitte an den Hersteller. Folgende Mittel sind von KARL STORZ freigegeben bzgl. der Materialkompatibilität:

The following instruments and telescopes produced by KARL STORZ must not be fully immersed in a liquid: HAMOU® telescopes with ocular focusing, magnifiers with focusing, IMPERATOR drill handles, prismatic light deflectors. For motors and their handles the appropriate manual provides detailed information. The following instruments produced by KARL STORZ must not be placed in an ultrasound cleaning bath: rigid telescopes, flexible telescopes, other instruments with optical components made of glass. When preparing and using the solutions, follow the solution manufacturer's instructions, paying close attention to concentration and exposure times. Regarding the microbiological effectiveness please ask the manufacturer. The following cleaning and disinfectant solutions have been approved regarding material compatibility:
