GENIUS™ 2 thermometer cleaning guide Your GENIUS 2 thermometer should always be inspected prior to use. Follow these simple step by step cleaning instructions to ensure maximum performance from your GENIUS 2 infrared tympanic thermometer.

Always ensure your GENIUS 2 thermometer is clean, especially the probe tip lens. A dirty lens will reduce the temperature reading.

The lens must always be checked prior to use. It should have a mirror-like finish, and be free from debris, fingerprints and smudges.

If the lens remains soiled, clean with a cloth or cotton bud dampened with warm water and mild detergent, or with isopropyl alcohol wipes. Always allow 45 minutes drying time with alcohol cleaning.

Return the thermometer to its base unit and allow upto 45 minutes drying time prior to using the thermometer if alcohol has been used on the Probe Tip.

For routine lens cleaning, wipe with a lint-free cloth.

Always point the probe tip downwards when cleaning the lens. Follow this cleaning by wiping the lens with a lint-free cloth to remove any excess alcohol / detergent film.

To clean the handset and base, use warm water and a mild detergent. Water temperature should not exceed 55˚C.

Always remember:

• Always use a new GENIUS 2 AccuSystem™ probe cover for each temperature reading.

• Do NOT soak, submerge or rinse the GENIUS 2 thermometer under water.

• Never use an abrasive pad or an abrasive cleaner on the GENIUS 2 thermometer.

Do not use alcohol on the LCD screen of the thermometer as this may cause damage.
