Golvo 8000/8008
Product Description Golvo is a versatile mobile lift, intended for use in most lifting situations, for example, between bed and wheelchair, to/from toilet, bath and shower, to/from the floor, for weighing purposes and for lifting with a stretcher. Due to its foldable arm rests, Golvo can to advantage be used for gait training. The wireless hand control gives the caregiver the freedom to work closer to the patient, which provides extra security in the lifting situation. For the caregiver this also enables an ergonomically enhanced work posture. Golvo is equipped with the Liko Diagnostic System™, a monitoring system which continually registers operating data and automatically indicates when the lift is in need of service.
The battery of the lift has built-in charge indicator where the charging status of the battery can be read, even when the battery is not attached to the lift. The battery is of environmentally friendly NiMH type. Golvo LowBase™, with its extra low base, height clearance of 58 to 110 mm (2.28 to 4.33 inch.), is suitable for lifting to and from beds/gurneys. Individual fitting of the sling and other lifting accessories is of utmost importance for function and safety when using the lift.
is a warning triangle used for situations which require extra care and attention. In this document, the person being lifted is referred to as the patient, and the person helping is referred to as the caregiver.
IMPORTANT!

Replacing the Hand Control Batteries When the indicator A on the hand control flashes (yellow), the batteries in the hand control should be replaced. Use 2 batteries of type AAA LR03 1.5 V, alkaline. Remove the back cover using a cross-head screwdriver. Replace the batteries. Refit the back cover.
Installation of latches After installation, check that the latch locks and runs freely in the sling bar hook.
Lock
Unlock
Locking the Wheels The rear wheels can be locked to prevent rotating and turning. The locking/unlocking of the wheels is done with the foot. When lifting, the wheels should be unlocked so that the lift can be moved to the patient’s centre of gravity. The wheels should be locked however, if there is a risk of the lift rolling into the patient, for instance, when lifting from the floor.
Mechanical emergency lowering Emergency lower by moving the handle marked ”Emergency lowing” up and down. Repeat the motion until the patient in the lift is lowered onto a firm surface; draw down the sling bar manually and continue to pump the handle until the sling bar is low enough to enable the sling’s strap loops to be unhooked.
Locked wheels during lifting can increase the risk of tipping. Golvo • 7EN140105-02
w w w . l i k o . com
a
Adjustment of the lift interval level If it is necessary to reach a lower level with the sling bar, this can be arranged by lengthening the lift strap using the mechanical emergency lowering device. Do not lengthen the strap more than necessary as the highest obtainable lifting level is also affected. An example it would be advantageous to lower the lift interval is when lifting from the floor using a sling whose strap loops do not reach up to the sling bar hooks when the lift is in its lowest position. Do as follows: Push down the red emergency lowering handle at the same time as loading the sling bar (pull down the sling bar with your other hand). This extends the strap and the sling bar is lowered. Repeat until the required strap length is obtained.
After mechanical emergency lowering / Restoring the lifting level If the lift strap has been lengthened due to using the emergency lowing function, the lift interval height will be lower than previously. To restore maximum lifting height, the lift strap must be reset to its original length. Do as follows: 1. Unload the strap above the emergency lowering device. Do this by either placing the sling bar above the lift arm or by another person holding the sling bar up so that the strap hangs loose. 2. L ower and raise the handle marked ”Emergency lowering” with your left hand. At the same time tension the strap by turning the black knob (a) clockwise with your right hand. Repeat this procedure until the red mark on the strap is just above the emergency lowering device. WRONG!
WRONG!
Parking the sling bar Avoid unbalanced lifting When the lift is not in use or is being moved without a load, it Always ensure that the lift strap is vertical and parallel to can be beneficial to place the sling bar in the parking panel. the lift mast when lifting. To achieve this, think of Golvo’s position under the bed. Adjust the width and/or place Golvo The parking panel is intended for parking Universal SlingBars differently under the bed to achieve the correct position. 350, 450 and 600 (all models). Do not lift when the load is unbalanced on the lift strap When the sling bar is parked in the parking panel, the as this can cause instability as well as wear the strap. lift should not be raised since this could be dangerous Unbalanced lifting poses a tipping risk! and cause personnel injury or damage to the lift if the sling bar should release and swing out from the panel.

Arm rests If needed, the armrests can be lowered from rest to support position. The armrests have two purposes: to help the patient feel more secure and to facilitate moving the lift on the part of the caregiver. When using the lift to transfer a patient between rooms, the armrests should be lowered to the support position!
HandControl IR
Before Use Always enable the HandControl IR with the lift in question, see Enable IR control. The hand control has 6 buttons: Up Down nable IR control: E Hold the HandControl IR approx. 20 cm (8 in) from the control box’s IR receiver and press the hand control’s large Up and Down buttons simultaneously for approx. 2 sec. When a sound signal is emitted, the function is enabled. The lift is now ready to be used with the HandControl IR.
Up (lower speed) Down (lower speed) Base widening Base narrowing
If the lift has not been used for more than 24 hours, the system must be enabled by pressing any button on the control box operation panel before the HandControl IR can be used. One HandControl IR can control different patient lifts from Liko, equipped with the same IR system. For more information, read the section ”Communication Mode” on page 11.
Operation Panel The lift can be operated directly from the operation panel on top of the control box. On the operation panel there are a number of indicator lights with corresponding symbols; see the description below. Operation Panel Indicator Lights:

Communication Mode (This lift is delivered in unique communication mode.) The lift has two different communication modes: Unique Communication Mode: The lift will only be controlled by the HandControl IR (one or more), which is enabled for IR control of the lift. Open Communication Mode: More than one lift can be controlled from one (or several) HandControl IR. Important! If more than one IR-controlled lift is used in the same room, each lift must be set to the unique communication mode in order to avoid several lifts from being affected simultaneously by one HandControl IR only. Switching Communication Mode. When necessary to switch or confirm the communication mode, the two large Up and Down buttons on the operation panel of the lift should be used. Press both buttons simultaneously for approx. 2 sec. Await an acoustic and a visual signal from the operation panel. Unique Communication Mode is indicated by: an acoustic and visual signal. Open Communication Mode is indicated by: two acoustic and visual signals. Finish by enabling the IR control with the HandControl IR, see page 10.
Charging the Batteries 2 3 4
1
Battery Capacity Check the battery capacity by pressing the i button (1). The following information is available: 2 - Green light: More than 50 % of the battery capacity remains. 3 - Orange light: 25–50 % of the battery capacity remains. 4 - Orange light: 0–25 % of the battery capacity remains. The indication lamps light up for about half a minute; they then go out. The battery capacity is also shown when the lift is in use.
To obtain max. service life, it is important to charge the batteries regularly. We recommend charging after use of the lift or every night. Maximum charge is obtained after about 5 hours. When the batteries are fully charged, the charger switches to trickle charging automatically. During charging the lights shine alternatively (orange, orange, green). For deeply discharged batteries, the indication for initiated charging can be delayed a few minutes. Completed charging is indicated by a flashing green light. When the operation time is noticeably shortened, the batteries probably need changing. Stop charging and switch batteries. Never charge batteries in a wet area. The lift cannot be charged with the emergency stop engaged. NOTE! If the lift is not to be used for a long period, the battery should be connected to charging.
Charging With built-in charger: heck that the charger cable is connected to the control box outlet; see p. 6. C Connect the charger cable to an electrical outlet (100-240 V AC). Completed charging is indicated by a flashing green light on the battery. If the charger cable is permanently stretched, it should be replaced in order to minimize the risk of the cable getting stuck and breaking.
NOTE! The lift cannot be used when the charger cable is plugged into a wall socket. Old batteries are to be deposited at the nearest recycling station or given to personnel authorized by Liko.

Maximum Load
Different maximum loads may apply to different products on the assembled lift unit: lift, sling bar, sling and any other accessories used. For the assembled lift unit, the maximum load is always the lowest maximum load rating for any of the components. For example, a Golvo which is approved for 200 kg (440 lbs) can be equipped with an accessory which is approved for 300 kg (660 lbs). In this case, the maximum load of 200 kg (440 lbs) applies to the assembled lift unit. Study the markings on the lift and lifting accessory, contact your Liko/Hill-Rom representative if you have any questions.
Recommended Lifting Accessories
Using lifting accessories other than those approved can entail a risk. Generally recommended sling bars and accessories for Golvo mobile lifts are described below. When changing a sling bar or other lifting accessories, the highest possible lifting height of the lift is affected. Before changing lifting accessories you should always ensure that the lift, after change, can fulfill the desired lifting height in order to manage the lifting situations for which the lift is to be used. To select suitable slings and other lifting accessories, refer to the brochures “Golvo” and “Lifting accessories”. For additional guidance in selecting a sling, refer to the instruction guides for the respective sling models. Here, you will also find guidance for combining Liko’s sling bars with Liko’s slings.
