Safety Instructions Before lifting, remember the following: • Note that the sling’s geometry changes when you attach Extension Loops to individual strap loops. A change to the sling’s geometry can affect safety, so be careful during the testing phase, which is to be conducted by an authorized prescriber. • Check to make sure that the Extension Loops are correctly attached to the sling / lifting accessories before each lift. Be especially attentive after washing. • Although Liko’s slingbars are equipped with safety latches, special caution must be exercised: Before the patient is lifted from the underlying surface, but after the straps have been fully extended, make sure the straps are properly connected to the slingbar.

Read the instruction guide for both the patient lift and lifting accessories before use. It is important to completely understand the contents of the instruction guide. The equipment should only be used by trained personnel. Ensure that the lifting accessories are suitable for the lift used. Exercise care and caution during use. As a caregiver, you are always responsible for the patient’s safety. You must be aware of the patient’s ability to make it through the lifting situation.

Care and Maintenance Inspect the lifting accessories regularly, especially after washing. Be especially attentive to wear and tear and damage to seams and straps. Do not use damaged lifting accessories. If anything is unclear, please contact the manufacturer or the supplier. Washing instructions: See the lifting accessorie’s product label.

Areas of Use

1. Increasing the distance between head and slingbar Extend all the sling’s/lifting acces­ sory’s strap loops to increase the distance of the patient’s head from the slingbar. Note that the longer the extension loops used, the higher the sling’s construction height, which can make a lift to the desired level more difficult.

2. Simplifying connection to the slingbar If the sling’s/lifting accessory’s strap loops do not reach up to the slingbar – extend all the sling’s strap loops in order to improve ease of connection. Too much extension can make it difficult to lift the patient to the desired level.

3. More upright sitting position When you connect the leg supports on a sling overlapped under both legs, you may sometimes need to extend the leg support loops to achieve a more upright sitting position.

4. Less bend in the hip Extend the sling’s leg support loop to achieve a more open hip angle. This can be done on one or the other or both leg support loops as needed.

5. Adjustment of loop strap length Extend the sling’s/lifting accessory’s loop straps if they are too short. The Extension Loop can be attached to one of the outer loops on the loop strap as needed.

6. In combination with Comfort Sling Plus/Comfort Sling When you combine Comfort Sling Plus Mod. 300/310/350/360 or Comfort Sling Mod. 30/31/35/36 with Liko Sling Cross-bars or Side Bars you must always extend the slings upper strap loops. This combination provides a more reclined sitting position with less bend in the hip joint. See the instruction guides of the slings.
