Fill Syringes
The following guide describes the basic instructions to operate the OptiVantage in dual mode.
In order to fill the syringe, the Powerhead must be tilted up in a position 60° or greater from horizontal in order to ensure optimum removal of air. The lighted knobs on the back of the injector will flash blue to indicate proper tilt angle.
Power-up The unit can be powered up by either pressing the power-up button on the Console or by pressing and holding for a few seconds the touch screen on the Powerhead.

Air Purge Attach the “Y” tubing to the syringes using aseptic technique. Rotate the Powerhead vertically to allow air bubbles to rise to the tip to form an air pocket. Using either the expel arrow or the manual knob, advance the CONTRAST plunger to push CONTRAST just past the y-intersection of the “Y” tube. Advance the SALINE plunger to push SALINE past the y-intersection and out through the extension tubing.
Auto Fill 200 mL Syringe Load the syringes into the Powerhead making sure the appropriate syringe is installed on the appropriate side. The user can select the side dedicated to contrast in the set-up screen from the Main Menu.

200 mL syringes can be filled using the Auto Fill feature accessible only from the Powerhead screen. To activate the Auto Fill feature, tilt the Powerhead in a position 60° or greater from horizontal. Install the 200 mL syringe into the pressure sleeve. Rotate the lever to the lock position and the Auto Fill screen automatically appears on the Powerhead screen. Update the volume parameter as required. Press the [Start Auto Fill] key and the injector will automatically fill the syringe. (Note: The fill sequence intakes then expels approximately 25 mL of fluid, then fills to the required volume in order to limit air intake in the syringe.)

The 200-mL syringes can be removed at any time. However, removal of the pre-filled syringe requires the ram to be fully retracted. The attached “Y” tubing must be removed prior to retracting the ram to prevent the syringe from drawing fluid. After the 200-mL syringe has been removed, move the ram to the fully extended position using the directional arrows on the Powerhead.
