1.3 BACTERIAL FILTER Note: MAQUET recommends that a bacterial/viral filter is always connected to the expiratory connection on the patient cassette. This will minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
1
1.
Attach new bacterial/viral filter to the expiratory inlet.
1.4 MANUAL BREATHING BAG 1.
Attach manual breathing bag and tubing to the FLOW-i.
2.
Hang the breathing bag on the hook (if provided) – or use a manual breathing bag holder.

1.8 BACKUP GAS SUPPLY (OPTION) BACKUP GAS SYSTEM C20 AND C30 MODELS The C20 and C30 models can be equipped with a backup gas system (1) that is configured to deliver either O2/Air or O2/N2O via backup cylinders (2) for each gas. The backup gas system with gas hoses and cable (3) are permanently attached to the FLOW-i and shall only be removed by a service technician trained and authorized by MAQUET.

1.9 RESUSCITATOR: An independent means of ventilation, e.g. a manual resuscitator, must be available whenever the system is in use. Therefore, check that there is one readily available and working correctly.
1.10 SUCTION UNIT AND AUXILIARY O2 FLOW (OPTION) If the option of the suction unit and auxiliary O2 flow is installed on the FLOW-i, then the following should be checked:
Note: Please refer to FLOW-i User´s Manual V3.0 for more details regarding the auxiliary O2 and suction module option.
Note: The suction unit cannot be operated without a correctly placed bacterial/viral filter (1).

SUCTION UNIT The suction unit is tested during the preparation stage of the System checkout procedure. 1.
Close the suction system by occluding the end of the suction hose.
2.
Turn on suction unit (1) and turn regulatory valve (2) counter-clockwise to verify negative pressure build-up. The current pressure is displayed on the Vacuum gauge (3).
Note: The central gas supply pressure should be above 300 kPa (3.0 bar, 44 PSI) when the Auxiliary O2 and suction module are connected to the system.
