1 Introduction 1.1 Manufacturer’s Information on this Manual By purchasing the product TFB 35, you (in the following: customer) got a quality product of Medite GmbH (in the following: Medite®). This manual provides all information that are necessary for usage in a technical correct manner. The customer ensures to read the manual intently and to follow all applying advice to guarantee correct usage of the device. All information stated in this manual are consistent with the current state of science and technique at the time of purchase of the device. Medite® is not committed to update the manual regularly. No subsequent delivery by default will be effected. Details, sketches, technical drawings etc. concerning the actual product features may vary. The actual product features are specified within the terms of the purchase contract between Medite® and the customer. 1.2 Important Information 1.2.1 About this Manual This manual shall help you handling the device. Please read the manual completely and follow the advice. Acquaint yourself to the control elements and their functionality by studying the figures. This way, an adequate use of the device is ensured. 1.2.2 Used symbols and their meanings Danger warning: Danger warnings are marked by a red framed triangle.
Warning: Warnings are marked with a yellow warning triangle.
Heat warning: Heat warnings identify parts and situations of the device with high temperatures.
Notice: Notices, meaning important information for the user, that are not classified as danger or warning, are marked with an information symbol.

1.3 Intended Use The TFB 35 is made for the purpose of embedding tissue specimens in histology and pathology laboratories. Processing of food is not permissible. The conditions for operation, maintenance and service mentioned in this instruction manual have to be strictly observed.
1.4 Authorized Operators The TFB 35 must be used only by those persons who have been authorized by the owner. In his working area, the operator is responsible with regard to third persons. The owner must give the operator access to this instruction manual and make sure that the operator has read and understood its contents. 2 Safety
Any failure to comply with the approved technical regulations for the operation of technical equipment or any non-intended use of the instrument will void the manufacturer’s liability.
2.1 Installation The TFB 35 must be placed on an even and solid basis. An overturning instrument means an accident risk.
Unauthorized changes and technical modifications of the instruments are not permitted for safety reasons. For the exchange of defective parts, only original Medite® spare parts are to be used.
Use the device only with the allowed power supply.
Do not use the device in explosion-risk areas.
Safety devices on device and accessories are not to be removed or modified.
2.2 Working with the TFB 35 Tissue Floatation Bath
When working with the TFB 35, take personal safety measures. Caution! Parts of the TFB 35 can reach high temperatures.

4 Transport and Installation 4.1 Transport/ Storage The Tissue Flotation Bath TFB 35 is delivered in a protecting box. Please move it only upright and avoid shock.
4.2 Unpacking Put the instrument on an even, solid surface and remove the protecting box and plastic wrap. If possible, keep the packing material to avoid damages in case of a later transport of the unit. Check whether the equipment is complete. The TFB 35 is supplied with one power cord and one instruction manual.
4.3 Installation and Connection Before starting the instrument, please make sure that your mains voltage corresponds to the value indicated on the instrument (example: for an instrument requiring 240 Volts, 200 - 240 Volts should be available; for a 115 Volts instrument, there should be 100 - 125 Volts.) The instrument is supplied ready to use. For connection to mains the included power cord must be used. It must be connected to a socket with intact ground wire.
The minimum distance of the instrument back to the wall or other instruments should be at least 10 cm to guarantee a sufficient ventilation. Do not place any inflammable or combustible material near the instrument.

5 Operation 5.1 Operating conditions:
The operation is only allowed in closed rooms
Laboratory bench free of vibrations and strong enough for the instrument’s weight
Environmental temperature from + 15°C to + 45°C
(without large variation in temperature)
At maximum 80% relative humidity of air, not condensing
The instrument must not be exposed directly to the sun
Guaranteeing a sufficient air circulation for cooling, the instrument needs enough space (minimum 15 cm) to all sides
5.2 Switching on The instrument can be switched on by pressing the power switch to position “I” at the front of the instrument.

5.3 Adjust the temperature controller The illuminated switch lightens up, indicating that the instrument is ready to use. The unit is now in working mode and temperature controller shows the water temperature. The temperature of the working plate is infinitely variable between +30C and +55, respectively. The temperature is regulated and indicated by the electronic temperature controller on the front panel.

5.4 Inserting and removing the glass tray Lift the temperature sensor up to its highest position and turn it 45 counter-clockwise. Remove the tray. In order to insert the tray proceed in opposite order. Turn back the temperature sensor 45 in opposite direction and push it down. The tip of the temperature sensor must be at least 15 mm below the water level. Otherwise a reliable temperature regulation is not possible.

6 Errors 6.1 Change of fuses
Caution! Pull out the mains plug first!
In case of a failure first check the fuses in the mains socket at the back of the instrument and change them if necessary. Fuse Holder

In case of any other defect please contact the service department. Take out the fuse socket by means of a screw-driver. Bend opens the tongue. Take the fuse holder out of the socket.

These errors must be corrected by an authorized service engineer only! Never remove any parts of the casing while the instrument is on power. The exchange of defective parts (except as indicated) and other intervention may be made by authorized service engineers only.

7 Cleaning and Recycling 7.1 Cleaning
Before dismounting the fuses pull out the mains plug!
The glass tray and the inner surfaces may be cleaned with any non-scratching household cleaner. For safety reasons first pull out the mains plug.
7.2 Recycling After end of the total period of use please deliver the equipment to a regular disposal facility. The company MEDITE as manufacturer is also prepared to take back the equipment for disposal against payment for the disposal fee.

9 Care Declaration We are always extremely anxious fort he safety of our customers and users of our products. Our products need regular care and cleaning. To ensure long and good operating with our products, we ask our customers for careful handling of the purchased equipment. By purchasing the equipment, the customer assures to keep the device always in good order and condition for use, to protect himself or third parties against any unnecessary risk.
In case of maintenance or repair, we kindly ask the customer to make sure that the device and the accessories in question are in a state that bares no health risks for every person that gets in touch with it in the process. This includes everyone who prepares the device for dispatch, performs the dispatch, or takes and unpacks the delivery, and also the Medite® service staff. The customer arranges for appropriate measures in packing, or for explaining messages concerning the known sources of danger.
