SCOPE BUDDY PLUS ™
Endoscope Flushing Aid
USING SCOPE BUDDY™ PLUS ENDOSCOPE FLUSHING AID TO ASPIRATE OLYMPUS® EUS ENDOSCOPES KNOWLEDGE BUILDING
For Olympus® EUS endoscopes, the aspiration steps are time-based, not volume-based. This means the time required for each step is the same for both SCOPE BUDDY™ PLUS Flushing Aid and wall/portable suction. The suction valve (MAJ-1443) on OLYMPUS® EUS Endoscopes has 2 stages. •
•
First Stage: When depressed to the first stage, suction is activated. It is also used to remove any fluid or debris adhering to the objective lens. Second Stage: When depressed completely, it activates the suction of sterile water from the balloon through the balloon channel to deflate the balloon.
SETTING UP AN OLYMPUS EUS ENDOSCOPE FOR ASPIRATION USING SCOPE BUDDY™ PLUS FLUSHING AID ®
With the endoscope in the sink with detergent water, attach 24-Hour Multi-Use Hookup for OLYMPUS® Endoscopes to the endoscope and close all pinch clips. For Linear EUS endoscopes, ensure the instrument channel cleaning adapter (MAJ-350) is attached. •
Attach 24-Hour Multi-Use Hookup for OLYMPUS® Endoscopes to pump tube.
•
Push blanking cap for OLYMPUS® Endoscopes onto the endoscope’s air/water channels.
•
Install OLYMPUS® Suction Valve (MAJ-1443) into the suction cylinder of the endoscope.
•
Leave the biopsy/instrument port open.
•
Select the desired aspiration time by using the up and down arrows (see aspiration section on the next page to determine desired scenario).
•

ASPIRATION
Set the aspiration time to 2 minutes and 15 seconds to complete the following steps: 1. Immerse the endoscope’s distal end in detergent solution. Press play and depress the suction valve to the first stage and aspirate detergent with SCOPE BUDDY™ PLUS Flushing Aid for ~ 30 seconds. 2. Use the next few seconds (~ 15) to remove the scope’s distal end from the detergent solution. Depress the suction valve to the first stage and aspirate air for ~ 30 seconds. 3. Next, immerse the endoscope’s distal end in the detergent solution. Depress the suction valve completely and aspirate detergent solution for ~ 30 seconds. 4. Remove the endoscope’s distal end from the detergent solution. Depress the suction valve completely and aspirate air for ~ 30 seconds.
