The following information is intended to be a quick summary of operating instructions for your Medrad® Spectris Solaris® EP Injection System and does not constitute a substitute for the full and complete instructions within the Medrad® Spectris Solaris® EP Operations Manual, Medrad Document Number 202974 or Mobile Manual: 205580. Refer to the Operations Manual for compete instructions and user warnings.
Powering Up and Down Power UP: 1. To turn on, lift the clear plastic cover on the back of the Display Control Unit and press the green button A 2. Safety screen appears, review information and press continue to proceed to main protocol screen 3. To ensure communication between injector head and display control unit, verify communication icon located on main screen B A
Power DOWN: 1. To turn unit off, lift the clear plastic cover and press green button again

Loading Syringes 1. Position injector head in upright position 2. Ensure pistons are fully retracted a. To retract pistons, press the Enable button, A Press the Reverse Load C switches on the injector head. The pistons will stop when fully retracted 3. Remove new syringe from package and insert it into the injector ensuring that keyed wings at syringe base are aligned a. The syringe is keyed to properly fit the injector only in one way b. Twist the syringe 1/4 turn clockwise until syringe locks into place 4. Advance the plungers completely forward by pressing the Enable button, A then pressing both Forward Load Switches. B The pistons will stop when fully advanced 5. Remove protective covers from syringes and filling devices 6. Prepare the bottle and/or bag of contrast media and/or flushing solution Push the bottle or bag onto the filling device until the seal is punctured Aspirate the contents by pressing the enable button A then press the Reverse Load switch C a. Use Side A for contrast media syringe b. Use Side B for saline syringe 3

Loading Syringes (continued) 7. Remove the filling device 8. Securely attach the “T” portion of the connector tubing to syringes a. The shorter part of the “T” connection with back check valve attaches to the “A” syringe (contrast) b. The longer part of the “T” connects to the “B” syringe (flush) 9. Expel air from fluid path. Prime “T” connector and tubing by advancing plungers with the forward or reverse switches or the manual piston control knobs. D Advance contrast up to the bottom of the check valve, then prime the rest of the tubing with saline 10. Ensure that all air has been expelled from the syringes and fluid path 11. Depress the “Air Confirmation” button to confirm air has been expelled E

Programming Add or Change a Phase: 1. Press the delta key to the left of the flow rate A 2. Select the appropriate phase type 3. Enter in the appropiate values Flow Rate: 1. KVO and Arming Injector Independent KVO (Keep Vein Open) 1. Ensure that no air is in the syringe or fluid path 2. Press the Air Confirmation button on injector head or acknowledge on the DCU that air has been removed 3. Touch the Start button to begin KVO KVO delivers a pulse of saline to ensure line patency To ARM if Independent KVO Has Been Used 1. If KVO has been started, touch the ARM button on display screen 2. Press hand switch to begin the injection To ARM Injector Without Using KVO 1. Ensure that no air is in the syringe or fluid path 2. Press the Air Confirmation button on injector head or confirm on the DCU that air has been removed 3. Touch ARM on Display Screen 4. Press the hand switch to begin the injection 7

NOTE: KVO can be started at any time after arming the injector. To start KVO, touch Start button before the injection is started.
Storing and Recalling Protocols: Storing of Protocol: 1. Display desired protocol on screen by setting Flow Rates, Volumes, and delay rates, if applicable 2. Touch Store button 3. Type in desired protocol name using the keyboard 4. Touch enter. Protocol has now been stored

Storing and Recalling Protocols: (continued) Recalling Protocols: 1. Press recall Select protocol by pressing the name of desired protocol Protocol will be displayed in center screen 2. Press OK to recall Protocol will be displayed on main screen 3. The pressure limit is changed to the stored protocol pressure limit value A Injection History: 1. From the Main protocol screen select HISTORY button 2. The screen will display the 20 most recent injections 3. The Pressure Limit will now appear in the injection history and will display the Programmed, Peak and Limited psi

Resetting the iCBC: 1. Switch the DCU off and unplug it 2. Remove the battery from the Scan Room Unit 3. Unplug the iCBC from the wall outlet or remove the power plug at the iCBC box 4. Insert the battery into the Scan Room Unit 5. Plug in iCBC 6. Plug in DCU and switch it on. Ensure iCBC icon on DCU has yellow background and the battery indicator shows a fully charged battery
