Power supply Caution Most exposed metal parts of the equipment are electrically grounded. When performing a cauterization or similar treatment, the patient must be insulated from the metal portions of the equipment by nonconductive material. Failure to do so could result in electric shock or burns to patient.

Installation Instructions Material delivered in cardboard packaging �

Small, lightweight, easy to handle materiel

In this case, the products can be easily handled without any lifting gear, taking care to position the product according to the directional arrows on the packaging. In the absence of arrows indicating the top and bottom, use the position of the various product identity labels which are always placed at the top.

Heavy or cumbersome material requiring the use of lifting gear

In this case, it is possible to use a fork lift truck, provided it is used correctly. Before moving, ensure the material is properly positioned, and that the load is evenly balanced.

Fixed articles, furniture, wall furniture When the cardboard carton has been taken away, remove remaining protective packaging and install the product.

For certain models, adjustable levellers enable you to improve this stability, and to make sure the article is level.

For wall furniture, make sure the following two devices are properly installed : a suitable wall fixture, a levelling device.

If the product has separate accessories, follow the accompanying mounting instructions to attach them (shelves, glass doors, shelf supports).

For other products, before installing, check that the product is stable.

Dismounted material These products are delivered unassembled. The various elements are protected by the following types of packaging : – plastic (vinyl) packaging, – bubble film packaging / foam or polystyrene, – cardboard packaging.

Products delivered on wooden palettes

Products placed on a wooden palette may easily be moved using a forklift truck, provided this is used correctly. Before moving, ensure the truck is correctly positioned in relation to the palette, and that the whole is stable. You must pay particular attention when handling very tall or high articles (eg. cupboards).

The following conditions must be observed when storing any material :

– The products must not be subject to bumps or jolts.

– The area must be clean, well ventilated and be of a normal temperature.

– Do not store in an area where people are likely to pass.

– Store products away from the elements, and away from direct sunlight.

– Articles must not be stacked on top of each other.

– The area must not be damp.

– Articles must remain in their original packaging until final delivery.

Unpacking When installing, remove all staple clips and carefully remove the cardboard packaging. Fragile parts of the product (upholstery coverings, plastic casings, etc.) may be just below the packaging. Care must be taken with cutting instruments. Once the packaging has been removed, remove any remaining protective covering.

In the case of packaging on a wooden palette, remove the packaging as above. Depending on the model, the product is fixed either by screwed flanges, or by nailed wooden stakes. Use a spanner (for metal flanges). Use a claw hammer (for wooden stakes). Lift the article off the palette, and take away the remaining protective covering. The product is now ready for use.

Instructions for Use Warning You must read the installation instructions, technical instructions, and instructions for use before handling this equipment. The instrument must be used only for the specific purpose for which it is designed, and which is described in our literature. The assembly and connection to the mains must be carried out by qualified per-

sonnel. Under no circumstances must electrical parts (motor, unit housing the electrical control systems, control unit, adaptor etc.) be opened. PROMOTAL cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from the instructions not being followed.

General maintenance Except for appropriate regular cleaning, our products do not require any particular maintenance. The mechanical parts used as blocking mechanisms (smooth arch, notched arch, ratchet mechanisms, etc.) do not require any specific attention. The gas springs on tables do not require any maintenance. Their shaft must be kept clean, must not be subject to jolts or hard knocks, and must not be cleaned with any corrosive products. The electric and hydraulic jacks do not require any particular attention.

The variable height tables, chairs and trolleys are equipped either : – With arms fitted with self lubricating articulation rings. – With telescopic bearing runners. In this case they should be lubricated once a year (particularly if the runners are noisy) with ordinary grease. (See the exploded drawings for access to the runners).

Maintenance Instructions Painted surfaces (epoxy polyester finish) The use of ordinary cleaning products, eg. window cleaning products, is perfectly suitable for cleaning surfaces finished in epoxy polyester. It is strictly forbidden to use the following : – Solvants :

– Bases :

Imitation leather coverings Use a damp cloth and soapy water (eg. household soap). For stubborn stains, dab, but do not rub, using a cloth soaked in white spirits or in a solution of water and alcohol (less than 30 % strength). Stainless steel products Cleaning and Maintenance : For maintenance of stainless steel products, periodic cleaning of the surface is sufficient. This operation is necessary to keep the products clean, but is facilitated by the quality of stainless steel surfaces. A large range of products and cleaning methods may be used. The choice of the most suitable products to be used will depend on the nature of the marks or on the product content, and on the conditions of use of the stainless steel elements. Cleaning agents : a) Detergent - washing liquids : All types of detergents, washing liquids and commercial soaps may be used, provided they do not contain any chlorine products. b)

Abrasive powders : These products may scratch the stainless steel surface, thereby changing the way it looks, at least in places. They should therefore not be used. Solvants : The use of solvants may be

useful in getting rid of grease marks. The usual solvants (benzene, methylene chloride, white spirits etc.) as well as domestic or specially prepared industrial products may be used. Naturally their use requires certain precautions to be taken because of their inflammable and toxic properties. Precautions must also be taken to avoid damaging adjacent materials which may be sensitive to their chemical action (paints, mastics, joints etc.). d)

Acid products : Vinegar (acetic acid) may be used to get rid of stains made by calcium deposits. Its contact with the surfaces must be of a very limited duration, and the surface must then be thoroughly and carefully rinsed with clean water. The use of chlorine based products is forbidden.

Bases : They are strictly forbidden.

Others : The use of steel wool or metal sponges is strictly forbidden.

Chrome finished products These products have been covered with a chrome coating to protect them from oxydization. Cleaning and Maintenance : It is vitally important, in order not to damage this protective coating, that abrasive and / or corrosive products should not be used. The use of commercial cleaning products, such as window cleaning products, are perfectly suitable for chrome coated surfaces. If necessary, an appropriate disinfectant may be used on chrome (make sure the instructions are followed).

PVC and ABS products Cleaning and Maintenance : The use of commercial cleaning products, such as window cleaning products, are perfectly suitable for PVC and ABS surfaces. To brighten up an old or dull surface, plastic restorer products may be used. Please note that the use of any solvants or any abrasive products is strictly forbidden. Laminated elements Cleaning and Maintenance : As for PVC. Use window cleaning products.

Normal use

This chair is designed for use in blood sampling and meets the following important requirements :  Easy positioning of the patient Only nursing staff, hospital service staff and technical service staff should handle or use the chair. Patients or people accompanying them must not operate the chair. They must not touch the chairs control switches or levers. This equipment must not be used in presence of an ignitable anaesthetic air mix, or with oxygen or nitrous oxide. Maximum patient weight of 135 kg (tested at a static weight of 540 kg and tested at a dynamic weight of 170 kg)

Electrical connections This equipment must be connected to the main electricity supply.  Connection to the supply : 120 V or 230V (depending on country)  Frequency : 50/60Hz  Protection Classification / Degree of electric shock protection : Class 2 / B  Power absorbed : 200W  Intermittent function mode : 1min / 9min If the chair is not to be used for a prolonged period of time, it should be switched off and disconnected from the mains. Using the Chair Safety :

For safety reasons , and in order to avoid malfunctioning, no objects should be placed under the seat cushion or between the moving parts of the chair.

Using the hand control To achieve the desired position, simply apply and maintain pressure on the hand control. As soon as this pressure is released, the movement will stop. The chair trolley is fitted with an internal device to limit the high and low positions. A

Adjusting the backrest tilt and the leg cushion (for reference 70140 and 70142)

With one hand, move the lever (L1) either up or down, with the other hand lower or raise the backrest (D) to the desired position. The leg cushion (RJ) is combined with the backrest.

Caution The patient must not lean fully on the backrest during this procedure. The legrests should only be used to support the patients legs. Under no circumstances should they support the total weight of the patient. It is therefore necessary to retreat the legrest when patients get on or off the chair.

Adjusting the leg cushion

This material is equiped with a mechanism that ensure the leg cushion is permanently blocked.To adjust the leg cushion upwards, lift the lower part of the cushion to the desired position. To adjust the leg cushion downwards, with one hand hold the leg cushion and with the other, press down on the control handle of the blocking system. The mechanism is now unlocked and the leg cushion can be lowered. Release the control to block the leg cushion.

Caution The patient must not lean on the leg cushion during adjustments (risk of disfunctionning or sudden unblocking).

Adjusting the arm rest The standard arm rests can be adjusted in height (H) and can be positioned in all directions due to the ball and socket joint underneath the armrest. To adjust the armrests, loosen the screws and position as desired. Caution

Paper roll Using the paper roll Insert one side of the paper roll (PR) on the support bearing (1), pull slightly the other arm open by hand, and place the paper roll into position (2). Cover the upholstery with paper before use.
