Dangers, Warnings and Cautions Follow the dangers, warnings and cautions given below when handling this instrument. This information is to be supplemented by the dangers, warnings and cautions given in each chapter.
•
Any applied part except “TYPE CF APPLIED PART” must never be applied directly to the heart and must not be used in procedures involving cardiac observation or surgery. Leakage current from any applied parts except “TYPE CF APPLIED PART” may be dangerous and cause ventricular fibrillation or otherwise seriously affect the cardiac function of the patient. Accordingly, always adhere to the following: Never apply the endoscope connected to any applied part except “TYPE CF APPLIED PART” to the heart or any area near the heart. Never allow an accessory or another endoscope, which is in contact with the heart (or an area near the heart) to contact the endoscope connected to any applied part except “TYPE CF APPLIED PART”. For cardiac applications, use only the instrument bearing the “TYPE CF APPLIED PART”. Only CF symbol mark “ ” bear on the applied part. Refer to the instruction manual of the camera head or light guide cable for system configuration requirements.
•
Strictly observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may place the patient and medical personnel in danger of electrical shock. When using this equipment, make sure that the metal parts of the endoscope, accessories do not come in contact with metal in the facility or with other system components. Metal-to-metal contact can create an electrical connection and cause current to flow unintentionally to the patient (leakage current, for example). Keep liquids away from all electrical equipment. If spilled fluids enter the unit, stop operation of the equipment at once and contact Olympus.

Important Information - Please Read Before Use
Do not prepare, inspect or use this instrument with wet hands. •
The CLH-SC Light Source is not explosion-proof. Never use the Light Source in an environment containing flammable gases and liquids, or high concentrations of oxygen, and keep it away from flammable gases/liquids or sources of oxygen during use. Otherwise, explosion or fire may occur.
•
Do not touch the endoscope’s Light Guide Connector immediately after disconnecting the endoscope from this instrument. This component is extremely hot and can cause burns.
•
Do not look directly into the Distal End of the endoscope or the Output Connector of this instrument while the Light Source is illuminated. The intense light may cause eye injury.
•
It is highly desirable that a back up Light Source be available to continue clinical procedure in case of malfunction.
•
Halogen Light Sources produce significant heat due to the high intensity light required for endoscopic procedures. If the disconnected end of the Light Guide Cable and/or the Distal End of an endoscope touches operating room drapes or other flammable materials, fire may result. Never place the unattached end of an illuminated Light Guide Cable on an operating room drape or other flammable material. Never allow the Distal End of an illuminated endoscope to come in contact with operating room drapes or other flammable material. Turn the Light Source OFF whenever it is not being used.
