General information
1 General information Intended use A4210A, A4211A, A4212A, A4213A, A4214A, A4215A, A4215A, WA97050A, WA97051A Video adapter for connecting telescopes to video imaging systems. •• Do not use it for any other purpose. Medical use This product is to be used only in a medical facility by trained medical personnel. NOTE Instruction manual set The complete instruction manual set for this product consists of this product-specific instruction manual (delivered together with this product) and the system-related instruction manual, entitled “System Guide Endoscopy” (supplied with Olympus telescopes). Immediately contact an Olympus representative if either manual is missing or lost. Keep the instruction manual set in a safe, accessible location. WARNING Read all instruction manuals thoroughly Before use, read this manual, the System Guide Endoscopy, and the manuals for all other equipment which will be used during the procedure. An insufficient understanding of the dangers, warnings, cautions, and information in these manuals can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage. General information
1.1 Upon delivery Inspect immediately •• Make sure that the shipping case contains all items. •• Contact your Olympus representative or an authorized service center if any items are missing or damaged. Unpacking •• Remove the product from the packaging. Do not use the packaging for routine storage.

4 Before use WARNING Infection control risk Properly reprocess the product before first and each subsequent use following the instructions in this manual and in the System Guide Endoscopy. Improper and/or incomplete reprocessing can cause infection of the patient and/or medical personnel.
4.1 Inspection and testing Inspecting the product Visually inspect the product. Make sure that it has: -- no corrosion -- no dents -- no scratches Damaged product If the product is damaged or does not function properly, contact an Olympus representative or an authorized service center.

5 Use Before use Make sure that the product has been properly reprocessed, inspected, and tested.
5.1 Preparation CAUTION Risk of damaging the instrument Do not rotate the camera head while connecting or disconnecting the video adapter. Otherwise, camera head and cable may be damaged. Clamping video adapter (A4210A, A4211A, WA97050A, WA97051A)
•• Screw the video adapter’s connecting mount onto the camera head until it stops. •• Press down the video adapter’s locking ring.

Use •• WA97050A, WA97051A: Insert the telescope’s eyepiece cup into the video adapter. During insertion make sure to place the eyepiece cup behind the pin first. •• A4210A, A4211A: clamp the video adapter onto the telescope’s eyepiece cup. •• Release the locking ring. Screw-type video adapter (A4212A, A4213A)
•• Screw the video adapter’s connecting mount onto the camera head until it stops. •• Unscrew the telescope’s eyepiece cup. •• Screw the video adapter onto the telescope’s ocular thread by turning the video adapter’s locking ring. Quick-lock video adapter (A4214A, A4215A)
•• Screw the video adapter’s connecting mount onto the camera head until it stops. •• Unscrew the telescope’s eyepiece cup. •• Retract the video adapter’s handle. •• Introduce the telescope’s ocular thread into the video adapter’s quick-lock connection until it stops. •• Release the video adapter’s handle. The video adapter is securely fixed. 13

5.2 Procedure Procedure •• Refer to the camera’s and camera head’s instruction manual. •• Perform the procedure. Focussing
•• Turn the focus ring to adjust the focus. Rotating the telescope (only for A4210A, A4211A, WA97050A, WA97051A)
•• Loosen the telescope fastening screw so that the telescope can be rotated.

5.3 After use CAUTION Risk of damaging the instrument Do not rotate the camera head while connecting or disconnecting the video adapter. Otherwise, camera head and cable may be damaged. Reprocessing •• Immediately bring the product to the reprocessing area. •• Reprocess the product following the instructions in this manual and in the System Guide Endoscopy.

Information in this section The following reprocessing information supplements that in the System Guide Endoscopy. However, if the information given in this section differs from that in the System Guide Endoscopy, use the information given here. Reprocessing CAUTION Risk of damaging the product Do not use incompatible reprocessing methods. Product damage may occur.
6.1 Cleaning and disinfection Immersion in cleaning and disinfectant solutions •• Only immerse the video adapter into cleaning or disinfectant solutions while mounted onto the camera head. •• Refer to the camera head’s instruction manual.
6.2 Maintenance Lubrication
•• Retract the surface inside the video adapter’s connecting mount by rotating the focus ring. •• Lubricate the outer rim of the retracted surface using Olympus A0273 lubricant. •• Rotate the focus ring back and forth several times so that the lubricant spreads over the wall. Make sure not to smudge the window with lubricant. •• Repeat this process for the video adapter’s other end (connection to telescope). 17
