Warnings and cautions Follow the warnings and cautions given below when handling this instrument. This information is to be supplemented by the warnings and cautions given in each chapter.
While the illumination lamp is lit, do not look directly into the objective. Otherwise, eye injury may result.
S Handle the equipment with care and be especially careful not to apply impact to the microscope body. Otherwise, lens components may be damaged, making observations impossible. S Each function has a stopper to indicate the limit of the movement range of the system. Do not force the equipment to move beyond these limits; otherwise, the equipment may be damaged. S Do not hit or strike the objective. Otherwise, the objective may be damaged. S Avoid applying excessive force to the light guide, as this may damage it.

Chapter 3 Installation and Connection
Chapter 3 Installation and Connection Before each case, Prepare and inspect this instrument as instructed below. Inspect other equipment used with this instrument as instructed in their respective instruction manuals. Should the slightest irregularity be suspected, do not use this instrument and see Chapter 6, “Troubleshooting”. If the irregularity is still suspected after consulting Chapter 6, contact Olympus. Damage or irregularity may compromise patient or user safety and may result in more severe equipment damage. Prepare this instrument and other compatible equipment (shown in the “System chart” in the Appendix) before each use. Refer to the respective instruction manual for each piece of equipment. Also prepare paper towels, basin, lint-free cloth and personal protective equipment, such as eye wear, a face mask, moisture-resistant clothing and chemical-resistant gloves, for the particular case. Refer to the respective instruction manual for each piece of equipment.
3.1
Inspecting the small tray joint If the small tray is not securely connected to the stand , the small tray and other mounted devices may fall off. If you find that any of the connections cannot be fully secured, stop operation immediately and contact Olympus. Confirm that the small tray is securely connected to the stand without any play (see Figure 3.1).

Inspecting the joints of the horizontal arm, balance arm and zoom microscope body If the horizontal arm, balance arm and microscope body are not securely connected, they could fall off. If you find that any of the connections are not completely secure, stop operation immediately and contact Olympus. Confirm that the horizontal arm, the balance arm and the microscope body are securely connected to the stand (see Figure 3.2).

3.3
Inspecting the arm movement and balance Confirm that the microscope body moves freely and remains stationary at the target point when not in motion.
When you move the microscope body, be careful not to get your hand or fingers caught between the moving portions of the arm.
1. Confirm that no excessive force is applied to the device cables and the light guide when the microscope body is moved.
2. Hold the grip and confirm that the microscope body moves freely in the required ranges. Also confirm that the microscope body remains stationary when the grip is released. If the microscope body moves vertically under its own weight, adjust the balance as described in Section 4.2 “Arm balance adjustment.” If the microscope body moves horizontally and/or tilts under its own weight, adjust the rotation tension as described in Section 4.3 “Adjusting the rotation tension of rotating parts.” If the movement tension and/or the tilt tension of the microscope body is too high, adjust the rotation tension as described in Section 4.3.
3.4
Inspecting the optics 1. Look through the eyepieces. Confirm that the light source illuminates the entire field.
2. Ensure that all objects in the field are clearly visible. S If the left and right images are focused differently, adjust the diopter of the eyepieces as described in Section 4.6, “Diopter adjustment”. S If the images are out of focus when the magnification is changed, adjust the diopter of the eyepieces as described in Section 4.6, “Diopter adjustment”.

Chapter 4 Operation
Chapter 4 Operation The operator of this instrument must be a physician or medical personnel under the supervision of a physician and must have received sufficient training in clinical colposcopic technique. This manual, therefore, does not explain or clinical discuss colposcopic procedures. It only describes basic operation and precautions related to the operation of this instrument.
S Wear personal protective equipment to guard against dangerous chemicals and potentially infectious material. During operation, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as eye wear, face mask, moisture-resistant clothing and chemical-resistant gloves that fit properly and are long enough so that your skin is not exposed. S Anytime you suspect an abnormality in an instrument function, stop the examination immediately. Using a colposcope that is not functioning properly may cause patient injury.
S Operate the equipment on a level floor to prevent the floor stand from moving spontaneously. S Do not hit or strike the objective lens to avoid damaging it.
4.1
Moving and securing the colposcope 1. Push up the caster stoppers on the floorstand base to release them (see Figure 4.1).

Figure 4.2
S Take care that the floorstand base does not roll over your foot, as it could cause injury. S Do not grasp the microscope body or use excessive force when moving the colposcope. Doing so can damage the lens, preventing normal observation through the microscope.
3. Hold the projecting part the stand and push it forward to move the floorstand base (see Figure 4.3).

Chapter 4 Operation
4. As much as possible, move the floorstand on flat surfaces: Do not attempt to move it on rough and/or bumpy surfaces. If the floor stand must be moved over a small bump, lift it slightly to help it clear the bump (see Figure 4.4).
Figure 4.4
5. Push down the two caster stoppers on the floorstand base to fix its position (see Figure 4.5).

Arm balance adjustment When you move the microscope body, be careful not to get your hand or fingers caught between the moving portions of the arm.
1. Move the microscope body and arm to the positions where they will be used during the procedure.
2. Loosen the vertical movement tension adjustment handle so that the microscope body can move up and down freely (see Figure 4.6). Grip
