Chapter 3 Installation and Connection
Chapter 3 Installation and Connection Prepare this instrument and other compatible equipment to be used with this instrument (shown in the “System chart” in the Appendix) before each use. Refer to the instruction manuals for each item, and install and connect the equipment as follows:
3.1
Connecting the peripheral equipment When electric equipment is mounted on a system rack, follow the precautions given below. Otherwise, the patient or the operator can be subjected to an electric shock. For information on attaching equipment, refer to their instruction manuals. Do not splash or spill water or other liquid onto the equipment. Do not prepare, inspect, or operate the equipment with wet hands.
6
•
When using peripheral equipment that is not classified as medical electrical equipment, connect the power supply to an isolation transformer before connecting it to this product. Otherwise an electric shock may result.
•
The power consumption of the peripheral equipment should not exceed the isolation transformer’s capacity. If the power consumption exceeds the capacity of one isolation transformer, use a second isolation transformer.
•
When the peripheral equipment has a grounding cord, make sure to connect it to an existing grounding terminal.
•
Do not connect a grounding cord to a gas pipe. Otherwise an explosion may result.

Chapter 3 Installation and Connection
•
Make sure the attached equipment will not fall off. Falling equipment can lead to patient or user injury and/or equipment damage.
•
Keep liquids away from the equipment. Liquids spilled on or into the equipment could cause electric shock or fire.
•
Do not obstruct the ventilation grills on the attached peripheral devices (where applicable). The heat generated can lead to fire, burns and/or equipment damage.
•
Keep all cables clear of the peripheral devices attached to the equipment and the moving parts of the colposcope (hinges, etc.). If cables become caught, they can cause electric shock and/or equipment damage.
1. Remove the clamping screws and remove the rear lid from the system rack (see Figure 3.1).

Chapter 4 Preparation and Inspection
Chapter 4 Preparation and Inspection Before each case, prepare and inspect this instrument as instructed below. Inspect other equipment to be used with this instrument as instructed in their respective instruction manuals. Should the slightest irregularity be suspected, do not use the instrument; contact Olympus. Damage or irregularity may compromise patient or user safety and may result in more severe equipment damage. Prepare this instrument and other compatible equipment to be used with this instrument (shown in the “System chart” in the Appendix) for the particular case. Refer to the respective instruction manuals for each item.
4.1
Inspecting the connections If the partition is not level and properly seated, the partition and any mounted equipment can fall off the rack, leading to patient or user injury and/or equipment damage. Make sure the partition is level and properly seated.

Chapter 5 Care and Storage
Chapter 5 Care and Storage 5.1
Care •
After cleaning the system rack, dry it thoroughly before use. If it is used while wet, there is a risk of electric shock and/or equipment damage.
•
Patient debris and reprocessing chemicals are hazardous. Wear personal protective equipment to guard against dangerous chemicals and potentially infectious material. During cleaning, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as: eye wear, face mask, moisture-resistant clothing and chemical-resistant gloves that fit properly and are long enough so that your skin is not exposed. Always remove contaminated protective clothing before leaving the reprocessing area.
Do not wipe the surface of the system rack with an abrasive material. Otherwise the surface finish may be damaged. If the system rack becomes soiled, perform the following cleaning procedures immediately after use. If cleaning is delayed, organic debris will solidify and it may be difficult to effectively clean the system rack. The system rack should also be cleaned routinely
1. Wipe the equipment using a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with 70% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol to remove dust, dirt, etc.
2. Should the equipment become soiled with blood or other potentially infectious patient material, first wipe off all gross debris using a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with detergent solution. Then wipe the equipment with a clean, lint-free cloth moistened with 70% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol.
3. Make sure that no liquid remains on the equipment. After wiping the system rack with alcohol, be sure to dry it thoroughly.

Chapter 6 Troubleshooting
Chapter 6 Troubleshooting If the equipment is visibly damaged, does not function as expected or is found to have irregularities during the inspection described in Chapter 4, “Preparation and Inspection”, do not use the equipment. Contact Olympus.
Returning the system rack for repair Olympus is not liable for any injury or damage which occurs as a result of repairs attempted by non-Olympus personnel. Before returning the system rack for repair, contact Olympus. With the system rack, include a description of the malfunction or damage and the name and telephone number of the individual at your location who is most familiar with the problem. Also include a repair purchase order.
