HANDPIECE CLEANING QUICK-REFERENCE GUIDE This is designed as a quick-reference guide only. This guide is not a substitute for reading and learning the entire operator’s manual and/or instructions for use (IFU) provided the DIEGO ELITE System. Olympus cannot encourage or recommend any actions that deviate from or are not covered by the IFU.
PRE-CLEANING Wipe the external surfaces of the handpiece, cord, and plug with enzymatic detergent, sterile water, or tap water immediately after use.
MANUAL CLEANING 1
Fully immerse the handpiece, cord, and plug in the cleaning solution. Allow them to soak for ten minutes. Note the manufacturer’s instructions regarding the temperature and dilution factor for the detergent.

While immersed, gently scrub the areas shown below with the appropriate brushes (handpiece cleaning kit item EG70338009)

Using a nylon-bristle brush, scrub the shelf that contains the Olympus logo and part number.

Actuate the blade retention mechanism.

Flush the interior of the handpiece with cool distilled, deionized, or potable water. Actuate the retention mechanism while flushing. Ensure water flows through all drainage ports.

Use 70% isopropyl alcohol to wipe and flush the handpiece, power cord, and plug. Flush the exterior to remove any remaining residue.

Dry completely with a lint-free cloth. Visibly inspect the entire handpiece for any remaining contamination and repeat the cleaning procedure if needed.
