1.1 User instructions
These instructions for use contain essential information on using these products safely and effectively. The complete set of instructions for use for these products consists of the following documents: • EDC Plus instructions for use • EDC Plus accessory manual • EDC Plus adapter manual In addition, for cleaning and disinfection of the products refer to EDC Plus instruction for use. • Before use, thoroughly read these instructions for use and the instructions for use of all other products that will be used during the procedure. • If the required instructions for use are missing, immediately contact your local Olympus representative. • Keep the instructions for use in a safe, accessible location.
1.2 Signal words
The following signal words are used throughout these instructions for use: WARNING Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. NOTICE Indicates a property damage message.
1.3 Conventions throughout this document This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert the user to potential physical injury hazards. Observe all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid possible injury. This symbol indicates additional helpful information. 1) A numeration indicates a sequence of actions. • Bullet points indicate the listing of data, options or objects.

2 Introduction 2.1 Safety information
Before using the adapters, read the EDC Plus instructions for use carefully to prevent injury to the user and damage to the equipment. Always clean and disinfect all accessories before use (refer to EDC Plus instructions for use). Carry out all activities with disinfected hands and using gloves. NOTICE Only trained staff is allowed to operate the EDC Plus. NOTICE Extreme care must be taken when using aggressive cleaning agents (refer to EDC Plus instructions for use). Olympus will provide user training after installation of the EDC Plus. If you would appreciate any further support for regular training, please contact your local Olympus representative. If you have any questions concerning the topics covered in this adapter manual or the operation or safety of the equipment, please contact your Olympus representative or the nearest Olympus office.
2.2 Intended use
Use EDC Plus adapters for endoscope channel drying of flexile medical endoscopes mentioned in this adapter manual only. Connect the adapter set like it is explained in this manual to ensure an adequate drying and storage of the endoscope.
2.3 Product liability
The manufacturer only assumes liability for the safety, reliability and performance of this equipment if:

Installation, extension, readjustments, alterations or repairs are undertaken by technicians authorized by Olympus.

The equipment is used according to the instructions given in this manual and the EDC Plus instructions for use.

Connect adapters and maintenance
3.1 Connecting of adapter hoses with EDC EDC Plus adapter hoses can be connected with EDC by using an intermediate piece in between.

1) Connector of EDC: Plug the intermediate piece in the connector of EDC. 2) Intermediate piece EDC/EDC Plus adapter. 3) EDC Plus adapter hoses: Plug the EDC Plus adapter nipple in the hose of the intermediate piece. To disconnect the hoses from the EDC push the ring back to the wall, the connection loosens and the EDC Plus adapter hose can be taken out. NOTICE Do not remove the EDC Plus adapter or the intermediate piece with force. It can damage the adapter.

3.2 Connecting of adapter hoses with EDC Plus
Push the nipple in the connector to connect the adapter hose to the EDC Plus. To disconnect the hoses on the endoscope hanger of the EDC Plus push the ring back to hanger, the connection nipple loosens and the adapter hose can be taken out.

NOTICE Do not remove the adapter hose with force from the nipple. It can damage the adapter.

3.3 Maintenance of adapters
Pay attention to all adapter sets if they still work properly e.g. discoloring or missing O-rings of the channel separator etc. Replace damaged parts immediately. Therefore, contact your Olympus representative and refer the EDC Plus instructions for use for more details. WARNING Risk of injury to the patient The adapter sets must be cleaned and disinfected by wiping the outer surface prior to use or after every use. Once a week clean and disinfect the outer and inner surface of the adapter sets (refer to EDC Plus instructions for use). The adapters are influenced by the dry air which blows through the hoses and the connectors. Replace the adapters after every third year. On the nipple in the beginning of the adapter hose a colored hose is mounted which will be replaced by the manufacturer every year.
