1.1 User instructions

These instructions for use contain essential information on using these products safely and effectively. The complete set of instructions for use for these products consists of the following documents: • EDC Plus instructions for use • EDC Plus adapter manual • EDC instructions for use • EDC adapter manual In addition, for cleaning and disinfection of the products refer to EDC Plus instruction for use. • Before use, thoroughly read these instructions for use and the instructions for use of all other products that will be used during the procedure. • If the required instructions for use are missing, immediately contact your local Olympus representative. • Keep the instructions for use in a safe, accessible location.

1.2 Signal words

The following signal words are used throughout these instructions for use: WARNING Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. NOTICE Indicates a property damage message.

2 Introduction 2.1 Safety information

Before using the accessories, read the EDC / EDC Plus instructions for use carefully to prevent injury to the user and damage to the equipment. Always clean and disinfect all accessories before use (refer to EDC Plus instructions for use). Carry out all activities with disinfected hands and using clean gloves. NOTICE Only trained staff is allowed to operate the EDC / EDC Plus. NOTICE Take care when using aggressive cleaning agents (refer to EDC Plus instructions for use). Olympus will provide user training after installation. If you would appreciate any further support for regular training, please contact your local Olympus representative. If you have any questions concerning the topics covered in this accessory manual or the operation or safety of the equipment, please contact your Olympus representative.

2.2 Intended use

The EDC / EDC Plus accessories support the storage of medical flexible endoscopes in the EDC and EDC Plus. They prevent damage of the endoscopes and allow the storage of the endoscope accessories close to the endoscope.

2.3 Product liability

The manufacturer only assumes liability for the safety, reliability and performance of this equipment if: •

Installation or repair must be performed by a local Olympus representative or an authorized person.

The equipment is used according to the instructions given in this manual and the EDC and EDC Plus instructions for use.

3 Holders for a second endoscope connector The holder avoids the contact of the endoscope connectors with the cabinet bottom of the EDC or EDC Plus during drying and storage. The holder is required for endoscopes with a long universal cord or two endoscope connectors. Place only connectors of endoscopes in the holder which lack channels in the universal cord. WARNING Risk of injury to the patient Do not place connectors of endoscopes with channels in the universal cord at the holders. Always store these endoscopes connectors hanging and refer to instructions of the endoscope manufacturer. A holder for endoscope connectors consist of two parts: • Holder "Multi-Use", for light guide connector • Holder insert Different holder inserts are available for different kinds of endoscope connectors. NOTICE Once the insert is placed in the “Multi-Use” Holder it is not possible to loosen the insert anymore. The holder has to be mounted with 3 screws at the back of the drying cabinet chamber. To place the holder Slide the “Multi Use” holder with the lever in the highest position over the two top screws as far as possible. Push the lever down to fasten the holder to the back of the drying cabinet. Remove the holder Move the lever of the “Multi Use” holder towards you and slide the holder upwards to remove the holder from the back of the drying cabinet. WARNING Risk of injury to the patient Once a week, remove the holder from the back of the cabinet for cleaning and disinfection purposes. The holder "Multi-Use" must be mounted on the back of the EDC or the EDC Plus and fit to all kind of holder inserts mentioned in this chapter.

4 Endoscope control unit holder for mounting on aluminum rod The holders are used to place the control units of non-G&R endoscope in the EDC Plus for drying and storage. Mount the holders mentioned in this chapter on the aluminum rod of the EDC Plus and replace the universal endoscope control unit holder which is part of the EDC Plus delivery content.

The holders “Multi-Use” for endoscope control units fit with the holder insert mentioned in the next section. Both parts build a holder for endoscopes without light guide. NOTICE Once the insert is placed in the “Multi-Use” holder it is not possible to loosen the insert anymore.

5 Instrument baskets for endoscope accessories The instrument baskets are used to store endoscope accessories like valves together with the endoscope in the EDC or EDC Plus. The installation of the baskets has to be done by an Olympus service technician. WARNING Risk of injury to the patient Once a week, clean and disinfect the instrument baskets. For more information refer to the EDC Plus instructions for use.
