1. Overview Caution The values indicated on the screen of the simulator are only examples. They represent fictional values. For further information about settings and the use of the ventilator, please refer to the clinical and the patient manuals.
This application simulates the VS III (with an O2 cell connected) allowing you to: • start/stop the ventilation • set the date/time • simulate a new patient’s settings • simulate a new configuration • set parameters and view measurements • set one or two programs. You can simulate situations such as: • setting the language of the software • triggering alarms • changing a circuit configuration • viewing the battery status.

2. Installation
To install this application: 1.
Set your screen resolution to 1280x1024 pixels.

Extract all the zipped files on to your computer C drive or wherever suits you.
3.
Double-click “VS III.exe” to run the application.
3. Navigation To navigate your way around the menus, click on the relevant keys on the simulator keypad. These keys replicate the keys you would press on the actual ventilator.

When you run the simulator, you automatically access the patient menu.

Function
On/Off key Press this key to switch the simulator on or off. Press this key to stop the ventilation. enu key M Press this key to navigate through the menu and to go back to the previous page. Access to the clinical menu: press this key for three seconds to access the clinical menu. Return to the patient menu: press this key for one second to return to the patient menu. Go to the clinical menu from the technical menu: press this key for one second to return to the clinical menu. E nter key Press this key to: - start the ventilation - enter and validate a highlighted text. - adjust and validate the values in edit mode. Access the technical menu: press this key for one second to enter the technical menu (note: Press and hold Enter and Alarm Silence keys simultaneously on the real device). larm Silence key A When simulating an alarm, press this key once to stop the flashing alarm message. Press this key twice to clear the alarm message. djustment keys A Press these keys to navigate up and down through menu items and values. Press these keys to increase or decrease the values in edit mode.

Navigating through the patient menu The patient menu allows you to perform the following actions:
In standby mode • view settings: press
once, select View settings and press
• view technical information: press once, select Technical information and press .
• set the date/time: press once, select Date and Time Setting and press .
• start the ventilation: follow the help message.
While ventilating • stop the ventilation: press
and follow the help message.
• switch from one ventilation program to another (when two programs have been preset in the clinical mode): follow the help message.
• view settings: same as in standby mode.
• view monitoring: press the press .

Navigating through the clinical menu The clinical menu allows you to perform the following actions:

4. Simulating situations Press the following options to simulate an action.

Set the simulator language (12 VS III software languages selectable via the simulator only).
Trigger alarm
Simulate an alarm Press the Alarm Silence key once to stop the alarm flashing. Press it twice to clear the alarm message.
Detect next circuit
Change the circuit type There are five circuit types available (valve circuit by default): - leak - leak Pprox (proximal pressure line) - valve - valve Pprox (proximal pressure line) - double. P ress this button to change the circuit type. In order to detect the new circuit, select ‘New configuration’ in the clinical menu.
Display battery status Change the battery status Three types of battery status are displayed: - charging - discharging - full. Press this option to display the desired battery status.
