Cleaning instructions for reusable dental instruments
All dental instruments should be disinfected, cleaned and sterilized before each use. Cleaning and sterilization of our instruments must include the various successive stages described as follows. Respect basic hygiene rules; namely hand hygiene and dress. Wear for each phase a new pair of resistant disposable gloves. Do not use abrasive or corrosive products. For the Bliss® range, contrastors and photographic mirror handle: Use detergents and pH neutral solutions.
1. Pre-Disinfection Immerse all instruments as soon as you are finished with them using a solution that is virucidal, fungicidal, bactericidal and enzymatic, in order to avoid any contamination. Carefully follow the recommendations of the manufacturer of the decontamination product regarding the concentration of the solution and the soaking time. Increasing the soak time will not improve decontamination; on the other hand it can deteriorate instruments by electrolysis effect.
Cleaning instructions for reusable dental instruments 2. Cleaning Never expose instruments with acidic pH products or too basic pH. Be sure to put on a clean pair of gloves when removing the instruments from the bath. The instruments taken out of the pre-disinfectant solution will be rinsed thoroughly with clean water, not limestone. Any removable instrument must be dismantled. Any hinged instrument should be cleaned with the hinge open.

Use a soft brush that does not damage the instruments. Do not use corrosive products or abrasives. Use a decontamination product identical to that used for pre-disinfection in order to avoid compatibility issues. After brushing, rinse thoroughly with clean water, not limestone. Carefully follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the concentration of the decontamination solution and cleaning time.
Use this process with suitable equipment (basket, etc.) so that the instruments do not rub against others. If you want to use a detergent, see the manufacturer’s advice. Make sure that this product is compatible with those previously used for predisinfection. Carefully follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for solution concentration and cleaning time. Dental mirrors: ultrasonic cleaning is strongly discouraged.
Place or arrange the instruments in a secure way, according to the specificities of the machine. Use detergents that comply with the recommendations of the machine manufacturer and the material to be cleaned. It is recommended to place the instruments in individual storage baskets in order to avoid any contact and impact between the instruments.
3. Rinsing With a new pair of clean gloves, rinse the instruments thoroughly and carefully with clear water after washing and disinfection.
4. Drying With a new pair of clean gloves, ensure that the instruments are completely dry. Hand dry with a clean, lint-free disposable cloth.
Cleaning instructions for reusable dental instruments 5. Control With a new pair of clean gloves, carefully check the cleanliness and integrity of the instrument. Damaged instruments must not be reused. Instruments cleaned improperly must be discarded to restart the cycle.
6. Packaging Always with a new pair of clean gloves, pack only clean and dry instruments in sterilizable heat-sealed sheath. Placing in cassettes or other containers does not exempt them from the heat-sealed sheath: your cassettes or trays, etc... must be placed in a heat-sealed sheath. Sheaths and sterilization tests: use products that comply with the standard procedure.
7. Sterilization All of the previous steps must be followed before proceeding with sterilization. Autoclave sterilization is strongly recommended. It requires a maximum material load (see recommendations according to the manufacturer) for sterilization at a constant temperature of 134°C for 18 minutes in a humid atmosphere (demineralized water) or 132°C for 4 minutes (USA cycle). Inspection after sterilization: check that no sachet has been torn and that the sterilized instruments are dry after opening the autoclave. Check the results of the Helix and Bowie-Dick tests. The quality of sterilization should be checked at the end of each cycle. Sterilized instruments must remain dry after opening the autoclave and remain dry at room temperature. A wet sachet no longer ensures the sterility of the instrument. Each sterilized instrument must bear a label mentioning the cycle number, the number of the machine, the date of sterilization and the expiration date. A traceability file must be kept up to date for sterilization operations.
Cleaning instructions for reusable dental instruments 8. Storage Instruments in sterile packaging should be stored in a clean, dry place away from any contamination. Store in a way that the sterilization and expiration dates can be easily seen.
9. Equipment maintenance Scrupulously follow the recommendations of the manufacturer of the various devices (cleaning, regular inspections, troubleshooting).

Recommendations For instruments in anodized aluminum or not: Anodized aluminum instruments, when treated with stainless steel instruments, can cause an unwanted chemical reaction. Use neutral pH cleaning products suitable for aluminum. Check the cleaning product label for precautions to take with aluminum. Do not clean with an ultrasonic cleaner. Clean by hand or in an automatic washing machine.

The mirrors must be separated from the handles before being disinfected, cleaned and sterilized or placed in individual baskets, so that they do not scratch each other during the cycle. In order to avoid any scratches and shocks, it is strongly recommended not to mix them with other instruments and not to perform ultrasonic cleaning.
Usually vary from 15 to 60 minutes due to the difference in packaging materials, vapor quality, device materials, total mass, sterilizer performance and cooling time. The distributor and the manufacturer accept no responsibility for sterilization procedures performed by the customer who have no carried out procedures in accordance with these recommendations. Do not exceed the temperature of sterilization, and ensure that the maximum load of the sterilizer is not exceeded.
The quality of the water can influence the result of cleaning and disinfection of instruments. The corrosion can be caused by a high content of chlorine or other minerals in the tap water. If staining and corrosion problems occur and other reasons may be excluded, it may be necessary to test the quality of the tap water in your area. With the use of completely deionized or distilled water, most water quality problems can be avoided beforehand.
Always store your instruments in a way that protects them from damage. The user is responsible for the sterility of medical devices sold at the non-sterile state. They must ensure that the approved procedures and the necessary means (products, materials, equipment, trained personnel) are implemented to obtain a result compliant with current standards. Routine checks as well as regular maintenance of sterilization devices should be performed according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Please observe the legal regulations in your area relating to hygiene in care facilities (dental and medical offices, hospitals).
Cleaning instructions for reusable dental instruments DENTAL MIRRORS - MOUTH MIRRORS Use this instrument only for its intended purpose.
1. Decontamination Decontaminate before the 1st use and after every use.
2. Cleaning / Rinsing Cleaning: manual (recommended). Avoid thermodisinfection and ultrasonic cleaning in order to preserve the reflective surface and material. Rinse with clear demineralized water and dry. Inspect carefully.
3. Sterilization Package mirrors properly and prepare for sterilization. Autoclave sterilization: 18 minutes at 134°C (4 minutes at 132°C - USA cycle). Dental mirrors have a fragile reflective surface: avoid any contact with other instruments during these processes. Do not expose the mirrors to a temperature exceeding 180°C. Do not use brushes, coarse sponges or similar to avoid scratches on the mirror. Dental mirrors are instruments whose lifespan does not exceed 100 cycles of reprocessing. NOTE: Discolorations due to water spots are not signs of corrosion. Dental mirror treatment: To prevent scratches on the mirror surface by other sharp instruments, clean and sterilize in a completely disassembled state and do not place in contact with other instruments.
